Why You Need This Ball | What Makes A Bowling Ball A GOAT? | Storm IQ Tour | Deep Dive Ball Review 

Not a fan of the commentary but a fan of the ball. Spent 35 years away, started back 6 months ago. Pro Shop recommended this ball - my average is back to where I was at 22.

Came back to the sport after 12 years away. Spent way too much $$$ on balls and just ended up digging out my personal GOAT from the back of the garage. Original Motiv p7 Raptor always seems to give me that predictable, comfy feel. Was shocked at the fact I saw three still in play throughout league this season.

This is my go to ball when I'm in trouble, I wasn't impressed with the P2 but this ball, this ball is my GOAT. There is a reason this has been in production for a such a long time. Long live the iQ!

I have had my IQ Tour since CtD first started the bowling ball reviews on the RU-vid channel and it is a consistent ball! I like that it doesn't flare a ton and I can use it in a variety of situations. Great in-depth ball review on a great ball. While, I have yet to throw one, I have heard that the original Venom Shock is a goat ball, and I might sort of throw in the Jackal Ghost as one of the Goat balls of recent day.

This is by far my favorite ball! Always a go to!

I Love The iq tour being on the left side as well but I’ve noticed I’ve had to drill quite a few over the years because they seem to “die” for me after many games plus the oil bleeding and surface changes so I always keep a fresh one when it’s tournament season!

I am saving up for this ball.

The Motiv Venom Shock is definitely a GOAT ball! Very similar numbers to the IQ Tour.

OG Idol to me, is a goat ball. It works on everything, long patterns, short, 3 day old un oiled Bowlero trashed lanes, etc.

If this becomes a series. I am expecting to see the Venom Shock to show up. Also, who better than EJ Tackett to demonstrate how good it is

There's a couple I can think of, even though I've never thrown any of them. The Venom Shock from Motiv, the Phaze 2 from Storm, and the GB2 from Ebonite are just a few that come to mind.

Im a bowling ball junkie and love to throw different new Storm balls but when comes tourney time- IQ Tour, Phaze II and a Hy Road mandatory in my bag #1.

Yes,the IQ Tour Solid is a great ball! Lately, I have been sanding my sanded bowling balls at 3K after every bowling session. I have checked with a scanner, and by the end of game 3, they are at "stable". But while I'm bowling, it seems that the lane shine of the ball just about matches the lane transition, and I don't have to move more than 2-3 boards with my feet for the entire series. I think this can be an advantage, as opposed to having a ball at 4K-4.7K, and having to move with the lane transition, since the ball is not showing any change in roll from lane shine surface change. Of course, this won't work with polished balls, so there's still a place for them. But when the polished balls start to work well, they usually have more continuation in later games, as opposed to the sanded ball that has hit "stable". The balls that might benefit the most would be the ones that come out of the box at either 2K or 3K. In fact, whatever ball you have, polished or not, might benefit from sanding at 3K. I did that with a Brunswick Quantum Bias Pearl, and it is really good. Ronald sort of did the same thing with the Storm DNA Coil, when he sanded it to "stable" at the end of his deep-dive video, and struck every time after that, except for one stone 8.

I had bought an IQ tour and yeah it was a fantastic ball, the first week of league after buying I shot 758 series and continued to bowl well for some time, but then after about 100 games I noticed that it just didn't have that fresh out of the box reaction anymore, so took it to the pro shop, had it rejuvenated and resurfaced back to factory and thought I was going to be back in business, well, to be honest it never really was the same after that, it somehow lost its sweet reaction, I even changed the surface a couple of times and still didn't have the same look as before, so a fresh IQ, super awesome. but I feel like it was only good when new. The ball that I really liked the most is the idol, shot my first 300 with that ball and I believe that is the real goat ball, it just works and I didn't feel as though it lost any reaction after multiple resurfacing. Super sweet ball.

I don't have the original, but i do have a Ruby and i love it so much i want to get the trifecta (Ruby, Original, 78U)

Curious if you have any opinions on how it compares to the Venom Shock, particularly on the left. I love the Venom when its in play on flatter stuff in the first zone or two, but have the experience where it gets a tad slow (in terms of response) once I get any deeper than 15 at the laydown or if I try to ball down to it from a phaze 2/exotic gem on more volume or a lower friction surface. Just curious if you feel the IQ would be much different. I just ordered a Hyper Venom for that spot, but part of me wonders if that's more of a change in friction response than I actually needed (can't just be at peace with spending money haha).

How does oil absorption rate effect a bowling ball?

2:20 regarding surface changes from 4000 to 4700, isn't the settling in that high actually VERY slow compared to how it changes from say 1000 on a single shot? Low grits make large changes quickly whereas higher sanded finishes are quite a bit slower to settle into that 4700 point.

HyRoad is still my fave. I have the iq ruby but never got the tour. I've been trying to get my ruby to play like it. Have a venom shock that is also supposed to be a GOAT ball, but I haven't found it to fit with my game and I have tried shiny, 4000, 3000 and 2000 and it's alwsy just too strong.

Is it the goat at 14 pounds with a middle Rg of 2.54 and slightly higher differential?

A GOAT ball is one that is in play for all styles, versatility of drilling layouts, has to be predictable, and can be used on multiple lane conditions. I think of IQ Tour, Hy-Road, Venom Shock and Gamebreaker as true benchmark GOAT balls.

Why do they have two colors for the IQ? Dark blue and black! I have the black one. Did they runout of Blue ?? LOL.. I also saw that D. Thang has both colors.

Longevity and amount of use would be my definition... Also the amount of balls made off of the original. So venom shock, IQ, phaze II, hyroad, widow; etc.

For me, a GOAT ball is one that has withstood the test of time as being a good, dependable ball. IQ Tour, Phaze 2... etc. Balls that came out in 2023 or 2024 can be considered very good, but unless they are at least 5-7 years old and still in production, GOAT status should not be used.

So should we expect videos like this for the Phaze 2 and Venom Shock?

When I was in the Middle East they play a similar game to bowling with actual goat balls

Just got this ball last season and man I can’t figure it out. Some shots look good some shots it just sharp off the spot. Played with the surfaces still can’t find it.

To be honest, I hated that ball out of the box. It was way too over under for me. Once I cracked the surface it was a different story.
