A beautiful relaxing round of golf in the high desert where we explore the difference between being focused on the process and the outcome. Along the way, we discuss the importance of focusing on the process for more happiness and better golf and discuss how you can avoid the pitfalls of being too outcome focused and balance having big goals and dreams while also falling in love with the process.

Keys from this week’s life lesson in golf - focus on the process and the outcome will take care of itself:
-Use broader outcome goals to help you find direction in your strides, but don’t stop there
-Focus on the process to find enjoyment in the now and avoid the pressure, stress and anxiety that can come with too much focus on the results and outcomes
-Learn to fall in love with the process as a way to immerse in the present and not put off today’s happiness for the destination of tomorrow that continues to be pushed out in favor of a new, better goal or outcome
Golf Course: Nicklaus Course, Pronghorn Club
Location: Bend, Oregon

Such great insight! I often find myself worrying about the outcome instead of enjoying the journey along the way. The journey accounts for so much more time than the outcome, so might as well make the most of that time! Thanks for sharing such a beautiful course ⛳️

So well said. There is so much to enjoy in the process, but it can be easier said than done to not get lost in the worry and pressure of the outcomes. All we can do is try to continue to lean into the beauty of the pursuit!

It really is! We loved the Nicklaus course and hope to get back there to play the Fazio one day as we have heard great things about it.

Wow, so I just checked out your content. Super Cool. I have 45 years of competitive golf experience and was a Pro for most of my life. There is one thing that I know above all others. When I make good decisions for noble reasons away from the golf course, then GOLF IS VERY GOOD TO ME. Likewise, if I am living a less than honest and sincere life off of the course, then golf treats me with a similar level of care. When my game is important to me I am very careful to live a moral existence and be an example to others. Because I have a lifetime of experience that tells me that the consequences of my behavior off of the course is more important to my score than my actual practice. Let me say that again. I have a lifetime of experience that tells me that the consequences of my behavior off of the course is more important to my score than my actual practice.

@@BillyDenton-nx3oy Thank you for sharing these valuable words of wisdom. This is such powerful insight and is so well said. After I (Alyssa) finished my college golf career and was getting my master's degree in sport psychology I had my first real "aha" moment that the outcomes someone experiences on the golf course are so much more than a just a result of practice. You can optimize your training and do things to set yourself up for success, but what really struck me was how much our mindset, our actions, habits, and behaviors in life outside of golf contribute as well. We are big believers that when you live your life better off the course, you are able to bring your best self to the course and when that happens you open yourself up to receiving good things (which tends to have a compounding effect). We are passionate about seeing the bigger picture when it comes to golf and life and discovering the ways in which we can learn through golf, live better off the course, and in return see the benefits in our games as well and hope that sharing along the way can help others live better and golf better as well. Thank you again for sharing your experience - I hope many people will be able to read your reflections and benefit
