Something I forgot to mention: one of the implications here is that if you're high enough on your ramp (above the midpoint), even if you look straight down, because your cursor will still be above the midpoint, you will place a floor above you. A lot of building grid stuff is determined by these invisible midpoints, so it's worth noting that they're there, just not something you can see.
