Are you tired of getting lost in the Black Friday chaos, only to end up with gear you don't really need? It's time to take a step back and consider some smart strategies for navigating this shopping frenzy without breaking the bank.
In this video, I explain why Black Friday might not be the best time for music producers to splurge on new equipment. Instead, I will give you practical tips to help you make informed decisions and prioritize your purchases wisely.
Avoid the iPhonisation of your studio: Stick to what you have and master it
Needs vs. Wants: Learn how to differentiate between essential gear upgrades and those tempting impulse buys. Your wallet will thank you!

Wise words Marc. I also have your philosophy about keeping your gear and learning it as much as possible. I have pretty much stopped buying music gear. If i have one sound, I will try different effects, modulation and playing techniques. In this way I have more of a connection to this equipment. I also feel more like a craftsman/producer which is a good feeling when walking into my small studio, it feels like it is part of me which I never experienced when I mindlessly trawled through presents etc. Finally I like the idea of not falling for all the marketing gimmicks, which, I feel takes away creativity. Keep life simple as possible, tune into the power of our minds and make music.

Definitely agree with that. When you use some stuff for long time then you know how to get best of it. It takes time to learn new stuff.

Absolutely! Your instruments become as much a physical extension of your being as they are an emotional interpretation. Stevie Ray Vaughn played the same Strat his entire life. Miles Davis played the same trumpet. Hendrix had his favorite strat. These weren't people short of financial freedom! Respect your gear and over time you will be rewarded.

I still have my 5.1 running and a 1.1 in storage. The trashcan never appealed to me.

....except when it comes to a new, discounted, MacBook Pro 😅 I've been on a decent yet modestly limited Asus gaming laptop, that I got used, for the last 4 years. Not a horrible CPU but nothing I'd say is specced out. I finally decided I needed to take the plunge and got the newest MacBook pro. 18gb ram, 14 core-cpu and 512gb storage. M3 Pro. It smokes the MacBook air M1 I had briefly and any other computer I've owned. But it took a while to finally decide to do it. $300 off MSRP and brand new. I couldn't say no.

Haha 😂 No even not then. I'm aware that it's an easy position for me to say "stay with the MacPro while I'm als using an M2 Pro on the other desk" but I still believe, people get the message 😀

@@MarcRentonhaha yes still point well taken! I just edited my comment, describing my purchase. Upgrading not just the computer but the computing experience feels so nice. As always, love your videos!

Question..Why would any adult with a brain let someone influence them enough to buy random crap because it's possibly on sale???? Why would an adult be such a puppet to keep updating everything that already was working? How stoopid can people be???????Fact is, MOST of people on RU-vid will never earn wealth making music, and doing content on YT ,just means someone is getting paid to review the same products 365 other people are. I wish I would buy a $4000 laptop i cannot even upgrade. NO thank you and for less than half the price I will use my PC.
