Decals for cooling jackets on gun barrels are a great innovation? Tamiya have two selling points A. Only kit of said subject available. B. Ease of construction. Besides this they are pretty hopeless and because we give them such a high praise they make stupid decisions which in turn companies cut corners. To prove a point I bought ICM's Counter Invader which included weapons and full crew for the same cost of the Tamiya P-38 which offers better value for money.
Growing up and making models I really never thought about the significance of the decals and what they were meant for, but watching your videos I'm learning about history all over again and the significance of the different paint schemes and the difference in decals and what they actually represent, I'm not to tech savvy but I see the way you explain things I will have more information on what and how to represent a true model, thanks
I built my G as wheels up, but it killed me to cover up that awesome landing gear/bay detail. So yes, I've been waiting for the J to come out so I can build one on the ground.
Wow! Sure am waiting for this! And finally they made a Tommy Macguire PUDGY III ( not V). He was KIA in the Philippines in the town of Fabrica, Negros Island. Revell came out with PUDGY IV in 1/32. My P-38 G/H will become Capt. Danny T. Robert's mount. Also KIA (accident) in New Guinea. Buried in Manila American Cemetery. Thanks Hank!
I am very excited for this Hank!! I would pick one up but I already have some new models to build… Would you ever make a discord for people to share model stuff and get tips, I do not have instagram, my parents don’t like social media stuff, sorry!!
OMG! The "J" version with not one, but 3 options for 3 top pilots in PTO. Im drooling for this kit now. Question, is the kit version available now? Here are more facts, Ira Bong survive his combat tour, and was sent home. Bong was assigned to test fly the new prototype jet the XP-83. On one test flight his jet stalled after takeoff, crashed and killed Bong. Would love to see you do an open box review and build. Best of luck.
I’ve been waiting for them to do the P-38 J so I could get aftermarket decals to do either Bong’s Marge or Robin Olds’ Scat (5 I think), but he was ETO. Looks like Marge it is. Maybe get 2 to do both.
I’ve got an F/G and an H, not sure if I’ll get this one or not but I’m sure it will be very nice. What is really Like to know is where did you get that hat? Love it!
Hello, I don't know if you will see this, but I'm looking for a tutorial that just doesn't show the painting part of the build. Do you have any videos that show the glue parts in more detail? I'm an utter beginner in this hobby, and just trying to learn some tips and tricks.
Impressive knowledge on the history of this plane and the pilots. I don’t know much about those things unfortunately. I will try to get my hands on this kit. Random question, what kit do you recommend for Sailing Ships? Thanks in advance.
Thank you! Still no word on when this kit will be released to the public, but hopefully soon! And unfortunately I don't ont have any recommendations on tall ships as I've never built one. Someday, though! 👍
Haven’t done one yet either, but from what I hear the big issue is not so much the painting itself but the prep work because metal finish will show any imperfection.
@@kudukilla make sure your seams are perfect, prime in grey then lay down a very glossy black coat, then metal paint of choice, trust me, you’ll be chuffed with the result.
Hasegawa has a 1/48 beautiful J and L. How bout a 1/48 Aichi Jake. Or a 1/48 Kawanishi Emily. Wow! Or a G3M2- Nell. Better yet a 1/48 KI-21 Sally. Or a Yokusuka-Ginga- Frances. I love Japanese aircraft. People already produce a 1/32 B-17G.
