fr tho, I got one board worth around 100 (Canadian) for 30 bucks but it was like brand new, I think someone bought it realized skating wasn't for them and donated it and a longboard around 115 bucks, mint condition for 13 dollars, they even had another board for 10 that was nice but I didn't need another one
Some people want to start skateboarding so they buy a 70-150$ board and they end up realizing skateboarding is not their thing so its best if you learn to ride and maybe ollie in a walmart board.
Respect for recognizing that Walmart boards can be useful for people who are just starting out So many communities, skateboarding included, are so quick to shit on cheap products which just isn't welcoming to newcomers who don't have too much money to spend
Ha! My first board had an aluminum deck with tiny, narrow trux and big wheels. Basically yer standard 70's banana board, but I always dug the aluminum deck and the bottom art design was pretty dope. I just remember a human, animal or maybe creature surfing with this skateboard. I miss it everyday😢
Gotta admit one of my strongest boards was baught at Walmart threw on some reds bearings steel trucks and sims wheels for cruising but even with some stress cracks it hasn’t actually broke anywhere lol
I think my fist was a Walmart one when I was like 5 or sum idk but when I wanted to get deeper in to it I was like 8 got my board at family dollar 💀😭 it was a maple one to😭

The walmart board i started out with was actually decent. It had full aluminum trucks, abec 5 bearings, pretty good wheels, and a decent deck which was surprising.
If you’re a beginner and you just want to experiment with skateboarding don’t get a Walmart bored that is the worst thing you can do go to like a fuck pawn store or like a Goodwill or something like that because you could probably find a skateboard for like fucking 15 bucks that’s way better quality even if it is highly damaged it’s still gonna be better until you get your first actual board
My actual first board was a mini board from five below, then I got a long board Penny, but I will still say that my kryptonics board is my first because it's my first actual trick board

My first board came from Sears. Maybe 1987. It was heavy as hell, but I learned to ollie on it. Then when I got my Mark Gonzales board I could suddenly hit huge ollies out of nowhere. It was like running with ankle weights.
As long as it can ollie n roll smooth, it's a good beginner board imho. I got cheated for my first board. It's a straight plank, plain garbage for 50bucks. There wasn't youtube tutorial yet so idk boards are actually made of thin 7ply material compressed into a mold. Then i spent another 68 for 2nd parts to make a real board. By the time I got a new legit setup(about $160), my lower back was done.
My first board was a blind brand board it costed 110 at a skateboard shop it started chipping then I got a new board than my board now it’s a baker brand it costed 280 dollars for everything I got shoes a backpack and a skate tool to when I bought it
The first two boards I ever had as a kid were from walmart the first one was pretty bad but helped me learn my stance at least the second one was a tony hawk one which was decent enough to allow me to learn to drop in on ramps I learned that before ollies I'd still advice getting a complete or something slightly better
I would actually probably have to disagree on this one. Walmart boards at least from my experience usually do not roll like at all. It can be really frustrating and discouraging to new riders. I’m glad I didn’t quit because of my board lol
My first board was 100$ board and then I upgraded to a 250$ board which I custom picked all the parts myself just shows you can go from a cheaper board to an expensive board in a few months depending on how much you advance and how much time and effort you put into skating
I disagree I've been skateboarding for about 2 years now when I first started I'm pretty sure it was a Walmart board. I just never really liked skating with that board not to mention that they hardly roll which can be really misleading to a beginner. If you have never skateboarded and want to try it I would go to a skate shop to try out a few boards and if you like it then maybe pick up one.
Sorry but I go way against what he said about if your interested try a Walmart board, I say get a cheaper but good skateboard off of Facebook or somthing and see if it’s somthing your going to want to put time and money into, skateboarding is one of the best things in life, so try with somthing you can get the real feel of skating, if I started on a Walmart board I wouldn’t have been skating today most likely you can’t get confident on a Walmart board, so I encourage you to learn how to skate guys
My first board was from toys r us and it had ninja turtles on it, one day my dad said I should personalize it so I covered the whole bottom of the deck with silver duct tape
I had a walmart complete, with plastic stuck in the trucks and all, but the trucks were metal so that avoided the biggest issue, never broke and im on my fifth board
90% of people who ever skate will never need to go beyond this level. I spent way too much on my stuff I can’t even do a damn ollie 😂 but at least my trucks will last forever? 😂
That’s what a lot of people don’t understand.. if you’re really wanting to get into skateboarding it’s not gonna matter to you if it’s a pro or a Walmart board you’re just gonna be stoked to have a board. you’ll ride that Walmart board everyday until you get something better !
Please don't do this. You WILL STOP skateboarding if you start by playing with toys. You can't learn to ride on a board that won't roll even on downhill, and is softer than my third leg.
You do realize knowing how to skate already makes you LESS likely to break it, right? A beginner aint landing bolts lol. I bought a barely used legit setup off my buddy, he'd gotten it a few years prior. After a week he wanted to learn as well ans bought a Walmart board and it lasted a day. Do they no longer carry darkstar? Im sure theyre not the same you'd get from a skateshop but still.
Bro support your local skate shop and get a quality product, plus, when you first start skating, boards last a lot longer, I kept my first board for like a year when i was first starting
In fifth grade I had the choice to choose between one of these and a 200 dollar visa gift card Istg real shit and I picked the Walmart board 😭 It’s what got me into skating tho so ig I’m thankful
A shuv it was my second truck that I learned I take breaks on skating on holidays and sometimes have a hard time coming back to those tricks any tips to keep me updated and work out my muscle memory
