I’ve had my Apple Watch Ultra since its initial launch, and I absolutely love it. I would classify the Ultra as a top of the line smartwatch that contains many of the best features of a sports watch. This is a watch that works well on the trails and in the office, especially with the wide selection of bands to meet the occasion.
Great video mate , I haven’t worn a watch for years, mostly because I’m a clumsy old bugger that manages to break watches with alarming speed, I have a draw full deceased watches from my younger days. I have been threatening to get a a more robust adventure smart watch for some time. The one thing I don’t think you mentioned unless I missed it , was Apple Pay , this is a feature I use all the time on my IPhone , I’d be lost without it , I’m old , I forget to grab my wallet, I rushed out of the house the other day and left my phone at home ( the joys of getting old😊). Thanks for the video !
I’ve had my series 2 for about 3 months. Been a game changer. Sometimes give it a full charge and leave the phone at home. As long as I got my talk to text and my phone calls on the go I’m good. Love the look of the Ultra 2. Got 3 bands. Alpine trail and the blue surf band.
Very cool. Glad to hear you have been enjoying the Ultra 2. It is a great watch. It is nice to have the battery to be able to leave the phone at home. Thanks for sharing and for watching.
I love my ultra, nearly 2 years on and not a mark on it , I walk and cycle quite a bit so that’s my action button (although you can have that as a watch face complication) but see it’s uses, plus I tend to buy generic bands from eBay which to be honest are pretty much perfect and I have a good selection 😁👍
People who think the Apple Watch Ultra is big clearly never wore watches much. A Rolex submariner is as big a Casio G shock is bigger a TAG is as big or bigger. End of the day I think everyone complaining it’s big just aren’t watch people and I disregard their opinions
I can appreciate what you are saying. That is a great point about watch people and non. I have a TAG watch that is way heavier and bulkier than my Ultra. But people don't think about the weight and size of those watches because that is just how expensive watches are. I do think that the beefier metal bands that come with nice watches like Rolex, TAG, etc., play apart in making them not look as bulky. Apple always shows a chunky watch with a relatively thin band. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
For trail running, the Alpine Loop is an absolute must. The trail loop is great is great in the gym, but it's come off a few times while trail running and rock scrambling. I still have the Ultra 1 for about two and a half years and have no plans to replace it anytime soon.
Wore watch watches for decades and dinged them all up good. Got a cheap aluminum SE2 with loop band. Banged it many times. Nothing. I put a top rated basic PVC cover on screen. Has worked good. I can’t see the giant cost difference being justified for even sporty or outdoorsy types. Just get the upcoming SE3 or the SE2 even cheaper! Stop wasting your money on excess technology you don’t need! Put it in a Roth IRA.
The Apple Watch ultra is the best Apple product I've ever bought not a mark on it tiny little flecks around the edges of the bezel but certainly not banged up and I worn it doing all sorts of stuff. I never take it off. I can't fault it I would definitely buy it again.
Wow - so many fake bot comments already! RU-vid is getting silly now. Have to say that nothing tomorrow seems remotely exciting. Theres no big rumours around which either means Apple will surprise us all... or the leaks (again) are just boring. Seems to me this year will be all about getting non iPhone 15 pro owners into new handsets that can support Apple Intelligence. That said, the Watch Ultra is the better buy but only when comparing to the Stainless Steel which is the model I used to buy due to its durability (hard to scratch and damage those!) but they are so close to the Ultra price in the UK that it makes the Ultra a no-brainer. I was intending to look at the Ultra 3 but only if they released hypertension monitoring - seems they arent and the difference is going to be next to nothing from the ultra 2 which in itself was next to nothing from the ultra 1. Seems my ultra 1 lives to fight another day after tomorrow.
Oh and p.s. my ultra in the UK still has Blood Oxygen readings. I know in the US they cant anymore but has that spread worldwide for new watches? I dont want to give up my Ultra 1 if it means losing blood oxygen. Anyone know what the situation is with this? I find it incredible that Apple seem happy to ditch a big feature rather than make a deal with the IP owner.
When I was buying my first Apple Watch, I went in my local Apple Store to try on all models, colours and sizes. I ended up getting a Nike Series 7 41 in Starlight. The bigger Watches just didn't suit my wrist. Thanks for the content.
Thanks for watching the video. That is great you went and tried the different models and sizes. That is the way to do it. An aluminum Apple Watch isn't light and small enough for anyone. The ultra, you have to know you want it. Enjoy your watch.
Thanks for the excellent video, Craig! I’m trying to decide between a Series 9 Stainless Steel and an Ultra 2. I’ve found the earlier models of both watches with the blood oxygen sensor enabled. The price difference now is $200 (both in new condition). Currently, I have a Series 6 Stainless Steel. I tried on the Ultra 2 and the only issues for me would be the Digital Crown rubbing slightly on my skin when I use it and the bulk/weight of the watch. My existing watch bands would also work well with the Ultra 2. What do you think?
Thank you for the video! I was trying to get the information and it’s exactly what I needed! Im going to get the ultra 1 now and until they release something really different I won’t upgrade 😊
Thank you very much. You are welcome. I am glad that you enjoyed it. If you can get a good deal on an Ultra 1 go for it. The Ultra 2 added a processor change (Minimal) and a pinch gesture. I hope you enjoy the Ultra. Thanks for watching.
I was wondering: your voice reminds me of someone… 🤔 Then it came to me: David Lee Roth. 😅 I’d like the Ultra, but the 10s bigger screen is more appealing to me.
Great video. I got the Ultra about 3 months after launched. Had a few micro scratches on my S7 & I didn’t want a product red watch anymore 😅 I still love the Ultra. Can’t wait to see the Ultra 3 and Watch X
Thank you very much. That is a great point. I hadn’t really thought about it. I am so use to the Apple Watches water resistance for everyday task, i totally forget to mention it. For swimming I don’t wear. The wet sports and trail loop are annoying.
this was the best review of the ultra/regular watch use case I have seen and I've watched several as I don't have an Apple Watch and am considering one for my golf app that runs on my iPhone.
Buy an iWatch , you won't regret it. I am still running the 6th series iWatch , it is off my wrist only for charging and when I have my shower. Battery health 84%.
That is so kind of you to say. I am glad you enjoyed the video. If you already have a potential use for it with the golf app, that already adds more value than just checking time, notifications and other features. I say go for it and take advantage of the return policy. If you are not satisfy with the product return it. I don't want people to abuse returns. But this is why they are here in my opinion.
There is not a lot of change with the 2. If the watch is in good shape, $350 sounds like a good deal. The $800 Watch becomes closer to $1000 with tax and if you add Apple care.
Had my ultra for almost 2 years now, and I agree with your assessment of the watch. I scratched both case and screen on my S4, SE and S7, and I refuse to use a protective case. The only S10 interesting to me is the titanium version. As the Ultra is quite bulky. But I'm not sure I can give up the 2-2.5 day battery life on the Ultra.
Thanks for sharing. The titanium 46mm is a lot more compelling. The larger screen and titanium finish are a nice upgrade. I can understand the bulkiness of the Ultra. Now the 10s screen is bigger than the ultra.
There is nothing to be sad about the titanium S10 will be great. The display is bigger than the ultra now, the watch is thinner, the titanium finish is strong and you have the sapphire crystal. Only thing you are missing is the extra battery life. I would even say now the only real difference other than look is $100 more for the extra battery life. That was not the case a year ago. Enjoy your new watch. It will be awesome
Yes it is, good eye. It is a Lego model. It is a great looking car. Sounds nice to have a real one. Except for the maintenance and ride comfort compared to a modern car.
But aluminium is not great! That watch scratches like hell! Get the stainless steel one! It is a little heavier, so more like a watch than a fitness tracker and it is totally scratch resistant! I have a series 6 stainless steel in gold, it is three years old and looks like brand new!
Would never get one then I got the ultra and I love it. I wouldn’t buy a watch I couldn’t track sleep with and the battery life is good enough with the ultra
@@frankiew1922 good to know! I lead a pretty busy life between family, day job, my own growing business and still trying to exercise regularly 😮💨. So I need all the help I can get(Apple Watch) to help me keep up with tasks and the last thing I want is one more device to regularly be thinking about charging
@@jmclane27 yep. I love my Ultra. I would be cautious of the new black colour however, who knows how resistant to scratching the paint off it actually is.
I have two Series 8's (to rotate because of battery) and a 9 that I shouldn't have bought. They might be my last, really don't like any of the Apple watch faces. Using a Chinese SKG ID208 on wrist and Fitbit charge 4/Versa 4 (rotate) above ankle for steps and miles only. Almost forgot, Ultrahuman Air which replaced my Apples.
Sorry to hear the battery hasn’t cut if for you. If the other devices work well for you, it definitely will save you from Apples prices. Thanks for watching.
I like the 2 Apple Watches. But I don't have an Iphone, so GPS/Cellular is no good for me. I have a Samsung Android phone and just knowing Apple's history they will never make the watch be able to link to my Samsung!
Craig, that's the problem with Apple. They force you into buying their products because they work together. I can purchase a Smart Watch that works with both IOS and Android. And it is only 59.00. And the big difference is that you are not paying for the Name "APPLE"!
I preordered the black ultra 2. my series 9 battery life has absolutely TANKED to the point that I have to make sure I leave the house in the morning at 100% AND charge it half way through the day if I want to make it through my evening workout. Also, it's kinda useless if my phone isn't right next to me. GPS will be nice.
I sold it because of the battery. Too weak for my needs. Got a Garmin Epix 2 pro 51. Amoled display, tons functions and it lasts from 11 to 30 days. Wake up Apple!!!
It was a disappointing event. I think phone is going to be key for Apple intelligence. From what I am seeing pretty much any watch should be good since the phone is doing the heavy lifting.
Would have bought this watch if it could work with android. It's perfect for me as a casual runner - it's battery and cellular capability, the design is the best. Such a shame apple is such a garbage company with their business practices and totalitarian software ecosystem. The US government is suing them exactly for this, but i am skeptical it will improve anything. I hope garmin simply clones the design and cellular call/receive; that will be perfection. Btw, for trail/sweaty things why not use the silicon band (the fabric one doesn't make sense in such conditions)?
