I kindof agree with you. I didnt notice much to any difference between the rift and the vive (which is why I ended up buying the rift due to the price VS price for same experience) I have a gear VR, they are nice intros to the VR world but you shouldn't think of them as the best out there.

The Vive is more expensive than the Rift and it has better tracking. I think that's justified. I bought the Rift because the tracking is just fine on it and with the price I saved over buying the Vive ($650 Canadian at the time of purchase) I just got the third sensor. In the end, they are both amazing systems and the differences are minor.

I am going to get this bundle too, but i am waiting for the black friday with deals on it

The other advantage is the Oculus store. There are a few exclusives that are actually some of the best titles in all of VR. But other than those, buy in Steam unless you see a really good sale on the Oculus store. The reason is if you ever get another headset that isn't an Oculus product, you don't lose the games.

@@computethis7128 at the moment, yeah! Did some research and decided to buy the rift before I upgraded my PC. I found a lot of ppl saying that most things ran smoothly for them on their 680 so decided to risk it. My next move will be a vid card upgrade for sure, but in most experiences the 680 actually works surprisingly well! Well optimized stuff like robo recall is able to completely immerse me already, and the occasional stutter in, say, thwavevr hasn't been a deal-breaker at all I'm also lucky enough to not get motion sickness so YMMV I'm sure

@@ifritto nice! I usually get really bad motion sickness which I did with mobile VR terribly however with the rift or vive I don't except for smooth locomotion. I can play most games just fine but smooth walking makes me really sick and feel like falling over. Teleporting or snap movement is fine. And real movement is fine.

I use the 1060 with little to no issues My build costed around 600 -800

yes, thats what i do ! i only have two sensors for my rift at the moment and placed them in opposite corners of the room, this way 360 tracking works 95% percent of the time. This being said i will still get another sensor soon. I still can comfortably recommend the rift no problem 9/10

Really? You do realise for the price of a vive you can get the rift plus an additional 2 sensors resulting in a total of 4, which give you better tracking than the vive. The only reason I can see people choosing the vive over the rift is if they are only going to be doing shooting games (no hand based gesturing etc) or don't have enough usb ports on their computer.

You're right! Again, I sadly didn't have the specs in front of me while making this video so I just went off what i've read online prior to recording. However, I did find this today saying "The Oculus has two OLED panels boasting a combined 2,160 x 1,200 resolution. As a result, each eye gets its own 1,080 x 1,200 resolution display to mindlessly gaze at." While the htc vive also has the same resolution and 2 panels. ALSO the vive does have a built in mic (which I wasn't aware of). Both headsets are nearly identical when it comes to specs apparently. It really just comers down to personal tastes and price. The good thing about this is that technically speaking the vive has nothing better than the oculus. The ONLY plus with paying an extra 200$ to get the vive would be the full-room support with the sensors.

Get a rift quest seems like it's just an option for people that don't have a PC

And there is wireless options for rift which would probably still be cheaper in total then the quest

I play on an asus i7 4th gen 980m gtx 16 gig set up and it plays anything current. Robo recall frames down to 45 when the action gets going but honestly doesn’t impact my or any of my friends experience.

@Robbie Zeigler if you survive VR with less FPS than 90 like me you can even survive playing games on VR with a GTX 960 4GB which I am doing.

960? I have a 770 and so far everything runs fine...

Gtx 970 works decently for me. I'm sure the asynchronous space warp kicks in often but oddly enough I only sometimes notice it in oculus home.

Either way. Get the oculus. Ive tried both headsets and the vive far from impressed me enough to pay more for it. In many ways. The vive was by far worse in many aspects.

oculus is dominating now. and echo arena is not for Vive.

I loved the Lone Echo game. I dont regret buying the rift over vive. I dont care about knuckles yet. Rift will probably have all sorts of solutions like the vive cheaper on next gen. They already have gesture tracking without throwing off 100s on additional gimmics.

The tracking is better on the vive even if you have 3 sensors. I'll give it that, but that is it.

@@abram730 if you have 3 sensors, tracking is the same. only advantage vive have when it comes down to tracking is as i mentioned before no need to plug in usb and longer range but this is only advantage if you are using vr in some kind of warehouse.

Honestly, the Rift is a little better overall. The only advantage the Vive has is that it's simpler to have a full 360 roomscale experience out of the box and the tracking is ever so slightly better. You can still do it just fine with the Rift, it'll just cost you another $60 for a third sensor. Still way less money spent than on an HTC. The Oculus Touch controllers are also far superior to the HTC controllers. Just get the Rift, there's really no reason to spend more.

Don't worry about it. I was still using an R9 280 (not even the 280X) and almost everything worked fine. The more demanding titles (like the Bullet Train demo and Arizona Sunshine) were slightly jerky, but most things ran perfectly. I've upgraded to a 1060 recently, but a 1050 Ti should be just fine for the most part.

You obviously didn't get my point in the video. I stated that the vive is better in the "specs" category, yes. However, the Oculus is the better DEAL for you get the same VR experience for 200$ less and for most people that 200$ is a pretty big difference.

Paul Russo if you purchase an extra sensor the rift is the same experience. The only preference would be in the controllers which most people agree, is better on the rift, because of hand presence. The rooomscale is great and all the games on the Vive are also optimized for the rift, the same cannot be said about the rift games in relation to the Vive (yes I am aware of revive however that is like emulating a controller on a game not actually optimized) taking cost out of the equation the rift (with the extra sensor) and the Vive are the same experience with only preference on controller, which can go both ways.

Yeah... Thats why 50% of steam VR users are Oculus Rift + Touch owners now. And stil growing. Oculus has put vive against the wall because of the extremely low prices compared to the vive. Included that the rift has headstrap and sound you need to pay additional cash to get for the vive. The vive is expensive cashgrab devkit sold as a consumer product. Both headsets uses the same low latency tracking. The difference is that oculus is using a more effecient price wise system that is cheaper and less weary to use. No moving part in the lighthouses and no need to continously turn the lighthouses on off after use because they are USB powered.
