Most western women compete against men and see housework as degrading and conceding. But they are ok at men paying and doing the ‘blue chores’. Most men I know want to provide for a good woman and be a good father, but have also taken on ‘pink chores’, so it’s a luxury to have a maid.

I live in Thailand, but don’t particularly care to hire a Thai woman as a maid. I understand there are many Filipinas working overseas as maids or babysitters, but usually in Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, or in the Gulf countries (Saudi, Kuwait, etc). Rarely do I hear of Filipinas working in Thailand as maids, although many come there to work as English teachers. Do I just need to take a trip to Manila or Cebu, and hire one? Would seem like a very complicated process, getting NBI check, passport, etc. My second choice would be a maid from Indonesia, but they are even more rare in Thailand. no you don't have to go here in the phils.if you would hire a filipina as a housemaid.its up to you if you required her to get police and nbi clearance for you and your family's security purposes.i think its depends phil-thai bilateral relations and thai labor laws which i guess are the ones which should make precedence on that regard.
Thank you for your comments. A background clearance will be required whether I hire in the Philippines or here in Thailand (probably a health check as well). I've already familiarized myself with Thai labor laws. Seems my first (and probably not my only problem) is actually finding a Filipina in Thailand. I might be better off going to Philippines and see how it goes. Definitely some risk- what if she doesn't work out? Send her back, and start all over again. I have already contacted a maid placement agency in Manila. They haven't promised anything but seem to be helpful up to now.
@@Adair9800 i suggest that you go to the website of phil.overseas employment administration (poea.gov.ph).thats our government agency under the department of labor thats specifically deals with filipino overseas labor employment to check out their accredited legitimate employment agencies.
I think having a filipina maid is a smart move. You can have her cook, clean, get groceries, and so on. Have her come over three times a week, and pay her about 28k php monthly.
@@billcostello7769 It seems like a fair price considering that she'll be doing multiple tasks besides cleaning. If she's going to the market for me think about the pros. I won't have to deal with traffic, paying extra, and slow lines at the store. She'll be saving me time and money. I don't have a problem with paying it forward. Also I don't want to show respect to her. Since she's working hard for me, I want to reward that type of behavior. I won't have to worry about her stealing or any other bs like that.
Being a maid, doesn't make them less of a Woman. My Mother and I BOTH worked in janitorial services....and we were good at it. If she is a trustworthy Woman, and a good maid....chances are she'll be a good Wife and you'll want to hire a Maid to take that pressure off of her. Hire her Mom...Sister..Aunt..that is helping to support her family
It is never a good idea to start a relationship with the help . Most maids are married or separated from their husbands, and that can become a problem. Keep things professional, and i highly recommend not having a live-in maid . Your costs will skyrocket from having to provide accommodation and medical aid and sustenance. If you do eventually get a girlfriend, she will not want any other woman in the house. Having a maid service come in every couple of days or once a week is preferable as you don't have to incur the extra expenses. It depends on your needs and how well you can take care of yourself. Many men who are still self-sufficient don't need a full-time maid or caregiver and can save a lot of money. Some maids may want to go the extra mile, but i highly recommend not going down that road .

There is the “Foreigner Tax” which is one big reason to hire or live with a Philippina - Saving $200/month can definitely pay for a Philippina maid once a week.
dont do it! The phillippine court will rule that you are common law married and you have to support her, her family, any kinds she may of had before. Check on the new laws in PI. They are mostly made for use against foreigners. If you cohabitate and and participate in married activities (ie SEX) they will claim that you are now married to her and everyone associated with her. The common law marriage law in PI are crazy and far worse than in the US because everything is left to the decision of the court and the law are very ambiguous, like there is no set amount of time to have been living together, a day, a week a month a year, it is left up to the decision of the court.

Maids are a Pain, it is slavery just like the OFW's Filipinas going abroad who work as Domestic Workers: They are overworked, abuse, underpaid, not feed a healthy food. Although Filipinas who wish to go abroad and most are educated, what is the reason of getting a College degree if you will end up being a maid. I wish the economy of the Philippines will improve so our kababayans educated or not, can get a good employment and not work for a foreigner as a slave, in addition I respect our women. The rich people can only afford to employ maids, most of the Maids come from a poor province and have no choice, not all can cook foreign food. Filipinas men and women do our own laundry by hand, wash our dishes, cleaning and more house chores. Just my opinion and observation...🙏
In the 80's here in the US many Women went to work to get ahead and increase the household income. This enabled buying a larger home,new cars ect. The only problem is the market caught up and now to afford the same home both have to work to afford the same home. Seems like family values took a backseat and the curse of capitalism, which I can't knock took over. In my area I saw a sign "homes starting in the low $400k's" . What new couple can afford that? What happened to the $200k homes? I definitely love the maid idea. Seems so sweet and simple.
That's good. This week, I will have some support at home. Just for 4 hours, I will be paying the equivalent of nearly nearly 5,000 pesos. I'm likely to spend around £180 or approximately 14,000 pesos for only 12 hours of support this whole month. I guess that the part time maid will work 20 hours a week for 5,000 pesos every 4 weeks? Here in England I pay everything by my phone app from my bank to theirs. Is everything cash in the Philippines or can bank payment be accepted? How do I pay her/my tax on this? Or is it included if I hire from an agency? The support I have in England are "self employed" so sort out their own tax situation. Yes, I'm old and need help to keep up with everything. Do you have to also hire a separate guide/driver if you want someone to help you as a tour guide? Or will some maids have a car and also do this for extra money?
