I've gotten a lot of questions in my messages asking me about general life in Shanghai or why did I choose Shanghai. Well last semester I did a video interview around the city asking people the same questions so I decided to share it with you guys. Enjoy!

I've been to.... 29 countries now? Never mainland China.... would you say Shanghai or Hong Kong for a first visit?
@Teej.Images
@Teej.Images 4 года назад
Hong Kong would be ALOT easier to travel to. Shanghai requires visas and some planning ahead of time but if that doesnt matter to you then I would say choose Shanghai first I think it has alot more uniqueness to offer than Hk

I lived and taught in Shanghai for six years, and although there were some things that initially took some time to comprehend, process and get used to, you will love it, Sandra. Be prepared to readjust your concept of 'personal space' when you are out and about in the city. And be careful when crossing the street! Being a pedestrian pretty much anywhere in Shanghai can be hazardous!

Unlucky China just close the door of education out of nation education system about 2 month ago. I think many foreigner teachers will lose jobs.

People tell me that Chinese people are racist towards black people. I’m an African American who would love to move to China in the future and I just want to know if this was true.
@muawannabe4104

Well, i thought you meant some of the people, don't you know how many chinese are married to African? Plus, i always thought caucasian & European are the ones being racist

As a native Shanghainese, I was very shocked to learn how ridiculous and horrible racism are in the U.S. while studying and working here for 8 years. Racism is a systematic issue in the U.S. with root cause from the history. Chinese history and culture is completely different. I remember I read the book "Roots: The Saga of an American Family" (translated into Chinese in 1979) when I was 12 and was so disgusted by how a group of people can treat another group of people with such cruelty and legitimize their behaviors.

It’s so weird to hear people from the most racist country in this planet and worry about another country racist . Discrimination could be happen in every corner of the world, in China, people don’t even know what is racist, those “term “ just created in the west because the special history. we ,Chinese have never invaded any country and never done slavery business, we are here more than 5000 years, everyone is natives, and the westerners have been here for invasion, rubber, in the last 200 years, that’s why today we have to develop our own defenses and weapons to protect ourselves.
