CLICK BAIT It all depends on what you are trying to achieve. High-end waxes still deliver the deepest, most luxurious paint look If you like a sharp, photo filter effect, without depth...go ceramic. Ceramic Coatings is where Detailers make their money, hence the video and the emphasis on “Let a Professional install the product.” and suggesting that you have your paint corrected friar to application My opinions only $.02

Hey Jason, I have a lot of respect for what you do and what you dream of doing. But I find that carnauba wax has a certain depth of shine that is lacking with all the ceramic coatings...SiO2 sprays etc. Not all of us are looking for a quick fix. Some of us still like the "real deal". Will still follow you on you tube and on your podcast...but there are some joys to applying a real wax that I find satisfying.

I agree mate, I used an ceramic wax for the 1st time yesterday, you can't beat a good waxing, it's the washing that's a bugger, waxing is the best part, okay took me 2 hours but seeing the end result is worth the effort, I might do a video and see how long the wax lasts in the UK cooler months , see how long it takes to dirt to build up again,

lead dog As I was watching this I was thinking the same thing. Carnauba waxes have come along way too. They are not like the Simonize from back 50 years ago. Colonite, Griots, Fuso are just an example of products that go one easily and as long as you don't leave them on for a long time come off easily. Ethos makes a liquid one that can be applied in direct sunlight, do the whole car, and start to remove where you stated with ease. Incredible ‼️ So as far as carnauba waxes being extinct, far from it 👍✌️

I am a carnauba paste wax fan... I am also used to hand waxing, tend to want to stick with what I know and am comfortable with. I am happy with the result. I am retired, do not drive a lot (or even daily) my cars are garaged, not exposed to the elements, and I can do a deep clean and wax twice a year (typically Spring and Fall) I have used Pinnacle Souveran (mostly) on the BMZ W209 and P21S on my 03 Jeep WJ, due to cost. The paint on both my "old cars" looks stunning... apart from typical age and use. *I am open minded, really want to try ceramics...

It depends on the color of your vehicle IMO, obviously brighter or really dark colors seem to benefit from wax, but I have a gray metallic truck and wax really doesn’t do much to it, it makes it more slick but the shine SLIGHTLY changes, nothing compared to other colors

I love waxes. That’s probably because I love spending a bit of my weekend waxing my car. They do have lots of benefits though. Carnuaba waxes have much better shine and glow imo compared to ceramic coatings and sealants. They are also really easy to apply, you don’t have to worry about streaks or high spots. And buffing them to a high shine is super satisfying. I use BILT hamber double speed wax and that is a blend of carnuaba and synthetic. It’s only £15, it looks better than a sealant and it’s actually got better hydrophobics and durability than most cheaper ones. It also leaves the car feeling slick. And I love reapplying it every few months on a nice warm day. Ceramic coatings are definitely important though, for the people who don’t have time or don’t want to reapply wax. But I think a freshly waxed car looks much better than a previously ceramic coated one.

Great information. Looks like I need a carnauba spray wax since I enjoy cleaning my car at least once a week and this will last about that long. Thank you!

Yup - A wash could be every day - if you dry-&-wax in one-step - you’re all set - durability is irrelevant if you dry/wax 1-Step - no-touch wash - well - technically drying/waxing isn’t washing - 🤷‍♂️

If you wax your car frequently it builds up over time. The layers build on top of one another. I genuinely enjoy waxing my truck.

I was gonna say waxing builds overtime until tbh it kinda is embedded in the paint. Ain't nothing like the old elbow grease turtle wax

I been waxing often months ago, when I discovered those Si02 sprays it felt good but noticed it wasn’t like the best. I tried Shine Armor and F1 and those other ones fb would recommend me. Turtle Wax really stepped up completely for me as I preferred a sealent. I recently used their Seal N Shine spray sealent which was $8 and noticed after a few hours of prepping my car for winter in the south (Texas) it really just looked and felt way more better. It’s gotten humid here easily in mornings and sometimes foggy. I like that the dew and just flies off my car when I drive on the freeway 🤣. I use waxes sometimes just on windows so my windows are easier to clean.

Yeah, all those spray ons are good for maintenance but really don't offer the shine, durability and protections of paste waxes. Besides, i already got my hands dirty, might as well go for the read deal.

I would say this is a fair video. I'll only add that Carnuba wax does a great job at adding depth and dimension to the paint. But you're right, the convenience of a spray on hybrid ceramic wax is tough to beat and last much longer as well.

You can have both, carnauba with ceramic technology. Or go full synthetic with Fusso and meguiars ultimate.

Old hot rod painter/detailer trick I learned many moons ago: if you get wax on plastic trim grab a pink eraser like a Pink Pearl and just erase the residue off. Common watcher suggestion: switch how you do the pricing star rating. For example cheaper has lower number of stars, more expensive has more stars. The way it is now can be confusing

Zaino Z-2 Pro is a polymer sealant that compares favorably overall with anything else ; Easy to apply, easy to wipe off, can be applied in multiple coats , first-rate gloss , concentrated---- so a little goes a long way , can be applied to the whole vehicle at once, can be applied in sun or shade .... Compare that to expensive ceramic products , short-lasting carnauba waxes etc.

I've had Armor Shield IX for about a year, waiting for an open 40-50 hours to properly apply it AND have a 48 hr window where I both have that time AND it doesn't rain. Impossible. Ceramics = Waiting for an impossible combo of perfect weather & a week off from work to do it right, or pay $2k.....yeah.

I talked to a guy at an auto paint shop. He said don't use waxes because researchers have found that it focuses the sun or something like that and causes the paint to overheat and fail prematurily. He said to use non-wax glaze instead. I asked about Nu Finish and he said that was good stuff. I've been using it for years - only have to apply once a year. If you don't believe me, talk to some car paint professionals your own self.

I have that Maguiers "ceramic wax" blue bottle. Soent about half of it and never used it again. It's a piece of crap. On the other hand I use a quick detailing spray after a wash and also keep it in my trunk for removing bird poop as he said in the video. THAT thing is AMAZING! I think Angelwax is the brand. I bought into the hype and bought that blue piece of sh...t, but eventually found this other thing, that is also cheaper to work much better

Cant agree with you here. You're showcasing Turtlewax, probably one of the worst waxes you can use. I see AM Details waxes in shot, these are fantastic, especially the ceramic wax. I've used a fair amount of sealants and I have waxes that outlive them (non ceramic). I dont know what you're doing to take 3 hours waxing a car mate. You say sealants are twice as much as a pot of wax but a 200ml pot of wax will easily outlive a 500ml spray bottle, to me the wax is more cost effective!

I wish that I could have watched this video because it looks like a lot of products were going to be explained. However, there are two bad issues with this video: 1) Very irritating fading in and out of background music. It sounds like a bad radio station reception struggling to give you the music. 2) Products on the table blurry while the host is clear sitting behind the table.

I would say 90% of this video is correct. paste waxes after a really good soapy wash with a buffer 100% will last longer then and spray on applicant. I've used damn near every spray on product and non of them last more then a week even garage kept. if you drive ur car every day you will want a paste and buffer then maybe a spray on top coat to help. just wipe down once a day. the other thing is this. ceramic coatings are expensive as hell done by a professional. also I have NEVER seen a ceramic last longer then maybe 3 to 4 months. due to Mother Nature. hot to cool and baking sun after a good rain. bugs and road tar. it will never stay the exact same once you get it down you are 10 min down the road. now a big factor is if your vehicle is garage kept. if it is okay then I can see maybe 6 months. one huge thing is specifically in the summer time when you get pollen in the air mixed with rain. pollen can literally peal any protectant applicant off if it isn't covered or protected in anyway. ceramic is basically meant for rain. art least for majority of the population people hate water spotting once a week. idk. this is all from personal experience. love the videos. thanks.
