Interesting video Eddie, as a Tanzanian living in North America, I'm truly glad for the most part that you are enjoying Tanzania. If may, there is a couple of points I'd like to clarify for you & maybe other viewers. 1. As you have noticed, we have very strict laws on land ownership and property. These are mainly to protect locals from losing their land to foreigners. since most Tanzanians are impoverished, it would be very easy for an influx of foreigners to price them out of the market. These types of laws are actually common in east African nations. 2. Yes, immigration law isn't favorable either, even for diasporans. The truth of the matter is that Tanzania or East Africans, in general, don't have the incentive to have repatriation laws like most West African nations. There are no cultural or historic links with Diasporan as most diasporans are descendants of West/Central African tribes. So while you are "repatriating" to Africa, you are "immigrating" to Tanzania. In Africa, the same concept of blackness that exists in the western world doesn't not apply, your ethnic identity is paramount. 3. Lastly, Tanzania is a wonderful place to live, not an easy adjustment but wonderful nonetheless. nevertheless, it is true that countries like, Ghana, Gambia or Guinea do have more favorable policies so they are worth a try, especially Ghana from what I hear. All the best with your journey, whether you choose to stay or leave.

Yo this is a dope comment. And you are right I like that the tz laws protect tz citizens. One of the reasons I came to tz. I knew coming here land ownership laws so that is not to big o complaint for me but I do want to tell those thinking of moving to tz that fact. You have a incredible country and I hope many more Dispora come and visit.

This conversation has overall been fruitful and informative. I just have one caveat to add, mainly because I see that it is a recurring theme on related videos. That is the concept of repatriation. Repatriation by definition is a person returning to his/her own country. You can not repatriation to a continent. So our brother above is essentially immigrating to Tanzania. It is important to make this distinction, as it allows diasporans to have proper expectations. Being a Tanzanian living here in the West, I know most diasporans view Africa as a whole, they don't really understand Africa is a complex continent and that concept of "blackness" is foreign to Africa. All this to say, diasporans when thinking of relocating to Africa, should approach it as immigration, not repatriation. Especially East Africa as we don't have repatriation policies like West Africa since most diasporans are descendants of West and Central Africans. The same way a White American would not repatriate to Europe, he/she would immigrate to whichever country. Asante sana
@HisFinEco
@HisFinEco 3 года назад
@Coz J No is saying you can't. I'm just stating the fact that it is not "repatriation".Repatriation is the process of returning an asset, an item of symbolic value, or a person-voluntarily or forcibly-to its owner or their place of origin or citizenship" that is the definition of Repatriation, under the logic you just stated anyone can "repatriate to Africa" as "all humans" have ancestral links to Africa. Repatriation is a term that links a person to a nation or national, cultural, ethnic, etc identity. It's the same logic as I a Tanzanian Swahili can not "repatriate" to Ghana. I'm black, African too but it is immigration, not repatriation. As I have no ancestral, national, cultural, ethnic links to that Ghana or any of the ethnic people there. It's the same logic why a white American of let's say, Russian ancestry can not repatriate to Scotland just because he is white and of European descent. I hope this explanation provides more clarity

@@HisFinEco man thanks for the insight... I've had terrible experiences trying to explain to most diasporans who view africa from a utopian point of view disregarding the fact that africa has over 50 sovereign states which implies that the set laws are absolutely different based on culture, religion, colonialism etc The land policies are harsh for those who are not part of a particular clan, the only land thats kinda available for the public is where you find towns & cities the rest is for locals and the only way to have access to it... you should've a legit patriach family lineage thus you've all the ancestral rights to claim your share rather communal share NB: you can't inherit land / property from your maternal side ( communal stuff )

Tbh, I don't understand these complaints.. This is what we Africans go through when trying to get into the US/UK even as a visitor! To go for undergraduate program in the US, you must demonstrate ability to pay tuition( bank statement with at least $50k in the account). The UK is even more costly. Even as a visitor you must demonstrate ability to support yourself in the US/UK. I know this as I have been to both countries both as a student and as a visitor. We comply without complaining. Any country is interested in admitting immigrants who contribute to the economy, Tanzania is no different. I think some of these returnees have very little experience Travelling or living outside of the US. My advise, all the online research will not help you. Reach out to citizens of the country you are interested in settling in who are in the US,they will tell you more about the country and possibly set you up with plugs who can help you transition easier. This is what all immigrants to the US do, connect with a plug to help transition. Anywho Good luck in your search for a country that is the right fit.

@Dre Dre, a country like Tanzania does not even allow dual citizenship. If you are ready to give up American citizenship they probably can do something in the near future. But as we know, many are not ready to give up American/UK citizenships and I am not blaming them in no way. So in reality many are not at the moment "trying to come back home". It's more like trying to visit back home ,see how life is, connect with the motherland spiritually, explore opportunities etc. even live there AS a citizen of a westernized country.

As far as citizenship as a diaspora, like it or not our ancestors was taken from their land and did not relinquish their citizenship. So people who want reparation should be given automatic citizenship without question by the governing body. As a moral obligation to rewrite the wrong of the pass morality. Other from that it's not worth the time and effort to travel or invest in country. Who dont care of what happened in the pass and is make it difficult for any diaspora to return. In truth Respect comes with respect through ones moral to do right.
@KuttyJoe
@KuttyJoe 3 года назад
That's an interesting perspective. I think it's kind of extreme to say that it's not worth the time to travel if they don't automatically welcome us there. That must still depend on the reason you're going to Africa. A lot of us of course are running away from persecution and looking for peace, so it's still worth it, even if they're not throwing open the gates and rolling out the red carpet. But if Tanzania doesn't pan out for me, I'm heading to Ghana, or the Gambia where the path to residency is easier.

Kenya is much more capitalist and has always been. It is said Tanzanians speak a purer form of Swahili with Kenyan Swahili having more slang. Kenyans are more proficient in English which is much more widely spoken and taught. I dont know any country willing to accept free range people moving about without purpose. Questions of how one will support themselves eat live work all unanswered no money no job --no country wants to increase their population with aimless people who later further burden governments. Common sense right? The sense of 'social security' is not universal. Many realize after experiencing other places America's social constructs are actually good. Explore the world eyes wide open yes. Many people in Africa don't have an in depth understanding of what AA have/are going through, so simply "escaping" America might not resonate. Also, coming anywhere with only a few thousand dollars and no connections is risky. If you have a connect that can put you on, then a few thousand could be feasible. Might be worthwhile to go to a 3rd country and work. With a degree you can teach English in China (difficult to enter after Covid) and stack so that after 2-3 years of dedicated work with visits in between, you'd likely have the minimum capital requirements to get residency. POLICE KEPT RAIDING THE HOUSE SO THE BOYS RAN AWAY COZ THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED TO DO BUSINESS ANYMORE! BUT IT WAS ALEX JONES THAT MADE ME UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION CLEARLY!!!!!! AFRICAN IS UNDER A SITUATION CALLED "PERPETUAL SLAVERY" THE LEADERS AGREE WITH THE WEST NOT TO LET AFRICA PROGRESS OR ADVANCE. THEN THEM LEADERS WILL BE ENRICHED: SWISS BANK ACCOUNT, VILLA IN ITALY, PARIS, LONDON, ROLLS ROYCES ETC ETC. BUT THEY MUST ONLY LET AFRICA BE USED AS A PLACE WHERE THE WEST GET MINERALS: GOLD, DIAMONDS, COPPER, COLBOLT, TIN,

business visa is several thousand upfront. not including what you invest to start and build your business. If you have it then go for it but for others it may not be so easy.

Eddie, you are well informed, and well spoken. Might I make a suggestion. If you can learn the language and government set up there well enough to set up a go between business that assists Americans going there and mediate between them and the government so that paperwork and other necessities are in place.

Good information presented. For me it’s either Ghana or The Gambia because both will allow a black man to own a piece of earth. I like the president in Ghana but I hear about how expensive it is, so I keep a eye on what’s going on in The Gambia too. Might see you over there some day bruh💯😁

The reason why some countries have tight land regulation is white people have the ability to acquire these lands. It has to be a tight process. In Kenya you can Immediately own land on arrival but - you need a trustee, probably your lawyer or co-own with a friend who is already a citizen. When you use a trustee you can regain full ownership after you get citizenship.

Get your fact straight bro, No country makes you wait 15 years for citizenship, There is a process of permanent residency requrements and then after qualifying for permanent residency it is usually 5 years before you can submit an application for citizenship. If you have not looked it up then why mention it?
