Bapehead since 2000 here. I can't agree more with the dud collabs but what frustrates me the most is the recycled pieces. I don't think Nigo ever intended iconic pieces such as the shark hoodie to be released in thousands of different variations. Bape was a lot cooler and more fun when they still had the tiny stores tucked away in alleys and was still some what a secret. Bape going mainstream killed the brand. I see this happening to Supreme in the near future. Great video!
David Wong Absolutely! Supreme choosing to collaborate with ubiquitous-but-basic Louis Vuitton (instead of a Kenzo or Givenchy) was disappointing; There are way better options out there. Picking a mass market luxury brand is an odd choice considering how they started. Sadly, it’s probably an omen of things to come
Won’t happen to supreme for at least a couple of years in terms of popularity and incoming fans, they drop a box logo every season and sometimes they don’t even drop one. They understand the exclusivity. You have to keep in mind that Jebbia is still at the crown of supreme, and as long as that happens then supreme will stay exclusive and sought after

Bape is something that I always want to touch, but don't, for the exact reasons that you mentioned. Bape always has seemed very "youthful", probably what Nigo intended, but not really in a very flattering way. It's always seemed like a glorified item you'd get at Zumiez, Tilly's, etc, albeit the nice quality from yesteryear. The Doc Marten Bape collab caught my eye, because it was so minimal. But since it came out yesterday, it's already gone :P
I considered getting back into Bape, but when I saw those fakes of the shark hoodie being sold in my own chicago mall. I said "LOL, not getting back in this game just yet."

Some of the pieces from the techwear-inspired release were pretty cool but the negative association with Bape really put me off. Just looks too much like you're trying to show off, especially the sharks 🦈
The baby milo collabs are really played out now. It’s always the same designs with different characters. There is always 1 shirt with the main character and milo (like my pfp) then an ape head logo with characters inside it and a shirt with every character spaced out on the front. Still love bape as a brand but I think they should change something up a bit and be more innovative like when nigo was bringing up the brand.
Dylan Carroll yeah you got me there but it was one of my favourite baby milo collabs when it dropped around 2 years ago. Just saying even since then their collabs still use the same styles/ placement of the characters and they should switch it up by now
Paul G I agree with you. need something different.. bored of GR accessability . Rumour mill has it that Supreme X Bape collab 2 coming soon. Wonder if maybe 1 or 2 pices will be unique .. but with that it would be nice to see more of the same in a sense.. (i mean if they wanna drop like 4 different camo bogos again I wouldnt complain)

LOL! The sizing thing is so true! NO ONE knows what their size is! On another note, I find their quality to be okay if it's made in JP (usually their cut and sewn stuff, and on certain occasions their tees).
paolo cagiada mastermind Japan is one of OG streetwear of Japan and has started to get picked up back again thanks to many celebrities wearing it so the price will score high and with the collaborations with Adidas and Bape it will stay this pricy for a long time
you are absolutely right! I love mastermind and i would love to have some skull design clothes in my wardrobe, however it's very hard to find even "economic" collaboration here in Italy

I’m sad they got rid of Bapy, I was really into it back in the days. But definitely over rated and too many fakes killed the brand in my opinion. Great videos. I'm into Bape but sometimes reps are the only I and most people can afford. Like the exact same quality for $70 with barely any differences seems a no-brainer. I understand purists and stuff appreciate the real thing and I do too but sometimes it's just impossible. (Especially as the new owners don't really need the money at this point and a large amount of how unimaginative it is is because Nigo left)

Not.really true. Bape just used the same concept like with the Spider-Man hoodie that you could zip all the way to your head, andwith a Spider-Man eye on each side. Bape is the same concept but with a shark eye, and mouth instead. Not really an original idea.You're over hyping it.😂 Also I could get.something custom made with a similar concept but instead with real leather sleeves, and a leather hood for less than 300$. Bape is over priced.

I live in Phoenix Arizona wear it's super hot right now and the only street wear bands are out there are Bape , Supreme , Diamonds , Life ect ..... knock offs . ONCE NIGO SOLD IT OFF AND LEFT THE BRAND FELL APART. IT WAS NO LONGER THE EXCLUSIVE BRAND IT USED TO BE. AND THE QUALITY OF THE NEW STUFF IS GARBAGE COMPARED TO THE NIGO ERA.ALSO PLEASE DO A CASE FILE ON EVISU OR XLARGE
I got a bape hoodie n shit but all theyr stuff gets so uncomfortable to wear after a while, especially the zip ups like holy fuck I got a cold zipper stabbing into my neck.
I fucking hate it when i wear a legit hard-worked bape tee / crewneck or something, and people will just call it out fake. This mentality is what forces me to buy replicas instead. At least when people call it fake, i could just say “ yeah, it is.”
Bape is really popular everyone can recognize it but it’s not good for the price imo quality is trash but some designs are cool lots of items so you will find something you like
