After I’ve tackled every color individually I kinda wanna make a meta retrospective that just discusses every meta we’ve experienced. I bet the red video might probably end up doing that on its own though so we’ll see 😂
I like this type of video, its nice to see the history of the game and how its evolved. Having an overview like this with all of the colors helps to see what a color needs to be good or need to have nerfed for the health of the game. It also opens up future smaller update videos after each set release to check back in on the status of each color.
Thank you! I was surprised to see nobody else had done it before since it seems like every other TCG has videos like this. The “nostalgia”of revisiting the older formats makes making this kind of video fun, also cool to think newer players may have no idea just how bad their colors used to be. The yellow one is going to be incredibly short though lmao
With how efficiently blue deals with 8c bodies now it’s hard to believe it was ever a problem for them. Really goes to show how much of a difference 1 card can make.
Ivankov deck is a favourite of mine. Play lines as they come and let go of old plans quickly. Was also drawn to the Nami deck. I like the experimentation that goes on in the colour. How Blue plays by different rules.
Just started playing one piece finally and this is great! Love getting to see where the game has gone and also helps to get a base line knowledge. Very much hoping this will continue!
Wish you would have touched on Japan market a little since they are in op05 and arguably have the best blue/black leader in the game right now. I'm a black player and I'm thoroughly excited for sakazuki. I even tried Rebecca with a heavy navy build and it's fun
I recorded footage about OP05 (that’s where the random Ulti segment came from) but decided I’d rather be able to revisit making this kind of video again in the future since I actually enjoyed making it haha. I think Sakazuki is definitely better than Rebecca though, I don’t think it’s even close. Definitely maining him in OP05.
@@SmallHatCrew Yeah, I have a friend who is a purple main from the start and we had this conversation so many times, but luckily this will change as well. the question is which color will be the new blue xD
Between OP01 and OP02 we got Event Pack Jinbe. It was a hard card to get and very expensive but if you managed to get your playset as a Doffy player since op01 it did give you a much better match up against Zoro and Law. Plus the Gecko vanilla 6k was also a great addition for playing against Whitebeard. It wasn't much but the rise of red and the fall of green did allow Doffy to be so much better.
Yeah, I tried to avoid discussing cards that only benefitted a specific blue archetype and moreso focus on cards that benefitted blue as a whole so the video didn’t run too long. I cut the entire OP05 segment for this same reason. Hope that makes sense!
I agree with the takes and i think blue is the perfect complimentary color because of its removal and ability to cycle through deck. I am curious about your take on if you think rock paper scissors formats for future sets bandai releases make for healthy metas. At locals it feels like we're in a big rock paper scissors format. Blue < Yellow < Red. And black and purple just out there treading water. Not sure how I feel about it, but not complaining because it's better than red winning everything
Yeah, normally I’d be very against a format where your deck just auto loses if it plays against the wrong 3rd of the meta, but the dominance of WB literally killed my enthusiasm for the game so I’ll take any amount of diversity at this point, even if it’s minor.
Its really nice to see content like this that shows how a color hit rock bottom, have an identity crisis, and then being viable once again in the current meta. I just finished my blue deck and it's my first irl deck. set on planning to go all blue (no pun intended) main in the future so this video was a great watch. Just a question, ik it's not released yet in the west but what are your thoughts for the upcoming blue card leaks specially the blue promo luffy leader and its set?
Thank you! Regarding the blue promos, I honestly haven’t looked into them yet. I typically try to avoid looking at them until I’m with my friends so we can all live react to them together.
I moved to Tokyo the day after OP02 prerelease in the US. As a blue player, it felt good getting to skip the entire OP02 meta, then they nerfed Nami a week upon my arrival lol.
Yes! Coincidentally, we're about to enter OP07 where blue experiences a renaissance and is about to be the best it's been since OP01. In 3 months it also gets a new starter deck that buffs it making it its strongest its ever been. A blue/black leader was recently banned but he was primarily black with only 2-3 blue cards so its hard to count him.
How come there are cards that say cannot be koed, but we have 1 card that says cannot leave field..... blue removal is a bit too ridiculous when there are no cards thar say cannot be targeted by events
Because cannot leave field prevents KO, bottom decking, returning to hand, being put in life, etc. It’s protection from all of the colors unlike black’s “cannot be KOed.”
