i've said it before i'll say it again: oricorio got some incredible buffs this gen. Revelation dance is a better terra blast, aqua step is a strong dancing move, and quaquaval is by far the best feather dance user, it greatly benefits from the new anti-disruption items, etc.
I love that Kilowattrel flying makes it so their teammate is always out of frame by default 😂 But I love this team! The birds in this gen have amazing abilities, so glad that killowattrel was a surprise sweeper
Great video foofoo, stantler skill swap with eviolite is so much more viable tbh, I do think even without gimmicks stantler could be a sleeper pick. I also love Kilowattrel and think more people will pick up on how good it can be with either wind rider/competitive
In game 1 skeledirge probably survived the air slash because unaware ignores all the boosts so with screens it still had the potential to 1v4 the game. I think Kilowattrel could also see some use in rain teams, maybe thunder, hurricane, weather ball and volt switch if youre going for specs or tailwind for support, or maybe protect, it has a lot of potential in my eyes for sure!
This bird is one of my favorite new mons in gen 9, thanks for the inspiration! I've been messing around with Wind Power Kilowattrel next to Pelipper to set up rain and tailwind to wreak havoc, but it seems a bit too easy to predict and counter...
Same, gave Kilowattrel Tera-Water with Weather Ball to get a third STAB. Surprises people a lot. I’ve also run a Special Talonflame (Grass). They try to use a Water move and the Tera takes it on and uses STAB Solarbeam and boosted Flamethrower.
@@josea.ruizquinones9262 if you're running it in rain and want a water move you're better off using weather ball. Specs volt switch, thunder, hurricane and weather ball is really strong. Tera flying double stab hurricanes are insanely strong.
I honestly thought Killowattrel wasn’t that interesting in terms of pokémon designs but you always find a way to change my mind about pokémon I underestimate!
I found the designs simple yet sleek. Kinda like a falcon-like seabird. My little sister found it to be derpy, which I feel more applies to it's pre-evolved form. Those eyes....

I really love my Kilowattrel! I’ve been trying to use him in the online ladder, but I haven’t started to train him in evs at all, so uh 😢 I have a lot of work to do 😅
@@foofootoo hey foo btw, might I recommend you looking into Brambleghast? It’s not a very OP Pokemon, but it has a really strong and relatively unknown synergy with tailwind users. It also makes up for some of its weaknesses using its signature ability! I’ve been using him and Kiowattrel together (with minimal success), but I can tell that it was definitely made for doubles. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it; and would prefer to not get spoiled on the area 0 pokemon yet.
@@foofootoo Just did some calcs, because I was interested how bulky it is (252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SpDef Careful Stantler). Wihtout screens Stantler only takes about 30% from 252 Atk Jolly Garchomp and about 50% at +2 Atk, against common special attackers you also take 2-3 hits, that's super hilarious. Unfortunately Body Press users and Fighting-types snack an you. I will give this a try for sure.
Kilowattrel has Weather ball as an egg move which is pretty insane imo. On a rain team you can go for Thunder Hurricane Weather ball (100 BP water type) Tailwind And that is just ludicrously strong as a wall breaker/ sweeper If Politoad makes a return in the dlc Kilowattrel will be a terra type water volt absorb menace.
It would've been nice if the regional variants(Hisuian Growlithe, Hisuian Zorua, etc.) and regular evolutions(Wyrdeer, Ursaluna, etc.) were available in the base game without the need of DLC. They could've made them appear in Area Zero and Tera Raids, along with any items needed to evolve them. Hopefully, there will be Move Tutors in the DLC, too. I assumed that one of the sets would be Kilowattrel for a rain team knowing Thunder, Hurricane, Weather Ball, and one other move.
The moment I saw your team showcase for the 3rd battle, I realized what your plan was with Stantler and Kilowattrel! Glad to see them take off, and for Stantler to Skill Swap Bisharp's Defiant made the demonstration all the better! ^^
I got one of them early on and it never left my team. Its type is amazing and it's a fast special attacker, something I needed. In Doubles, Kilowattrel (Competitive) + Annihilape (Defiant) would make a good duo against Intimidate spammers! Edit: Omg Eviolite Stantler is genius.

Just so you know, a lot of people have said that eviolite stantler doesn't work as stantler isn't coded to be ae to evolve or something like gen 8 meltan.
I have a kilowattrel been waiting for somebody to talk about him it’s a great new mon especially with competitive. Tbh all it’s abilities have competitive use to be fair
Interestingly, Brambleghast's Wind Rider ability activates when switching into tailwind. I think these wind abilities will get some tuning in the future so the minute differences aren't so inscrutable.
Would actually change he tera type of that volt absorb with tera water, cause ground mons want to switch into electic moves and you just leave 1 weakness aka grass which isnt that common left, and there is a reason why surf is almost always run on heliolisk and raichu cause it gives great coverage. and it is not lik you will be dealing well with garchomp anyway
I'm not one to complain about performance, but when I first started S/V the performance definitely diminished my experience. But by now I think I'm desensitised to it 😆
My signature double team in SwSh was a terrain gimmick featuring terrain pulse Clawitzer, Tailwind support Naganadel, steel roller Metagross and Dhelmise, with my terrain setters being Rillaboom and Koko… this gen I’m making a wind and rain gimmick with a core of Kilowatrel, Brambleghast, and Pelliper. Still working out the rest of the team but I’m excited for this new gimmicky team.
Good under rain. Thunder/hurricane/weather ball is very good coverage and last move is volt switch. I gave it the item which boosts super effective attacks.
I run special stantler in doubles with hyper beam and earth power with Tera ground, so kilowattrel can use +2 discharge without hurting stantler. Also running him with a special set makes it so he isn’t negatively affected by his own intimidate.
Kilowattrel with Competitive is probably the best Defog punisher in the game, since every Defoger is slower and/or weak to Kilo’s STABS. Some are neutral but after a plus two boost none of the Defoggers will want to stay in. From there you can either get your free Tailwind as they switch out, hold momentum with a Volt/Turn, or just swing with an +2 attack. The poo fish kinda counter’s Watts hard but a plus 2 attack is still alot for it to handle. And if you’re too predictable maybe the opponent can hit Watts coming in to counter defog with a coverage move or a Terra Blast but with Watts planning to come in to try and get +2 SpAttack you can take some EVs outta SpAttack and invest into bulk.
Kilowattrel also could be a good wallbreaker in rain like a vanilla Zapdos, since it has Thunder, Hurricane, Weather Ball and also have the eletric immunity so it can check choice locked eletric types
I love birds and water types and this thing having volt absorb is so good for me. You can hurricane and thunder under rain while also absorbing electric attacks
Toedscruel is amazing I used it on my 3rd playthrough of Scarlet it can pack one hell of a punch and its also able to solo Rika of the Elite Four its also great in helping catch Pokemon due to having Spore which never misses.
Kilowattrel was on both my teams on Scarlet & Violet these were the Pokemon I used on my first play through of both games I have done 4 plays of each game using different Pokemon Scarlet (1st playthrough) Quaquaval Kilowattrel Pawmot Scovillain Farigiraf Baxcalibur Violet (1st playthrough) Skeledirge Kilowattrel Palafin Espathra Cetitan Daschbun It took me ages to get a Male Shiny Kilowattrel finally got one a few days ago after finding 3 Female Shiny Kilowattrel.
Try Farigaraf with Clawitzer. I had so much fun with these two together as a trick room team. Tera type dragon Clawitzer core breaks so many teams, plus farigaraf as a setter is really nice to prevent priority moves done to you.
Surely you want this on a rain team, you get Thunder and Hurricane, both of which are 100% accurate in rain and Hurricane activates charge to double your Thunder
I wish Wind Power made Kilowattrel immune to wind moves like Brambleghast's Wind Rider ability does for it, I mean why not it's not like Kilowattrel's super bulky or anything and the only major benefit is really just immunity to Icy Wind most other wind moves are resisted or neutral normally
Imagine it having Drizzle as an ability... Just having two 110 power moves which are always hitting in Thunder and Hurricane and with 125 speed does sound kinda OP.
I see Kilowattrel as a... somewhat better Zapdos considering Speed & Competitive allowing for +2 SpAtk so you could pair it with Specs to do more damage than Zapdos itself
another great way to use it in singles is on a rain team, it has weather ball, hurricane and thunder and can switch into electric type moves that might be targeting the rain setter thanks to volt absorb too
Thanks allot for the team idea's i just built a team using this killowatrell/stantler combo but i figured out a way to add bit more damage to killowatrell since it should be hyper offernsive
You are missing the most broken option IMO. Talonflame+kilowattrel lead. Kilowattrel with choice specs and electric tera, talonflame with focus sash. Turn 1, tailwind from talonflame (which is priority) gaurantees kilowattrel outspeeds everything non priority, noteably annihilape with choice scarf. Kilowattrel uses discharge and tera. This does INSANE damage. Discharge with just STAB+TTAB is already a 160 BP move, but it's doubled with charge and +50% more with choice specs for essentially 480 power move on turn one. HOWEVER, assuming talonflame doesn't get paralyzed, you can gust turn 2 into kilowattrel (make sure talonflame outspeeds kilowattrel) and get a second 480 power discharge. Talonflame goes down but it's job setting up tailwind and supporting is done and now you have 2 turns of tailwind, and the enemy should be crippled. Obviously, protect or wide guard can stop it but you have volt switch and electro ball as well if you don't want to discharge. That potentially preserves talonflame gale wings. I think it's incredibly strong.
Question. With its outstanding 125 base speed and access to tailwind would electroball not be a good move to run on it? At what speed threshold does thunderbolt become stronger than electroball?

Wind based moves aren't a new category. They've been around since Gen 1. There are new mechanics specific to them though kinda like when they introduced sound based mechanics...sound moves weren't new.
I'm curious as to whether Gimmighoul or Naclstack would work with eviolite. I like their designs better than their evos and they are somewhat defensive.
How about the double hyper offense kilowattrel paired up with damp rock drizzle pelipper? U can have never miss hurricane and thunder, plus if u use tera water with weather ball, u have extra coverage. Last slot maybe volt switch just to stay away from trouble. Item idk maybe heavy duty boot (if enemy set other weather too much) or life orb for extra pain
Wind power is too niche of an ability…. Even if you set up tailwind yourself it’s so frail that it likely gets OKOd turn 1…. 1) unlikely to activate unless self activated 2) boost recieved only last one turn 3) only boost electric moves…. Competitive is far superior with intimidate and defog very common…. +2 special attack last until you die or switch out and you can use it with either stab and even coverage moves
