It won't, The idea of "Time travel" alone put people off. It's only the suspense it builds up and then realizing it's time travel makes you want to watch it. I started watching because of it's presentation style and sound tracks. But some of my friends simply prefers something that you don't have to pay too much attention to or simply action packed rush inducing.
i find it especially impressive when you consider that there just aren’t as many german speaking actors as english speaking ones. so the fact that they found similar looking GOOD actors is amazing.
@@kartikeymeghwal3314 Well to be honest, if you go for mass appeal you have to make compromises. I rather have a show that tries to stand on its own and gets praised for its uniqueness than have it been diluded to attract its own fanbase.
this show to me is the type of show that got me wishing i could erase my memory of it and rewatch it again just to experience how fkin amazing it is once again. I've watched waaayy too many shows and this one is just something else. every single episode is just as good as the other one. and the casting!??! holy hell.. they did such an amazing job at the casting it blows my mind. every younger character looks just like their older one. this show truly deserves the number 1 spot on rotten tomatoes, tho i dont think its getting enough hype as it should've receive
Actually I realised after watching seasons 1 three times to catch up for the new seasons, I am fortunate to be able watch this one show basically forever with one year apart and not remember much of how the story really goes, and be just as impressed. It's that complex. Maybe you just have an insane memory and capacity for organizing all these relations and events haha
Kathleen Tones the second half of season two, with the exception of the scenes with Mike/Philip Gerard-the one-armed man, A very shady & unstable man from Coop’s past, and the last episode, which Lynch returned to direct, himself (I’ll say this much since you haven’t finished the second season: HUGEST cliffhanger in the history of television!), the rest is pretty much jute. Die hard fans had to wait OVER 25 years for the continuation. I’d recommend reading the Diary Of Laura Palmer between the first two seasons & the film, FIRE WALK WITH ME, then get both copies of the Twin peaks dossiers written by Mark Frost-read the first one, watch TP: The Return, and after that, read the second dossier-I’ve found that to be the most enriching way to follow.👍🏻☕️🥧
Maybe the style is compelling exactly because it is set in Germany and mostly produced and designed by german people. I think we have become so accustomed to an americano-centric style in all out media consumption that anything culturally different is so peculiar and interesting to us (and I say this as a non-anglo person whose entertainment is almost always provided by an american-centered or otherwise anglo-influcenced asthetic), which would also explain why we are drawn to new experiences (ex: Parasite, Money Heist etc.). I think it's very nice that the horizon in the entertainment industry is expanding and embracing/exploring new visuals.
Juliana Cortés I mean sure, in a way, but Dark is special even viewed through the lens of German filmmaking. Maybe it's comparable to Ozark or NBC's Hannibal in the US in this way?
I completely agree, just look at parasite. At this point all studios need for a hit is to do different from Hollywood style. Tenet might be mediocre eventually on release but look at all the hype.
Idk, I’m really into world cinema, almost half of what I watch is from other cultures, but Dark was still a massive standout just on the merit of its writing and style.
I'm not a native English speaker so watching movies and shows in English with caption isn't weird at all for me. But watching Dark in German really gives the show its own characteristic, what with the intonation and the way they speak, adds value to my watching experience. Also, learning bits and pieces of a new language never hurts. This is a great video! Will use this to convince my friends for the 3rd time.
For the third time hahaha, I’ve mentioned the show to various people here too, but they don’t get that I’m trying to give them a gem to look into, but you know they just hear “show” and they’re like oh yeah alright I’ll look into it but they don’t 😭 It’s okay, I’m just glad the people that have found this gem and are now fans of the show exist 🤟🏽 Esp. for time traveling enthusiasts and the like lol
I think the interesting thing about it is that the specific language of German helps it. German is gritty and raspy language, and I think it really helps represent the emotions and feelings of the characters really well. Normally, I hate German in a listening sense, but it is just beautiful in this specific context.
"The show is in German. That might put some people off." Why do English speakers have such a problem with movies in other languages? Is reading subtitles so difficult?
I know right? I'm not even a native English speaker and sometimes I catch myself feeling lazy over subtitles... I try not to be and I'm generally pleased with what I watch, so...
Weirdly, I like this show so much that I've started to learn German so that one day I can get the full experience (But also to learn a language from a place I find fascinating)
I’m an American who grew up watching mostly foreign films for some reason so I was definitely not put off by it, personally. I like hearing other languages
I'm a big fan of Stranger Things, Breaking Bad and Time Traveling in 12 Monkeys. This reminds me a little bit at 12 Monkeys. It has a kind of that feeling watching this Series. That moments where you think wow it is so intelligent made, just great, but Dark aslo look so much better than anything else I watched. The Style of the Show is truly incredible und the storytelling at its best. Can't wait to see season 3!!
The best Netflix Original ever made certainly. The four Doctor Who shows (Doctor Who, Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Class) tho, however questionable and inconsistent they can be/were at times, will always have a special place in my heart tho.
I always thought the song was really badly translated. Its title should actually be "Somehow, somewhere, sometime" because that's what it is in german. Also "Someday" and "Sometime" is kind of redundant.
i´ve have never seen something like dark before, it's tragic and smart and makes you question everything, the type of show that you can make crazy theories, and the real product is even crazier, i'm so hyped for season 3 that i've been dreaming about it, i strongly recommend for nolan's fans something that made me realize how dark is made for the plot and not the money it's that baran bo odar wrote the story for 3 seasons and stuck with that, even tho the series is a massive success
@@aishwarya6218 Watch Steins;gate is way better than dark (Steins gate is time traveling anime series ,very slow in 1st 2 ep but when loop starts you wont stop watching it) your opinion will change about dark after watching Steins;gate 😁 Steins;gate doesnt have that 33years past, present and future bullshit (Note there is one more version Steins gate0, watch just "Steins;gate" its anime series what i am referring) you can find this anime series on youtube and its dubbed in english :)
As a nolan fan i have high standards for Sci fi complex shows especially with time concept, this is the only show that gave me goosebumps and blown my mind away since Nolan's interstellar
i recently rewatched the show in prep for s3 and things caught my eye again and moments i didn't cry before in, i cried as i realised how tragic some of their lives become, especially Mikkel.
mikkel and ulrich's reunion BROKE my heart. i find myself getting wayy too excited for mikkel to be in scene because of how badly i want him to at least see his family again :( this show is imo perfect in every aspect.
I love the cinematography in this show. Every frame looks so composed and well thought out. You can just take a frame from almost any scene and put it in a photography book as art. Very great.
Imo dark is the best Netflix show ever. And I've seen Sex Ed, YOU, and ST. Yet I still think this show is superior. I watched it in german cus I wanted the full experience. But I might be a lil biased because my fav thing in the world is anything to do with Time travel xd. Its just fascinating. So yes dark really made my jaw drop!
It's a stellar show. Time Travel is a tricky storytelling device, as it can very easily break its own universe's logic if not handled correctly. Dark is the first show where I'm yet to find any paradoxes or plotholes...
@Adin Smith Very accurately said.I too am a bit bias towards time travel.I like stranger things too.Its just those stupid people who say a person who watches st would get his brain exploded if he watches dark.
Just the thought that someone made that up... so complicated, multi-dimensional, very detailed story, yet it's so smooth and makes sense. Unbelieveable. Such a masterpiece.
I’ve been begging all those around me to watch this show and I just don’t know why so many haven’t!!! It keeps you on your toes, you never know what’s coming and the intricate plot continuously blows your mind - amazing video!!
actually there comes a point in season 2 where you know exactly what will happen once you truly understand on an almost cellular level the premise of the time travel aspect, that everything is predetermined. That is until the finale of the last episode of season 2 of course.
The way the environment is shot reminds me a bit of Kubrick’s Shining. The town itself is a character that is just as alive as any one it. Definitely unique in its style
This series is a masterpiece. 10/10 But because I‘m german and our television is so fucking cringe, I really consider giving it a 11/10. I had to convince ONE friend for months and after he watched it, he is as obsessed as me. :D I am so hyped for season 3 and I know that it will be absolutely mind-bendingly good. (Not like current Star Wars...) ---------------------- If the show would be in english, I bet that the recognition and success would be massiv. The story (especially for a show) is superb. One of its kind. Nothing to compare. Sadly only because nativ Americans don’t usually watch foreign films/shows, they think it‘s boring. ----------------------- Edit: When somebody wants the watch more german shows, I can recommened „How to sell drugs online (fast)“ Absolutely hilarious.
I just have respect for the Germans they are just awesome and for this.. masterpiece thank you much.. it's really stand out in all as a cinema and storytelling
In the US, we aren’t opposed to watching foreign TV/films. We just have so much content that is similar and easier to comprehend. I’ve tried recommending Dark to many friends and they don’t want to give it a chance. Dark is a true gem, I’m glad I found it when it came out in 2017. Didn’t finish it until 2021 but glad I did. Dark is the best show, never believe anything else.
I like paying attention to what I am watching so this show is a blast to watch. Hands down the only show I had to rewatch the very first one to understand the second one because it is complex. Not to mention I had to map out everyone even though I have a pretty good memory just for fun.
Thing about Dark is not many things happen each episode, but what does happen is hugely important. Gives you time to digest each plot twist and bombshell, one episode at a time.
Very good essay on how Dark stands out in the modern Netflix library. I'd like to add that Dark's visual style is in my opinion quite close to that of German (crime) shows and isn't completely unfamiliar to me (other Germans might agree). I can't quite pinpoint why but especially in the beginning Dark reminded me strongly of Tatort and some teen series produced by the German publicly funded children channel (KiKa).
What made Dark stand out from the rest for me, is it's self-consistency and it being obviously planned from the start. It's like watching clockwork in slow motion, focusing on every single cog and spring as they turn and push on the next part, then finally panning out and you see the beautiful contraption it created, truly something bigger than the sum of its parts.
german dubs of pixar and disney movies are often better. the dubbing scene is bigger and more established. Most pixar movies are half as funny in english
When my brother and sister-in-law recommended to me Stranger Things I recommended Dark, and neither of them have gotten around to watching it and it's driving me insane. The main reason they don't want to watch it is simply because it's not in English, like come on...
I don’t mind watching shows that I aren’t in English. I believe it gives it character bonus points if you speak the language. So is this like a scary scary show or twisted like The OA/Westworld because I can’t stand horror?
@@nqobilemsomi3656 its more twisted than scary. a thriller/drama, but not horror. it is very drawn out and tense, but no direct scares I would say. just anxiety enducing tension
This show is incredible. I knew nothing about it going in and was totally blown away, watched all 3 seasons in a week and a half. It's like Lost mixed with Stranger Things inside of a Christopher Nolan movie. Love it.
I think you'd really like Mr. Robot. It has a truly unique style. The writing, acting, score, and story are all stunning, and the cinematography might be the best ever for a TV show.
my girlfriend convinced me to watch the show, at first i thought well shit this is just a german stranger things, but goddamn I love her more after she convinced me to watch it
The music is truly incredible and draws you into the center of the heart and mind of this series. They must have dubbed it over again, because I watched all 3 seasons in English, and I honestly couldn’t tell it was dubbed at all! The version on NetFlix in USA in 2021 is excellent in my opinion! Absolutely in love and mind blown! Will be starting to watch again right away, because there is so much I know I didn’t catch or comprehend! “What we know is a drop, what we don’t know is an ocean.”
Thank you so much for getting me into this show. This video popped up in my recommended and I watched the first 2 minutes or so and was sold. I learnt german at school and have been worried about losing my knowledge of the language recently and this show seemed perfect to get back into it. I even managed to avoid your spoiler of time travel so went in totally blind. I have only watched the first series so far but am so ready to binge watch the next 2.
Couldn't have said it better, Dark is just that good and I cannot wait for the last season ❤ My suggestion for other shows would be Mr Robot if you haven't watched that already
It's a great show, with stellar filmmaking, but I can't really get into it. It legit makes me too uncomfortable watching it, which is the point, but still. Plus, I can't compete with essays like James Manning's and Karsten Runquist's
The show aims to create feelings of paranoia and agoraphobia, and I struggle with that at times... So it just makes me feel panicky while watching it. I applaud the show for being able to do so but I can't bear it.
I watched season 1 last year and was confused and thought little of it. When I saw season 3 was coming out and it being the last season I wanted to give it another try. This summer I watched all 3 seasons and its safe to say its the best show I've ever seen, better than game of thrones, better than stranger things and way more complex, and I'm a big GOT fan. No tv show has ever impacted me more than Dark, not even GOT. I don't think Netflix will ever make a better show, even if they do stranger things ending right. I'm the only person I know that's watched it but I hope everyone who sees this will be convinced to see it because there's literally nothing like it and very few shows can match its quality
The paradox allowed the algorithm to place this video at the top of my feed. And I will forever be thankful. Just finished season 1 and all I can say is this show rivals anything I have ever seen. Thank you for this video my friend.
(minor) *SPOILER ALERT*: What I really loved about the show is the constant sense of something bad about to happen even when everything looks perfectly alright. We don't really see any sci-fi visual till the last episode of season 1. That was amazing. Keep it simple so that the audience keep on second-guessing themselves. And in the next season, given that we were able to catch on to all the time traveling that was happening, the plot moved onto another kind of complexity; in the motivation of its characters. The audience is forced to take everything at face value while still obviously believing in deeper plots just beneath the surface. Just. Masterful.
Liked for pulling off the beautiful edit moment where the ONE time someone was happy on this show coincides with her literally backing into the background while you talk about the lack of happiness. Nice writing. Keen eye. Well done.
Thank you so much! When I watched that episode I was thinking that thought about the show and then I saw that shot that does it literally. That was the tipping point for me to make this video. I'm glad you enjoyed it, I'm pretty proud of it myself.
Wow I can't believe I missed this video. Finally someone made a video essay on this series. It's been my favorite ever since it's release in 2017, and I've seen the first episode probably 50 times just from showing my friends hahaha. I thought your essay was really great, and the editing worked well with the information you were conveying!
Thanks! This is sort of aimed to be the video you'd send when you want to recommend this show to newcomers so I hope I did a good job on that! Thanks for enjoying it.
i have been so in love with dark since it was released. as someone whose native language is german even though i live in england, it was amazing to have this too. it's always got twists, i got lost in it and now the new season gets released on friday. can't wait. i'll be sad to see it finished.
This show is absolutely amazing on so many levels. Started watching, again from the beginning. Getting a refresh before the end. Which is also the beginning.
This show is amazing I watched the first two seasons in a couple days and then I waited for the third season and I really wasn’t lost as you said you need to pay attention. The story is so f*cking awesome it’s very hard to explain to others. This is my favorite show and it sticks to me like no other show. The show also teaches me a lot about time and friendship. Get your friends to watch the show. Me as a german, I’m really proud of this show as German shows normally suck. Please watch it and tell your friends/family to watch it. I’d like to write more but...
This is the second time watching this video, first time was before I started watching Dark, and the second is now just after I finished season 3. Everything you said in this video is so spot on
Brilliant piece of work.. just finished the finals! I tried watching stranger things after this... couldn't get past 2 episodes.. nope they're on a different level altogether!
This show was the one show I dedicated an entire notes document on my phone to write down anything I caught or tiny details in the background + analyzation/research. This show is so easy to get hooked onto and become obsessed with- everything is so purposeful and integrated with reason which makes it so so so amazing!! Such a phenomenal show ahhh
Also adding on to the “aesthetic” part of the show and colors- something I noticed was the usage of primary colors (and neutrals) the main characters / characters most intertwined in shit would wear reds, blues, (and then there is the iconic yellow coat!) there was also usage of greens, browns, and black + white garments as well. I tried looking for any meaning or connections behind these costume color choices but never could find anything concrete- so I would assume they translate to main emotions or state of being to that character and to help them stand out.
I‘m not going to spoil anything because I haven’t finish season three myself, but there is this one scene where a few of the characters are in the kitchen and the camera keeps going around in a circle and just slows down when the characters are not moving or changes the directions just when the characters are. This scene was so well shot and for someone who likes to take photos in different perspectives this scene was pure beauty in ma eyes.
Man I just found a gem of a channel. I love filmmaking and talking in-depth about shows/movies, but most of my friends aren’t interested in that. Dark was one of those shows that stuck with me. I was left thinking about it for weeks after finishing season 2. So much to unpack. It felt different and you put it perfectly into words. Something I’m getting better at. I’d love more of these complex breakdowns even on older movies/shows. Where you essentially can spoil the plot, because most people have seen them by now. You earned a sub from me. Cheers!
As a German, you could say I would be biased to like that show, based on that fact alone. But you have to belive me if I tell you, I mostly watch and adore foreign shows and find them far superior over most series comming out of our own studios. Shows like Breaking Bad, Mindhunter, The Bridge, Peaky Blinders, Killing Eve and many more, etc. are way ahead of most german shows, ...except for this one. I at first thought, this is just a carbon copy of Stranger Things, riding the wave of the 80s flair, having some small town youth find out about a bigger mystery...but boy was I wrong! This show was so very realistic in portraying the characters and the time they played in, I felt right back in time. Again, compared to Stranger Things, which is more in your face with their past references (look we play DnD, look Star Wars, do you remember Ghostbusters?) the setting and style is just there to support the cast, you feel the connection of the people to each other and the time they play in, without pointing you to it. Focus is on the grand story arc, accompanied by great music and all at the right pacing, never dragging along, like the review suggested. The whole show is just a fantastic masterpiece from start to finish and you see and feel, that they thought the whole season’s through from the beginning to the end, not like recent GoT ruined their grand run with the last season(s) but yes, granted...there is still one season missing, so we will have to wait and see, how it all concludes in the final chapter. All in all, highly recommended if you love mystery, time teavel and intriguing intelligent storytelling with great cinematography and score.
Loki San something is slowly changing here. I really enjoyed „Morgen hör ich auf“, too. I just wanted to watch the first episode ironically, and then I was hooked. Bastian Pastewka was great and the guy whonplays Magnus in Dark is also in it. I really hope our production studios here change already. All this crappy comedy stuff and mediocre thriller stuff goes away and the studios let creatives like the minds behinds Dark do their thing. I really, really love this show.
Stranger Things Season 1 is in my opinion almost perfect. It plays a bit into the nostalgia but only as an homage to the films that inspired it. The story is still the main focus. The subsequent seasons flipped that over its head, focusing more on references than plot. It was still enjoyable, just not as tightly written. Dark as a whole is a much more solid package.
I almost 100% agree - the only thing that ever so slightly disturbed me is that you didn't praise the music and sound design enough :D I find Dark's sound alone would be worth a whole video hahah, it creates so much tension just by itself and brings the emotional level so high when watching🤤 Nice video anyway, it's cool to listen to someone else speak so passionately about a show I love myself :)
dark is possibly the best show ever; I haven't started season 3 yet, but the way it starts the way the narrative goes, hell the way everything goes is exceptional; I genuinely think I shave watched very few film/show etc even read very few book which is so intense so complicated yet so much human
This is by far one of the best analysis of Dark. I have finished it today and will definitely rewatch it later with friends and spend hours discussing it.

Something about the style really stood out to me. Each shot is like a work of art that a lot of thought went into. It's just beautifully shot. I've never seen anything like it. The scenes are filled with huge volume of detail. I think they use some sort of full frame camera. It doesn't look like your typical.

@@pramodgautam1793 I don't think Steins;Gate is better to be honest and I really, really enjoyed it. There are 2 issues with it in my opinion: 1. The time travel system/logic is obviously different from dark but in my opinion it is a little weird that only okabe knows about the other world lines and the show does not really do a good job at making you realize that you are actually watching an okabe implanted with new memories in a parallel universe and the "original" okabe is actually still in the other world. That is the only way that this show would actually be logically consistent. 2. OP SHOULD NOT READ THIS *SPOILER* Maybe I just don't remember everything but if I recall correctly the whole world line divergence thing was about past events having such a massive impact on the future that the divergence would be big enough so that the end result is the same. The question now is, why is Mayuri's death such an important event in itself, especially when compared to kurisu's death / well-being that leads to a 3rd world war.
This show is amazing. I just have to say that I think your comment that the dub is terrible is way off base. I absolutely despise dubbed films because the dub is always so bad. But this one is done so well (90% of time anyway) that you almost never even notice it. Most of the voice over actors are fantastic and very well matched to the actors. I have no doubt that by comparison the German version is better, but I wasn’t even aware that the original version was an option so I watched the dubbed version and still loved it.
You should see Baran Bo Odar’s first film The Silence. It’s stylistically and tonally very similar to Dark. There are even several similar tropes and character types. It’s also one of the best German films I’ve ever seen.

I am learning German and this show has been recommended to me by others in my German class to watch with subtitles since hearing the native dialogue is important to the storytelling. All have also said Dark is fantastic.
This is probably the best review for the show I have come across. I was lucky enough to stumble upon the show a few days to the literal apocalypse. Hence I watched the last episode of Season 2 on June 27th. This was so satisfying. Good job on the review once again. Please do a video essay on The Wachowski's Sense 8.

it did the leg work spending most of season 1 setting the foundation (feels like nothing is happening, while at the same time feeling like something is happening) upon which it then starts to unfold an absolutely incredible plot
Really loved your video. You did great work on almost every aspect this will be my go to for bringing people to watch the show in the future. Thank you
Great video essay man. I watch a lot of these and I noticed you're a small channel so I figured I'd give you some constructive feedback. The only thing I'm left wanting is more specific examples! You did a good job of this with the soundtrack, but it would be really cool to see some technical shot breakdowns where you demonstrate exactly how the cinematography of this show stands out. You nibbled at this by showing how the camera focuses on whoever is most distressed, but I think there are a lot of other shots that break convention here that you could pick apart. I think you're doing a lot of showing with the clips you use, but often times in my case, I am playing Minecraft, folding clothes, or working on a drawing while I watch video essays. If you're going to show a clip that is particularly important, there are cues you can use in your script to let whoever is watching now that they should look at the screen. Things like "take this shot for example..." or "take a close look at Jonas' expression in this scene" will subtly let listeners know that what you're showing is more relevant than the on-topic b-roll that most video essays generally consist of. That's it man. Other than that amazing work, and I look forward to more. I haven't checked out your newer shit yet, so this may all be irrelevant, but I hope it's helpful in some way.
No, I mean in the most extreme cases of I-can't-bear-to-watch-something-that-isn't-in-English-itis, you could watch it dubbed. But I really recommend watching it in its original language with captions, cause the energy of the performances is conveyed badly through the dub.
@Frank Sobotka idk, I feel like the dubbing voice actors must deliver a similar performance? which I feel is better than reading subtitles and processing the words rather than focusing on the acting over the words
@@dpo2078 Are you 5? It's not that hard to read subtitles. Most non native english speaking people have been watching hollywood movies like this since forever.
Really well done! You captured the most artistic and technical sides of the show without even really needing to spoil the plot. I hope people on the fence about watching Dark will see this video and make up their minds, the series truly deserves more popularity.
Thanks for this video! Literally just finished season 3 after waiting for it. I watched season 1 not at all knowing anything about it and knew I found something special! All I want to add here really is one formula this show uses and actually knows how to do it well is the slow motion endings to pieces of music at the end of most episodes. I hate them in most TV or streaming shows but ‘Dark’ knows how to use them well! Something I have yet to see till season 3. So glad others are seeing how wonderfully done this show is! It only works as a show instead of a book or movie! Totally will be pushing people to watch this show for awhile! Cool video!
I went into this show blind. I didn't know anything. I haven't heard of it anywhere when I watched it earlier this year. Not even the genre. And, man, I believe that watching it without knowing anything was one of the best decisions I've made because the reveal at season 1 that it's a time travel show made my jaw drop
The style that this TV show went with had me hooked from the start and it’s kind of what prepared me for the last of us two story mode. Its why i loved the last of us two and why ive been yelling at my friends for not watching dark
One thing I love too is the casting. The appearance and acting of the actors really makes you forget the characters at different ages aren't being played by the same person.
"The camera almost always focuses on the character who is most uncomfortable..." Well, this is what almost ALL german shows und movies do. Thhis is why I cannot watch too much of it. Its like a cliché in german film.
HERES MY SYNOPSIS TO DARK USING AN APPLE & BANANA Imagine you had to pick between an apple and a banana, sounds simple, Thing is whatever we choose has already happened in the future. I decided to pick the apple and sat next to the window. My future self also did the same. My choice was pre determined. I was always gonna choose the apple. What if that pissed me off? Am I a slave to God and time? That all my choices are chosen for me and I have no free will? Let's say I do this again... I try to pick between the apple and the banana but this time, I dont want to pick the same fruit as my future self did, But I can't, whatever I pick will be the same result as my future self. I can't see what I picked in the future...... What If I could tho ?😉😋what if I could travel in time to the future. What if I went 1 yr into the future and chilled there for a few days to see what it's like, just walking around the roads and stuff Has the queen died yet? I'm betting she will in 2020 cuz that bitch never dies Now let's say I'm standing outside my house looking through the window to see which fruit I pick. My future self is sitting in the lounge watching TV and picks the banana, what a dickhead, is he trying get bullied eating dick shaped foods In front of the window like that😂 Idc tho really just tryna add some humor, I'm not actually an insecure bitch But anyways, I decided to go back to my time and try to change that decision. I'm gonna pick the apple instead Inside my head: Lool Fuck you God, U CANT PICK MY DECISIONS FOR ME, IM GONNA TRICK YOU AND CHOOSE FOR MYSELF. So I go in my lounge turn on the TV and sit down with the apple and banana on the table in front of me But suddenly, whilst I'm about to choose the apple.... BBC NEWS comes on the TV I was watching. "breaking news this just in, all apples in the UK have been infected with Coronavirus mutated strains from local farmers resulting in mass production of infected apples and apple juices all over the UK. holy shit right? So I pick up the banana eating it in disbelief. How did this happen? I mean my future self must have been through the same thing and that's why he picked the banana Was it by coincidence? Is the universe working against me so I dont change the course of events? Did I change something? Did I stand on the road somewhere when I was in the future blocking the road from a car that a farmer was driving resulting in his delay to get the right disinfectant sprays for his apples? Who knows But the point is I couldn't change it Even if I time travelled What the fuck So that means I can't change anything I dont have free will Am I just a slave to time and God?
Lets say you somehow travelled to the future to see what you did right? You go back and choose the OTHER option. Was this not predetermined as well? Even your traveling to the future was predetermined. Every action, even, instance of reality is built up to like a domino being hit in an infinite line of dominoes.
Chaos theory, the butterfly effect, absolute determinism. Everything is built up to, there is no randomness. Every action is a result of the combination of pst actions. A domino falling is the result of countless dominoes before it. So going into one future, seeing something, and then going back to try to change it, successfully changing it, was all predetermined. What happened to the reality with the eaten banana? Maybe it split into another reality. Which was always predetermined!
I started watching this after Babylon Berlin.. im trying to learn German. I'm halfway through season one and I'm very impressed so far. The story is obviously interesting, the characters are well casted, and it leans strongly to intelligent viewers. I am easily bored and crave something new that stimulates me intellectually, if you are the same you won't be let down.
