Hello, could you please help me with something ? I am a windows user without thunderbolt. The guy at the store told me not to take the twin usb stating that the converter on the newer solo usb3 was better. So I took Apollo usb3. Now I realize that I cannot use fender twin + another dsp demanding plugin like chamber. Can I record with the fender first then apply on the track a chamber after tracking the fender (don t know it there is a lost in quality in reprinting something …? Is it true that for windows I just have the choice between new Apollo solo usb3 and old Apollo twin usb and that the old Apollo twin usb is less good sounding that the new Apollo solo usb3? Thank you very very much if you could answer. At the end of the day all I wanted was a twin Apollo with usb - but he told me he just has older twin usb that we’re less good than the new Apollo. I think the guy did not have a twin usb and sold me that.

Hey man, I'm a Windows user and having different problems, but wondering if they're connected. In my case I'm just finding that my vocals sound coloured, or as though they're mildly clipping (even at low volumes). Just wondering if your issues were solved and if the update came out? I only just got the Twin X last month so should have the latest software.

Thanks for posting this info, Kurt. I've been fighting the same battle you did with a new HP TE02-0030 desktop. I bought it a couple of weeks ago to replace an older Dell desktop which lacked a Thunderbolt interface. My interface is a UAD Arrow (now called "Apollo Solo" and available in both Thunderbolt and USB versions). I bought the Arrow a few years ago for radio production and used it with a Dell 7590 laptop with Windows 10. It worked well initially, but while on a Christmas vacation on the West Coast in 2021, the gratchy audio (when playing jingles from the laptop while voice-tracking) started. Fortunately, entering the BIOS and disabling Intel SpeedStep and C1E state was all it took to fix it for the laptop. The interface still works fine with it a year or so later. But disabling that stuff on my new HP desktop (via a utility called ThrottleStop because the settings aren't available via the BIOS) was not a cure. Meanwhile, I've essentially done everything Universal Audio had you do, likewise to no avail. I'm sorry UA had no immediate fix for you, but I'm heartened to hear from you that they're working on a fix. I really would like to use the Arrow on my new desktop PC. I love the sound of the Arrow (on the laptop)! --JD the DJ

UPDATE: Just fixed the noise problem using the UAD Arrow interface with my desktop. The noise was coming from the motherboard's Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller. It provides the wired Ethernet connection. Disabling it in Device Manager eliminated the noise problem (as well as my Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, of course; however, I can still use the 'Net via the wireless adapter). It was one of the things I didn't try when troubleshooting the problem. Credit goes to the poster of this video, which explains what to do: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QHOSLshSEBg.html. I may go buy an external USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet adapter to give me a Gigabit Ethernet connection again while letting me leave the Realtek GbE controller switched off. My Dell laptop has no wired Etrhernet port, explaining why the Arrow interface worked fine with it once I switched off the Intel SpeedStep and C1E power-saving features via the BIOS.

Hi. When I tried UA products, I'm talking long long time ago. When we used to use Sound cards in PC slots. I've not tried any modern products of theirs. I purchased a Motu 2408 interface. Early days , driver issues. The last 15 or so years. Motu has worked excellently. I hope your sorted and thigs are running good .@@LexXxusTVLive

had mine 7 year no issues until they made this ua connect thing. i got rid of that as none of my native plugins work (latest Cubase and windows 11), did all you mentioned (although i couldnt find a c states option in my bios, presuming its a laptop 13th gen it didnt have it?), but yeah crackles and pops all the time then nothing for 10 mins, then comes back. so frustrating.

I spent 3 days and cannot correctly set up my Apollo Twin, they really need to add the WIFI feature for them to do do the remote troubleshooting.

Thanks. Having issue w Mac and connectivity. Wow UA hours are open 21 hours a week. Not impressed for the popularity and price. Some don't learn from myspace, AOL and blockbuster.... These issues/bugs have been working on since early 2021. I think they are struggling.

My hp omen with nvidia 1660 gtx and intel i7 core running on windows I have not have no issues just make sure you folllow all the window settings they recommend on uad website. The plugins and zero latency on my mic and any effects u can run in real time and reocrd or not record your vocal chain is the reason I got it. Now the only issue im seeing with a apollo twin usb version i only have enough dsp power to run about 10 plugins and u can offset it with runing the uadx plugins or spark plugins but u need internet connection to verify even if you own them so thats kind of a bummer. I built my set up so i can fully produce record mix all Off Line but some of the uad stuff u need internet to run witch sucks

I had slight crackling in RU-vid with my Arrow: What finally fixed it - 96kHz sample rate, 256 buffer. Any lower buffer or higher jacked things up for WDM. Experiment with different buffer sizes but I suspect it is a different number for each sample rate. If it wasn't that it was all the other settings I messed with for 4 hours

Foreal. Sad because eventually want to get a bigger Apollo as well. Might have to convert to Mac or buy an actual PC. Not a laptop. I think that could be the issue because I know a few people with Build kit PC’s and they have no issues with the Apollo products.

Hi, I bought a Apollo Twin X yesterday. My dealer told me I can't use it on a Mac that installed windows. Is that true? Or is there any solutions? Please I really need it to work on my Mac. I usually use MacOS. But this time some streaming app can only work a windows. So I have to use it in that situation. Oh I already downloaded a thunderbolt driver from Intel. Now my windows can recognize my thunderbolt 3

The bug I have with my appollo is that randomly the computer doesnt ''recognize it'' I have to shut it off and turn it on so windows finds it. sometimes this happens right after pc restart and sometimes I have to restart the computer. It's really god damn annoying for a unit I paid two thousand dollars!!

i have an old Windows 10 PC about 6 years old i have the first type apollo twin type c, ive had no issues, i see you are using Reason studio, which version? i use reason version10 and 11, the reason i mention this is because i was unable to use reason version 12 on my system, i got terrible sound breakup even at 1024 lantency sample setting, i tried upgrading my graphics card but it didnt help! i mainly use Reaper now, and reason 11 as a VST inside reaper.

Anyone that owns a apollo knows with windows there is a list of windows settings you have to turn off or change I have a Nividia 1660 gtx with intel i7 core. I have never had no issues but if the same rate is not set properly then there will be issues. Seems you have encountered a rare default witch sucks.

you can use thunderbolt too if you have the right port and/or thunderbolt adapter. The startech one they list on their site is officially approved. Official supported is best to guarentee.

my experience with Apollo Twin it's different, it is not compatible to Window 11, i had to restore Window 10 for i could use it.

I figured the twin x was too much power for my laptop I tried using it for streaming mic(SM7B) but it’ll be ready when I upgrade to a built PC

yeah like @jonely said - don't get your hopes up - it's a full blown windows only issue regardless of laptop or pc build. Their WDM driver is faulty when using inputs outside of a DAW and ASIO driver

It works flawlessly inside of a DAW but any other program that doesn't use an ASIO driver inputs will not work properly...mainly you will sound like a robot, there is a program called Asio Link pro that can remedy the situation but it's kinda wonky, took me a minute to learn...however, I think I found a different work around - I am going to try it here shortly and if it works, I will post a response and possibly make a video of my work around.

@@thirdislandproductions9708I have seen a lot of people with prebuilt's having issues, compared to people who build there own with proper specs that are 100% compatible with the protocols the are required for successful hardware communication. In my opinion, if you have a prebuilt, ditch it and go buy a PC that you know will work because you researched all the parts extensively before purchasing, like I did. Now I have a successful connection with my equipment. EVERY TIME! EVERY WINDOWS UPDATE! I'm sure they tried their best to advise you on the system you have, with it ending in a fail. Fail because the system doesn't meet the requirements. If you had enough by now, go out and do what you need to, to get the PC you require to work. Even copy my exact system if it means that much to you. Where there is a will, there is a way. How do I know, I had done the exact same thing I am advising you here, I upgraded my entire system to the best you can buy, in the end, I WIN! I hope you will too! Good luck!

I understand that people want these issues fixed and now I do too. I haven't tried OBS yet as I'm still building, so I will get to it and post my results here.

Wow i have a very similar setup haha. you gpu is insane though nice. I'm using the TB 3 card though with a startech adapter TB3 to TB2 though for my old apollo twin mk1. Still running like a dream. Sadly Intel doesn't support TB4 to TB2 though, so I had to get the TB3 pcie card, which works fine.

I get the pops and clicks also. My concern is that if it does it while I'm working it's a huge problem. Given, I haven't had time to produce, only build my studio the past 7 months, so it could be during production also. I don't know yet. If it does it while I'm in my leisure time, then I'm not so worried about it, but still it's a concern. It shouldn't happen, period. IMO.

there are no issues when using for music creation in your DAW and using the ASIO driver - it's the WDM driver - like using the microphone on Microsoft teams, Zoom meetings etc, that's when the WDM driver kicks in - which is indeed faulty. if you have a non music program that uses ASIO driver - it will work fine like OBS with ASIO driver plugin works great.

Have the same BS. It now works intermittently in Ableton and through console. Faith in fidelity eludes me. I did install the ASIO link pro workaround but think I need to reinstall as i not patched it right. Anyone have success with it on a MSI ? ( Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz 64-bit. Praying this ASIO jam will work but if not the usb option instead will have to do. This whole thing has been a trial. Was thinking they should give me some extended demo credit for this heartache. Customer services was good so far. A very personable and professional bod got back with the windows set up steps. That got me to some times working and manged to recorded and mix but then comes the buzzing and fucking crackling and you start thinking this is witchcraft.

Mine works great - however you shouldn't have to use asio link pro while actually in your DAW. I only use asio link pro while not using the asio driver, i.e. zoom, Microsoft teams, etc.

its a thunderbolt problem ! if you want the apollo for windows you should buy the usb 3 version and make sure you have a 3.2 usb input in your computer and a usb 3.2 cable to connect your apollo to your computer. then you good to go without problems. peace usb version is only in a DUO core version sadly if you want the thunderbolt version and you upgrade your pc with a thunderbolt card probably it wont work because the motherboard on your computer dont support thunderbolt. so if you want it to work you need a motherboard that supports thunderbolt. 2 options 1= use usb version with 3.2 usb input in computer and 3.2 usb cable to connect it 2= buy a new motherboard that support thunderbolt and the installation can begin if you have the nervs for it :) (make sure you save your data in a drive)

The exact same issue here. It took me hours of communication in forums, literally rebuilding my system, updating every driver for every piece of hardware, even replacing hardware - no result. Finally I got the Apollo returned to dealer. Biggest fail I could think of. For a buggy not market-ready product this is WAY too pricy.

Here are a few things I did to get my Apollo Twin X (Thunderbolt) working properly with my Razer Blade Base 2020 Edited the power plan (Power Options -> Edit Plan Settings) 1. Wireless Adapter Settings: Under power saving mode, change both 'On battery' and 'Plugged in' to 'Maximum performance' 2. USB settings: Under USB selective suspend setting: change both 'on battery' and 'plugged in' to Disabled (Not related but just in case) 3. PCI Express: Under Link state power management, change both 'On battery' and 'Plugged in' to OFF Apart from the above settings, setting the same sample rate for Windows and the Apollo got me clean audio setup without any clicks or pops.

it's not the clicks or pops from what you are stating,...however using the apollo via any DAW - it works great, obviously when using the same sample rate - it's when you have to use the WDM driver any input will be heavily distorted and unusable. are you using it for things like Zoom, Teams, or any other non ASIO function without that noise? (and without Asio link pro) ?

ASIO Link Pro worked like a charm for me. Look into it, it’s an audio routing software for multiple audio drivers on a PC set up. I couldn’t recommend it higher!

it's great but annoying that you have to use a 3rd party app for a device that will run you over a thousand dollars. Mine works too, except for xbox chat which recently got updated and won't recognize my asio link pro driver

This issue is not exclusive to the Apollo Twin... Even on the Volt. Not really usable on windows and their stuff is extremely expensive.. I don't know how they can advertise this product for windows computers.. Super frustrating.

Your problem is that it's a TB unit, the usb version would work fine... Too much risk using a TB interface on a Pc regardless of brand.

Have a monster PC without thunderbolt and a windows laptop with it, i have no idea which version of the Apollo to buy and all of the windows compatibility issues have me scared shitless. Any advice? Do I switch to mac? Do i buy the USB Apollo and use it on my desktop? Do i go for a diff interface? I have no clue. Just currently trying to gauge where the windows issues "are at" at this moment in time and if theyve been resolved at all. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the Reply@@rivenlikemakar I would say grab the USB version and see how that does. if it's still giving you issues I would move to Mac. Its big jump but worth the investment. bought mine a year and a half and it has not given me any issues whatsoever. If you don't want to make the switch I suggest trying antelope audio as well. My buddy runs windows with antelope and he swears by it. If you are positive about the Apollo and the USB version doesn't work, switch to Mac. It's been forever since this issue was addressed and they still haven't gotten around to fixing the windows problem. I wouldn't wait around if the Apollo is what you really want.

*UPDATE* The Apollo will give everyone issues on new windows laptops. If you build a PC it will work a lot better. It has something to do with The CPU and processing of the laptop.

Not true i have a twin USB and i have a built high end pc and i still have this issue in 2022 ,i have to keep turning off my Apollo and turning it back on every time to try and fix it until it does sadly

@@swedishvoice yup, it's their WDM driver that is faulty - anyone on windows trying to use an input while outside of a DAW and the ASIO driver will run into that sound. Asio Link Pro is the only known work around until UA fixes their driver (if they ever do). They have been working on Luna (MAC based) and Spark being able to natively use plugins without the DSP chips, I think it's on the back burner for them

I just built a new pc with a Asus Maximus z690 hero Wi-Fi, supposedly has 2 Thunderbolt cables but they don’t work, the Apollo Thunderbolt will turn on but won’t connect to the pc, I am beyond Fukien pist. get ahold of this crap!!!! wait it gets better!!!!! im now ultra mega pisst, i bought the apollow twin x thunderbolt 3 (1.500 fucking waisted dollars!!!! and connected it too my asus maximus rog ect well this thing will only connect once and if i deside too turn it off for a break it will not connect!!!!!! again it will just turn on but no connection!!! i read a forum were a guy had the same isses and apparently uad customer service had told him this was normal for windows 10 users !!!! lol right and they were working on a solution that was in 2020!!! ive got screen shots of the forum, man im so over this company i wish i could sue the shit out of them, waisting my hard earned money on this expensive piece of turn jsut for it too not work jesus fucking christ!!!!

@@EL_N0IR_2201 in the bottom right corner there’s typically a box. It’ll have little icons in it, like for Wi-Fi and system audio. There should be a white box with a little thunderbolt logo on it. You have to right click that and look for the connection there. If I remember correctly, you can connect and get power but you actually have to tell the system to allow the thunderbolt connection. You should see connected devices listed but make sure to “Approve Attached Devices”

they definitely are not transparent about it's capabilities - but they are hoping you are only going to use it with music applications and use their ASIO driver (which works fine) not their WDM driver which is faulty.

Hmmmm. I wish I could help but I’m not sure! The Apollo Twin X is the only thing that I have messed with. So i am not familiar with the USB Apollo.

@@thirdislandproductions9708 thnaks to have taken the time to answer. I got the apollo twin X thunderbolt and i am upgrading my PC. Like that i have the newer version anyway ;)
