Reason 1: Two things to remember and adopt as your life mantra. TIT (This is Thailand), and we are guests in their country. Don't like it here, take the next flight out. Reason 2: Not much to say other than "it is hot". If you can't stand the heat, get out of Thailand. Reason 3: There is a lifestyle for every budget, other than a zero budget. Budget is the key word. Just as you would have to budget your life in your home country based on your income, so must you do so in Thailand.

That should be the same when Asians come to a western country but it’s not. They complain they say negative things. It should be reciprocated.

I've been watching your videos for years. As I've aged, I don't enjoy the cold weather like I used to, so Thailand will be just fine. I've got my house up for sale now and hope to be in the Land of Smiles by mid-year 2024. Retirement is very close now and you keep me informed very well. Keep it up!

Thanks for sharing! Very good points there of both you and Rayan. And this goes for the majority of the countries in the world. Things are different even in neighbor countries. So if you are not adaptable and/or don't do your due diligence before moving for real, just don't make the move before you know you gonna like it there.

Hey JC! Glad to see you still going strong! My wife and I met you in Chiang Mai over 11 years ago (digital nomad at the time). I turned 40 this year, and thankfully looking at retiring early in the coming year. Wont be heading to thailand soon, have 2 young kids to raise. Perhaps check in in another 12 years once we empty the nest ❤️

I like the heat but there are times when it can be overwhelming; especially if you are doing work outside. If you are not careful, you can easily get heat exhaustion. There have been a couple of times when I have come close to passing out. With that said, it is still better than living through Canadian winters.

Incompetence is everywhere. The difference is incompetence is cheaper in Thailand. I complain all the time about someone doing a bad job in Europe because i pay a lot. Im kind of okay with that in Thailand because at least you pay a little.

Love love love Thailand & my move there is imminent, only pensioners from the UK need to know that the UK & Thailand do not have a reciprocal agreement on the yearly increase of pension funds. Basically the UK freeze ones pension at their moving time of going to live in Thailand. Meaning it doesn't increase year on year. If anyone knows a way around this, I'm sure others will be interested to know?

He says ฿40,000 a month wow! I’ll be doing great I’ll have more than 230,000 by a month coming in. I’d be spending every American dollar I get on my retirement and just surviving here sounds like I can live like a king over there . If I can keep my sanity in that kind of heat. I don’t know if I can stomach the heat. I’ve had heat exhaustion inside of a nuclear reactor. It was 160° I stayed for 38 minutes. Stay time in that kind of temperature is only 15 - 16 minutes. They say you’re more susceptible to heat exhaustion once you get it so I have to be careful. I’ll definitely have to have an air condition. I just want to come over and check it out. See if I can do it first.

As I understand it, it's not the heat that's the problem, but the 'humidity!' I suspect that's partly why there are so many bars because they are places to sit down under the air conditioning. Otherwise, everybody would just sit under the trees.

One thing to consider before moving to Thailand is your blood type. I have O negative which is very rare in Thailand or SE Asia. Having a RH negative blood type can be very problematic here in the Kingdom. In turn, I chose to jettison my retirement in Thailand and return to the US.

happiness is a fleeting illusion. it's an emo state that comes & goes, so nobody's happy all the time. the more comfortable & content one is with one's life, the more "happiness" one is likely to experience. the more balanced & harmonic with nature one is, the more contentment one finds. the *power of intention* can't be underestimated in achieving these more desirable states of being, therefore - *know thyself,* get your finances in order, grab your passport, & retire cheap in SEA baby!

They said I needed 800000 thai bath in a bank for 1 year bank statement and not two month before but a whole year before applying for a retirement non O visa in Chiang mai. So I went to Bangkok and used a visa service but I had to paid 29800 thai bath and got my 1 year visa extension with multiple entries. Why it's always a very different story we get from thai visa service companies in Chiang mai then other part of Thailand. I guess I'm paying my thai taxes in advance 😂 I hope next year if I'm still living in Thailand and not moving to Malaysia already that I can apply thru a thai visa service company with more then a full one year bank statement and hope they don't have a new story waiting for me to have to deal with. Maybe they ask for 2 years bank statements 😅 love the thai immigration new rules and updates that never make any sense to anyone 😂

The topic of alcohol at Ryan's wasn't addressed here. He is correct, tho. A lot of ex's over indulge but i like to think it's because they're new at retirement. lol, naw... they're boozers, some trying to be 35 again. A few know how to maintain. The main item that scares some is the medical issues starting to arise (or not). Not fond of Thai's med industry.

Hi JC and miss nat great video as per usual , one thing that worries me in thailand is that you have no rights compared to a thai person , I have a fairly stable life here in australia and did contemplate living in thailand but unfortunately now i am looking after an elderly parent so what is my option ? well i am going to bring my wife to australia she may like it or she may(she seems very happy but well see ) not but at the moment i really have no options but maybe later , in the other video the guy mentioned drinkers and i have watched a few videos of guys who really live on the street in pattaya and are alchaholics which is what was mentioned about spending all your retirement money on grog he also said it was hot yes it is and thats why they invented air conditioners and also malls and if there isnt a mall go to a seven eleven you aclimatise eventually when i was in the tropics in the army they gave you three months anyway enough of that good to se you back where i would like to live cha am last trip i saw an old army mate who lives in the next town (cant remeber the name ) caught the train with the concrete seatrs from bangkok anyway good to see you havent changed take care .
