Why would you get on a train and not pay the fare? Of course you will pay a fine. The UK is tough you will live from paycheck to paycheck if you are a middle income to low earner. In the USA you may struggle if you have a long term health condition, paying for health care will be a one way route to poverty. In canada some cant cope with the extreme cold... or language barriers the rest of Europe. There are no kidnappings in the UK, energy though expensive is available, roads are mostly functional. At the end of the day you chose your environment and decide where you want to be, whether this is Naija, UK or any other place.

I live here (3 gen). I have many family members who came over from Nigeria in their 20's, i know personally their struggles. The things you have outlined are true but there are many caveats and work arounds to said issues. The hostilities towards foreigners in general have gotten worse under this stream of Conservative governments. With this being the case, I would still rather live in England, with its good public services, decent climate and strict gun laws.

Your comment is quite insightful however you end by saying you would still rather live in England, vs other places …. but if you haven’t been elsewhere how do you know England is all it promises to be ? Being 3rd generation does not preclude you from the serious racism presently going on in the UK either. The UK is just not for everyone!

@BattaBox I have many international friends and family and have travelled.... England is still better. I agree it's not for everyone. I know very well that me being 3rd gen doesn't preclude me from racism but it is not like that found in the US, Vienna, Australia, UAE or even the Philippines. The cost of living is beating everyone globally, exacerbated by climate change, and poor political decisions. The UK isn't a uniquely poor choice for our brothers and sisters.

What you going on about? People that move Britain probably can see that it makes no sense in staying in Nigeria with its medieval infrastructure, corruption, failing naira and struggling economy, safety issues, poor healthcare quality. Yes, Britain is expensive but it's safe and there are opportunities to make a decent living, instead of working for 60k naira
