This happened with the NFT bandwagon where a bunch of subpar "creatives" thought they could make big bucks by throwing out terrible art as NFTs. The market soon had a bunch of really really bad art and just flooded/flushed out or buried the actual good art. Now AI has become so prevalent that it is using its very own art/creations as reference to copy from and as a result its art is becoming watered down and in many cases much much worse.

That and NFTs themselves are quite literally a useless technology and as soon as people figured out they'd been tricked into buying a reciept without a product they tanked in value purely out of worthlessness. Little of column A and a little of column B.

This answer is a bit arrogant imo. Do you really think Anyone can just learn and use something like drawing or art in just a few days?! Huh?! Why only people that have art skills before have the ability to create interesting NFT's? Art is a skill that you can learn in a year or 2 with just practicing, but it's extremely rare, and considering the immense stress of today's society and hate in the world, racism, Social issues, pressure from the environment, plus the fact that not everyone were born in a normal family (toxic and controlling parents), literally almost no one has free time to learn how to draw. you can't deny that you can just "ignore" stressful situations and move on drawing like nothing happened! It hurts! You can't focus on anything! So AI makes this process stress free by allowing people with imagination but almost no art skills to make almost whatever they wanted to You should be ashamed

@@Hongsebaoshias a professional artist, my favorite pieces of art are done by people who are just starting. I love seeing people get over the fear that they’re not good enough to be an artist, and choosing to creatively express themselves. I especially love seeing people in my life start drawing or painting, because I know I’ll get to watch them improve. I know that even if they don’t notice the change in their technical skill and style, that I’ll see the difference. Making your own art, builds your self confidence. It’s a form of healing meditation that you can use to de-stress and even help heal trauma. I suggest you look into art therapy. Drawing is one of the most universally accessible skills to learn. All you need is a pencil or pen, some paper, and five minutes to doodle several times a week. I learned to draw by scribbling in the margins of notebooks. You can too. Making ai “art” is theft. Ai is stealing from artists who have spent years refining their skills. You’d be better off commissioning a professional artist, and giving them the prompt instead. Because that’s all you’re doing, writing a prompt, and, that way, instead of stealing from artists, you’ll be paying for their services. Many of the artists who are widely considered ‘great’ come from deep trauma. I come from trauma, the artists in my life all come from trauma. We use art to heal, and we don’t use trauma as an excuse for immoral behavior. I hope you make the art you want to make, at the skill level you currently have. You can always come back later and redo it when you’re more skilled. A drawing of stick figures has more artistry than any ai generated image. You sound caught up in perfectionism. Art is a thing people do, it’s not a level of skill. You can make art, right now. I’ve had lots of people tell me that they can’t make art, and whenever I had the chance, I’ve had them sit down and make art. I’ve not known a single person who hasn’t enjoyed making art once they broke free from the idea that they couldn’t. And I’m talking about immediate gratification, after sitting down with me once, which is not enough to gain any skill, people are surprised by how much they like it. But, in order to enjoy themselves, they had to first let go of perfectionism.
@Boom-yu1ce
@Boom-yu1ce 6 месяцев назад
@@Hongsebaoshiprofessional artist here. Art isn’t a skill you learn, it’s a thing you do. Prompting an ai to generate an image doesn’t make you an artist. You’d be better off finding a professional, paying them, and giving them a prompt. Ai only works, because it has stolen the work of real artists. Midjourney, for example stole from 16,000 artists. Do you really want to support art theft? If you draw stick figure, you just made a piece of art, that makes you an artist. I’m queer, so most everyone I know comes from trauma. I don’t know anyone who uses their trauma to justify immoral behavior. I do know many people who’ve used their art as a form of healing. Art is therapy. Art is meditation. Art can help relieve you of stress. I love drawing specifically because of how accessible it is. All you need is a pencil or pen, a piece of paper, and a few spare minutes. I learned to draw by scribbling in the margins of textbooks, you can too. Shame is a useless emotion, I don’t want you to feel shame. But, I do want you to understand that your behavior is immoral, you are stealing other people’s hard work, you are stealing the work of people who are trying to make a living. I think you should stop. Perfectionism is similarly useless, and I think you are dealing with perfectionism. You are capable of expressing your creativity at the skill level you have. If all you can do is draw stick figures, you can use your imagination and draw some cool stick figures. And if you keep at it, eventually you will gain technical skill, and you can come back and redo your old work. A question you should ask yourself is: ‘Do I want to be an artist, or do I want to be a thief?’

Back in the late 2000s, Amazon launched Kindle Direct Publishing, allowing anyone to sell books on the Kindle. By removing the gatekeepers at traditional publishers, a lot of authors rushed to the service to achieve their dreams. Then authors began reporting success and even some "tricks" to get their books shown on the front page of Kindle or in emails. With that came a deluge of people flooding the service with poorly written, unedited, or otherwise disposable works. Many were paying people overseas to write books for pennies a word. All of it worked, for a time. To deal with this issue, Amazon allowed users to report issues with the books, issued refunds, and started to weigh things like review scores in how it ranked or displayed books. Those books and authors tanked. The expectations for quality went up and more authors had to turn to things like branding in order to be found or they returned to traditional publishers for help. So it is no surprise to me that using AI to produce 100 books in very little time does not work. I even tried to read one of those books, and I thought: Why would I read this over a Tom Clancy novel? There is no shortage of great books and art created by humans that buying or consuming AI content does not make sense. This is not to say that AI will not ever advance far enough to produce a book equivalent to Tom Clancy, but we are not there yet. What I do see are authors adopting AI to help them with writer's block and ideation. I think there is a balance here, where those with strong foundations in their art (color theory, characterization, plotting) can combine their human skills with AI to accelerate processes and produce more work faster, allowing them to spend more time with branding and marketing. While there is something lost when using AI as part of the process, I admit that as a writer and editor, I use ChatGPT to help me with outlines and research and I use Grammarly to help with the driest parts of editing. There are people looking to AI as a replacement for having to make an effort in learning challenging skills and risking failure. 99.9% of those people will fail and then will move on to the next "get rich quick" scheme.

We love how a seemingly insignficant conversation in one book can develop into a completely unexpected plot twist a few books later. Most of all, we love how obvious it is that the author is having a complete blast of a time in writing this series and are writing these books because there is nothing more they would love to spend their time doing. It’s not close to being good enough for a final, presentable idea, but what it creates gives me new ideas I can build on. I think that’s one of the long term use scenarios for “AI” art. I put that in quotes because this stuff isn’t really AI, it’s not really intelligent, just automated decision trees. I also use it to make art mashups of different styles and artists and I’ve created some great stuff that way which I’ve been tempted to put on a tshirt or sticker, but I don’t for precisely the reason you have outlined here! Yes, and no. I was a very popular (in fact, the MOST popular) collage artist in the period of 2014-2017. I didn't have to go to conventions or connect with anyone. People liked the art, and I was helped by the IG and Tumblr algorithms being chronological-based instead of recommendation-based (so anyone who was following me, would actually see my art). I didn't have to open up my life, or show images of my house, or what I ate that day, or where I traveled, in order to "connect" with my audience. I just posted art, and it worked just fine. Fast forward to 2020, and I decided to be a children's book-style illustrator. By that time, all these services had moved to recommendation systems and narrow AI for suggestions, instead of showing all posts of the people you follow. As much popular I was with collages, the least I was with my illustrations. Similar illustrations by others would get anywhere from 500 to 1500 likes, and I'd get 50. The system simply didn't find me engaging. So, I gave up, and I don't post anywhere anymore. But you have to ask yourself here: why do we have to open up our lives and become a brand, when we can just do art? The problem as I see it is the recommendation engines, and nothing else. I'm simply NOT interested in becoming a public person. But that doesn't mean I don't want to be a successful artist. Not to equate myself with him, but think about that: no one knows who Banksy is. He doesn't post about what he ate today. And yet, Banksy is Banksy because of his stunts, which are actually his art. But we don't know anything else about him. Why should we?

AI can be trained more ethically, and used more effectively as a tool by talented individuals. The ease in production is balanced by competition and market saturation. I was really amused at first and browsing through the bizarre images... and then I started to notice the dog had 5 legs, 30 pads on his paws, the roads were never proper roads... etc. Yah there's a lot of junk... If you don't have a good eye for details you won't notice that they're bad.

Well you need input to get output. So if you want to be rich or famous, you need to puy your time, energy and money. Simple but people always go shortcuts.

Really interesting perspective. Brand is something that all artists struggle with, though. And I don't see how it's all that different for people who use ai as tools for making art. When someone buys something, they're buying it because of you, as the person making it. Some people think about tooling, but the average consumer doesn't really get it, nor should they.

Hi Brad From the experience of an Art Director at an Advertising Modeling Agency. I completely agree with you. Your conclusions and knowledge are 100% truthful. We know each other This is a new page. You studied and advised me a lot, for which I am very grateful to you. for your time and studying information. Haomi 6 and pen. I bought this and a printer. I'm starting everything again. the old phone was broken, everything was there passwords I made everything again, all the sites from scratch))) ❤

As a consumer, knowing that ai prompting is just theft, I will never knowingly choose to purchase anything that uses it (looking at you, Christopher Paolini)

I hate this take, it's not theft. it's not worth anything but it's not theft, not any more than any other artist.

@ComfyCherry ai prompting programs are trained off of other artists' work that did not consent to having their art used. Those same programs refuse to remove artists' work when asked. It's nothing but theft.

Just one of many opinions out there, but that sounds like a shallow engagement for me personally. I enjoy buying a piece of art because of the human connection. You are buying something you find inspiring and in turn supporting the one who gave you that experience.

AI is for people that dont really care about art but like something they quickly saw. People are still going to want to buy art from actual human artists.

Yep. I had some clients that commissioned background from me longtime for youtube mixes on a regular basis. AI around the corner and they figured they can just save the money. Happened to more acquaintances as well. Saw their stable years long clients just disappear like a puff of smoke. Many people produce art as a complimentary thing next to something else (promo art, youtube backgrounds, album covers). And those are completely fucked in my circle.

The cream rises to the top. That doesn't mean people won't hit milk when they dip into the pail, but the people that want the cream know to skim the top. Shovelware and junk products are nothing new; this is just a quantity issue and there are still plenty of ways to combat it. Like getting informed about your purchases.

You make a good point about AI art being unlikely to sell profitably. However, I think most will use AI art to avoid having to buy real art.

Thank you for telling the truth. I might also add that there is more money being made teaching how to be an artist than there will ever be a market for art. Collectible art sales total only a few billion a year, yet YT tutorials are creating a surplus of millions of would-be artists and I think even human-created art has been greatly devalued as a result of this.

This is kind of funny after your Adobe video last month. No one will make money or have a career creating content with AI. AI is a tool, but needs someone creating something real and authentic, otherwise it wont be valued.

Great video. I got sucked into the whole AI thing by watching a video on how to make money with it. In the end I earned $4.08 with like 6 image sales out of 53 uploaded and like 30 rejected and just decided to give up as the ROI wasn't worth it and with the low barrier to entry floods and floods of new people were entering the market daily doing exactly the same thing and my AI Art stopped selling. I haven't made a sale for like 2 months now........ I learned a valuable lesson from this which is the easier something is to do, the more competition you will face due to more people doing it.

True that AI nonsense will make no money. But far sadder that now the thing you need to concentrate on to sell art and literature is a brand. I remember when it was, you know, expertise in your craft. A product based on brand is no more worthy of credit than a product based on AI.

6:20. Buying into an artist’s story. Heard that from potter who does art shows that considers himself a craftsman without a story. Still claims engaging the public is what sells more than the objects.

"Anyone could do that." Wrong, my grandmother definitely can't do that. Like so many people you use language wrong and say a lot of untrue things without the intention to do so.

I feel people are using AI as the solution instead of a tool. Like yeah anybody can put words into a prompt and spit out something decent but an actual artist has vision, concept, and taste and to achieve this is a lot harder in AI art than by hand. You actually have to use your knowledge and do the work, understand, composition, colors, rhythm, use a photo editing program to composite and color, programs to animate either 2D or 3D or record video.This is more of a renderer like Octane, Redshift, V-ray etc. but for any program. It can be sold, it can be used creatively watch the Lorn Entropyyy video. It's not trash, it's not made in few hours or overnight it what artists can achieve when you use your creativity which is what our job is.

Why does everyone want to be a millionaire? And do it quickly and with minimal effort? If we all do that, where will the knowledge and personal worth go? Do we deserve to be rich if we have no knowledge or talent? Why is the goal in life to be a millionaire and earn so much money? To buy the most expensive tomb in the world and then die in it? It's just a dilemma.

I sell access to my personal blog where I sometimes explain how I do my pictures and market it as such... but most people tell me they are to lazy to do it themselves and are just subbed to get my images. When you go into multiple paragraphs of prompts, controlnet, inpainting and so on you are already in the range of several hours and people don't care about spending that much time to get good pictures. So like 90% are subbed to download a few images a day and nothing more - I still continue writing my howtos, but it feels kinda pointless.
