This has been something that I have been looking into for awhile. I did some research and thought I’d pass along what I found about this ultra lightweight van camping solutions. It is truly the ultimate van no build build.
hey folks. so i have a hammock in my van now. i just traveled 10000 miles living in the van without the hammock and the van was usually on some kind of slope. now ive cleared out my old van build and im going super light and the hammock is part of that. the old bed platform weighed a lot. i really dont need all the furniture, really just my diesel heater, hammock, solar, tv tray, storage bins, a bucket, battery bank. i dont need 800 pounds of butcher blocks and 3/4 plywood.
Next level tip: I take amtrak from Town to Town For cheap them rent a uhaul van . Ser up My hammock and get around bye folding bike. Fresh aire and healthy
I agree. Forget the bulky, heavy mattress. Although I'm wondering if a bridge hammock would work. I want to have an under/over quilt always on it and cinch it up against the ceiling with multiple straps or a net. That could be a problem if you need a ceiling vent fan and there may not be enough room lengthwise for bridge hammock suspension.
I do that sometimes. I don’t sleep great in it. I have better luck with giant hammocks I can sleep sideways in, so maybe a box truck for me. It’s definitely doable
Nice. I'd like to build my van similar on the inside. What materials did you use for the wall panels and door panels? I looked for a video from you on it but didn't see anything. Thanks.
I’ve seen folks camping outdoors using an under hammock in cold weather - you don’t lay on it, it is attached under the hammock and since it doesn’t get swished, it provides more warmth
