Interesting, I am working on implementing a CRM-PSA-Accounting platform for a small-mid engineering company that is essentially a Project centric service company. Zoho is a contender. I appreciate your views as these short-comings would be an issue for this company.

Thank you. It is not too bad but there are certainly some gaps around the retainer billing. And it does not operate as seamlessly as some IT systems. A lot of engineering firms are using platforms such as total synergy or some other time tracking tools. I guess it comes down to the complexity of your billing. I would like to see some additional feautes and am hoping that this approach will prompt zoho to finish the job. They are close but not quite there.

Don't get me started on payroll in Australia. They have pointed everyone in the direction of keypay instead of building it native.

Yeah, there are a few useful features here and there but nothing that ties it all together.

They spent a lot of time spreading out and doing a lot of things only at surface level. It is time to start deepening the product and making it more sophisticated.

It's very frustrating every time I speak with the product team. I try to explain what I mean but they either don't understand or don't care.
