I like the art to Invader the best. Definitely prefer the realistic art style. Its also got the best pacing of any of the zombicides. Difficulty could have been higher for sure.
Invader is the only Zombicide I own. 1. Zombies have been done to death. 2. I like sci-fi, but have few sci-fi games. 3. It introduced concentrate fire and I really like that rule. ... but the biggest reason... 4. This KS broke me. I don't like the way CMON runs their KSs.
I just picked Invader up. It wasn’t a game I was willing to go all in on, so finding a decently priced stripped down version was hard due to the popularity of the franchise, but I’m happily adding it to my collection so I can play it as an expansion to Project Elite. Zombicide is probably in my top 25 but project elite is in my top 5.
Appreciate the insight. I've always been a huge fan of Black Plague but with little to no desire to play the other versions. Hope to back Marvel Zombies at at least the Resistance level but unsure at the moment.
Totally get you by getting rid of at least one Zombicide with more on its way. Thanks for the nice video :) For me, Invader stays simply because it is the only one where I got all the KS stuff. I agree with the difficulty and, to an extent, the style. Love the theme, though, wish I had something like a Starcraft version with zergs as enemies! Black Plague is excellent, and I enjoy it once in a while, but I don't own the extras. I managed to get the Deadeye walkers and abomination pack recently. That changed things indeed, especially with the Abominotaur IMO :) But that's it so far since things have been out of print for some time (years?). Buying from retail, I think the 2nd edition offers the best variety. Going with all extras, Black Plague indeed :)
This video breaks my heart, but I totally understand this decision. I think that UoA will surpass Invader for me, but I will integrate the enemy types from Invader for improved zombie variety
What about Invader as expansion content for Project: Elite with the official crossover pack---know you love P:E. Was that use of Z:I not enough to keep it around?
The problem with the crossover pack, and all crossover packs from CMON in general, is that it takes so little from Invader in to Project Elite. If I remember correctly there are 30 cards letting you use the base game Workers, Hunters and Tanks. If you were picking this up in the kickstarter you'd hope it would enable you to use 90% of the minis you are getting in the other game and vice versa.
I actually just bought invader, and the main reason I got it even though I have other Zombicides is Project Elite! The combo of being a variation of a game I like - zombicide, along with being an expansion for a game I love - PElite, allows it to be a great fit on my shelves.
@@Twineandribbon I was hoping there would be custom made cards to take more elements between Invader and Project Elite but sadly there doesn't seem to be a big enouhg community for either game.
I found this version easy too BUT ..... -some rules is easy to forget them - I try the retail version of the game and yes it looks sooo easy -After my first play i add abominations from Ks and that changed everything.....it looks that the retail is a half game without these extra abominations!!! -Of course you can make the difficulty of xenos deck by removing the easy cards!!!!
I'm a bit conflicted about selling my modern zombicides... After getting cdmd, I haven't found it fun(especially since COVID Ive only been playing solo). But my seasons are painted, and I hate selling things I painted. In Brazil, most people put little to no value in painted miniatures, and not only I'd be selling at a loss, I'd also be giving up some of my painting history... Always look at the game on the shelf and think about it
I think that’s true everywhere, unless your name is Squidmar or something. Painting kind of wrecks the resale. It’s kind of weird though, almost any paint job beats plain gray, and people pay for factory paint jobs that typically won’t even beat someone who’s only painted a dozen minis.
@@svachalek it's really freaking weird tbh. I know people shouldn't pay commission prices on these games, but if it's at least of passable quality, they beat by a mile an unpainted mini, and people don't wanna pay a dime for it. I mean, sure, I was the one who decided to paint it, but, there was effort involved, money, time and material spent on them
CDMD is a Zombicide killer to be sure. Scales at different player numbers better, modular nature feels more modular than "these zombies all move one extra space" or "this Abomination can run through walls!", and character advancement is more engaging. Plus the scenarios tend to be thematic and engaging IMO. (Although I'm betting that MZ will basically have every Abomination ever used before, and scaled up in power a bit) As for the pre-painted minis... they're a reminder the game is "used"and paint schemes are subjective. You love that one zombie you painted in a pin stripe suit, I hate it. You're proud of "Mr. Gorehead", I think he's a mess. You think priming in white makes the colors pop, I think they look cartoonish (or you think priming in black looks more grim, I think it dulls the colors). I'm not saying this is fair, I'm saying it's subjective, and wanting people to pay a premium for subjectivity on top of a premium for after market prices is going to be tough to make happen.
I would play any zombicide but most people can only have one in their collection and Invader is mine. The base game is quite easy although I'm puzzled why you struggled to make it tougher. Perhaps the extras from the KS helps with that and not everyone has them.
@1:10 - I really liked the variety of designs for the humans but the base aliens (aside from the hunters) were shockingly bad. The Drillers from the Darkside expansion are just very lazy and I'd question who thought it was a good idea to make EVERYTHING red to the point that you couldn't tell one alien type from another? Saying that, some of the kickstarter exclusive aliens/ abomominations are fantastic. It's a shame there will likely never be a follow up to this game. It'd be a tweak to the zombicide formula, but think theres potential for an 'Alien' inspired follow up in the style of the Nemesis. In fact Im surprised that wasn't done in during the original campaign in place of the Darkside addon
