do you have to set up the wifi connection prior to starting the grill to cook? i started up my grill and started cooking and remembered to connect to my wifi. well now i get thru all of the steps you showed, but it does not connect. it gets to 100% and then says connection error. is this because i was already cooking and tried to set it up? or is there another issue possibly?
Just used my 700 for the first time last night. The WIFI app was fantastic and I could monitor my beef brisket from anywhere in the house! Turned up the temp from 225 to 250 while in bed at 6am :) Brisket turned out perfect! Amazing product!
Drove 6 hours to Augusta to pick up new Bull. Only complaint was setting Wi-Fi. Never figured it out. I guess I’m on the 5 ghz and that’s the problem.....
Yes you can! as long as your grill is hooked up the wifi at your house, you can monitor your cooks from anywhere. But be aware that you are starting a fire remotely, just be careful your cover isn't on it ;)
No worries! Simply download the recteq app and sign in to your same account that you used before! If you have trouble signing in to your previous account, try using the "Forgot Password" tool on the sign in page. 📱👍
Would be nice if it would connect to my 2.4 ghz network! I had to spend 2 hours on the phone with my ISP to get my 5ghz disconnected and set it up on my guest network instead of my regular home network. So guys a friendly word of advice from a customer, please make your wifi connection process easier please.
Actually you have both I thought I only had 5.0 just gotta find your router how ever you set it up and change the name to have the 2.4 different name from the 5.0
I wish it was that easy to connect to wifi. Just upgraded my 680 1st gen to the wifi. I'm starting to feel it was a waste of money. Wifi doesn't work at all. I have excellent wifi coverage in my home.
Give us a call at (706)922-0890 we would love to help you out with any connecting issues. It's an easy fix... we'll have you up and running in no time.
I'm currently a mini owner, and I'm getting a 700 later this week. I'm really looking forward to making adjustments from bed in the winter. I also will like the ability to control the smoker when not at home. I currently use an iGrill, which works great for monitoring, but obviously without adjustment ability. The six year warranty makes me comfortable with the idea of integrating fancy electronics with the smoker. I'm not sure if I would have upgraded without the warranty plus the excellent customer service I have received for my mini.
No, we suggest turning your grill off and letting it run through the shutdown mode once your cook is done. Then, turn the grill back on at a low temperature to keep it warm. This will help the grill cool off much quicker. You can still simply turn the grill on low, but this will take much longer to cool down and risk overcooking your food!
I am having trouble connecting my RT 700 BULL to wifi, I believe the issues may be the router setting. The red light will stop blinking part way through the connection process and will tell me to try again. Is there any way around this? FYI, I live in Canada, would this be a issue? How would one change the router setting?
Just bought my RT700 this past weekend and set it up. I use the GOOGLE wifi router and it has a switching 2.4 ghz to 5ghz band and nothing I do will allow it to hook up with the Bull. any ideas?
Ok so how do I change my phone from 5.0 to 2.4 so that I can connect? This is my issue I am having I have fast internet 5.0 but my wife needs her speed fast for work. So I can't mess with the main source so can I do this from my phone or need a new router?
Most routers usually have both 2.4 and 5.0. I'd recommend finding which router you have and seeing if they are able to add a 2.4 to connect to the grill. After that give us a call at 706-922-0890 and we can help guide you a little more. :)
can you program in cooking steps? (i.e step 1 cook at 150 degrees for 4 hours, step 2 cook at 225 degrees until probe A reaches 145 degrees. Step3 -turn off.)?
REC TEC Grills found it and works great on my phone. Would be nice if it was available for a Samsung tablet. Doesn't come up on the tablet so either google or Samsung does not think it is compatible. This is most likely due to the "phone call" permission in the app. Since it is not a phone Samsung/Google wont let it install on the tablet. Tablet screen is bigger and would put less load on my phone.
@@recteq I actually figured it out, which is surprising for this dinosaur.... I changed the settings on the router to create a 2.4 and it connected to the app no problem! yay!!
But if I want to leave the house while my grill is cooking at home (with a competent adult standing by), can I still control the grill from my phone no matter where I am? Or does my phone also have to be connected to the wifi network?
You can create 2 networks in your router, one for 2.4 and the other for 5G. Since you've already got one for 5G, simply create a new one and select 2.4 instead of 5G. Name the new network something like 'mynet2.4'. Then change your phone to use the new 2.4 network and when you go to pair to your gill, choose the 'mynet2.4' network.
Just bring one with you. You do not have to have internet access to use a router to create a local network that should work fine as long as your in range of the wifi
I am doing my first cook, after initial burn in and a seasoning. I am doing a Boston Butt, so it is a bit of a longer cook. The app was working great until about 8 hours in. Now, I cannot pull up the temperature chart graph. It tries to load all of the plot points, doing a circular waiting symbol and then eventually tells me "Parameter or Data Error". Has anyone else run into this?
