Soviet Union did not picture himself as a bear on propaganda posters. The artists drew it as a huge strong red man, a factory worker or a soldier, and NATO was a black smaller guy.
2007: Wow, the Soviets invade the USA? That's crazy! 2014: Wow, the Soviets really invade the USA? They wouldn't be that stupid! 2022: Wow, the Soviets actually invade the USA? They'd probably be that stupid...
Massive is still around, they are just probably not the same company they since World in Conflict of made. They're just focused on The Division, and some Avatar game.
If I understand it correctly, the bear is more of a western representation of the U.S.S.R., and that most Russians don't really identify themselves with the animal.
Yes they would. Invading the continental US is utter insanity that would make Hitlers invasion of Russia look like a good idea. First of all you have to contend with the largest navy in the world cutting your supplies. The resistance would be massive and incredibly well armed, with a huge countryside to fall back into, and numerous natural barriers for defenders to hold. And with all those problems you still have to contend with an vast and lavishly equipped army.
thenoobfactor mostly likely factor that they would focus on Europe first and given account war with US would only make things worse back home since it was going to fall anyways. First few months would see Soviet victories but NATO would inflict heavy losses upon Soviet forces. US would continue to reinforce their forces and NATO will reorganize their forces to massive counteroffensive. However, Soviets would put up a stiff resistance until uprisings occurring in Eastern Europe and Soviet states would pull out their units. Last few months would see Soviets are retreating back to USSR as NATO liberated Eastern Europe from USSR. US and NATO doesn't invade USSR to avoid same mistake that Napoleon and Hitler made and hoping for USSR to sue for peace. USSR collapse after treaty was signed. Thus it is my take on One Year War.
Incorrect the Russians would crush the NATO offense very very quickly & brutally. Remember the only one who could even beat the Russians when they were defending were Colonel Sawyer, and the only Russian version was killed by his nephew who ended up dead because of this mistake. Colonel Sawyer even did recon IN TO Russia and it didn't break the front line for the Soviets.
You do realize that large ships don't necessarily mean you have a strong navy? On the contrary, it can often me the reverse! Large ships have huge profiles. What most modern navies aim at is having as many small-sized ships as possible that can effectively engage the larger, slower and less-manoeuvrable ships.
They were also aware that splitting europe in two was like heating up gasoline. The cold war had turned the world into a gaint tank of fuel-air fix. All it takes is one nation to light the spark. That one spark is the word, "attack!"
5:21: I figured that would happened if we were invaded. You can pretty much bet a lot of Americans will stand up and fight to protect their home and country. Im not sure in other states but in mine, there is guard depots that are meant for civilians in case we are ever invaded and people needed to be armed.
Good question. Although I wonder if neutrality would be feasible or unrealistic for Sweden? I don't know the geography or layout of Scandinavian transport infrastructure (circa 1989). But I theorise the Soviet incursion into Sweden may have been based on the requirements of operational tempo & logistics. Especially as NATO Norway had a shorter border with the USSR. A tightly-defended bottleneck of sorts? Perhaps this may have been the simpler non-nuclear strategic option?
I know that Sweden has a large amount of Iron ore deposits thus why the Allies and Axis scrambled over Scandinavia back in 1940 ( see Operation Wilfred and Operation Weserubung) so it is possible that the Soviets where after the vital Swedish Iron ore or maybe they just didnt want to risk the Sweds joining the Allied forces ??
I think its quite plausible-after all, it didn't say that Russian patriotism collapsed, instead merely that they were shocked to have suffered an incursion into their territory. Only part that I have a problem with was the Soviet ability to be able to invade Seattle. Even if the US pacific fleet is redeployed to the atlantic, the Soviets would still have needed to reckon with the Japanese navy.
Exactly. I wish I had that meme picture. "Priorities." That's what it comes down to. If a country would help support the US no matter what type of governing system they have... the US will support them, and that goes for any country.
@@skulldozer1462 Yeah, that post didn´t age well!^^ The Division for example turned out very different as I imagined it from the trailers...wasn´t even interested in it after I saw he real gameplay! :P
@@c4blew yeah but the World In Conflict didn't even have a sequel since the war hasn't ended yet and the original devs left after they're owned by Ubisoft ,Sierra was bankrupt and vivendi was shut down
To read with a russian accent I don't know what was at Fort Heller, but It as to be realy big for the americans to not hesitate to use a nuclear bomb to stop us Sgt Vladimir Ivanovich, one of the few russian survivor of the Cacascade Range offancive
The story is extremely plausible, but I they underestimated Russian patriotism, how the fuck would the image of the fatherland crumble if some small platoons of nato infiltrate it, I mean the Americans didnt give up after the Russian invasion either.
i'll try to blance the comments 1. 80 million gun owners in the us, well. But can a militia for example hold against very good trained infantry with tanks, choppers and tactical weapons (all kind of bombs except nuclear weapons) 2. Radar can be passed. And when a huge army attacks the US, the US army had to pull back all their troops. Thats why The red army could attack the US in that game. 3. The US had propaganda too. Or do you really think you/they havnt got Propaganda. look at WW 1 and 2
The US should have enough units at home . And also why didn't the US simply cruise missiles the fuck out the Soviet forces and bombed them back into the Stone age
@@yourlocalmemeandanimedeale807 Ever hear of M.A.D ? The U.S. do that and they guarantee the complete anihilation of the species. This is why both sides were highly against using nukes in the game and were just about forced to on the threat of losing and even then used low yield, area limited tactical nukes.
@@EarFarce4 Not only would the nuke would be used on US territory ( Seattle is in the US, not the USSR ) meaning the Soviet Union would have zero grounds to hit the US back, but what I was talking about was conventional strikes.
@@yourlocalmemeandanimedeale807 Both had ridiculous stockpiles of conventional weapons, missles included especially considering they're still trying to sell them off even today. Cascade Falls was US territory and it was only after the nuke was dropped that intelligence guessed' that the Russians wouldn't retaliate.
@@EarFarce4 That's what I'm getting at, the Soviet troops that landed would have effectively no air cover and therefore could be bombed in to the stone age. The US and USSR would only retaliate when the other launched nukes on their respective territories, therefore one can conclude that the Soviets couldn't actually retaliate with nukes on the US since the US nuked their own territory. And for the record, the US was prepared to nuke Seattle in case the Chinese landed. If MAD worked the way you think (nukes used by one side, then everybody can use it) the Soviets should have simply nuked the US forces defending against their invasion force. You don't simply guess when nukes are involved.
@Spawn40k Militarily, it is a great advantage. You got 80 million flipping mad guys that would take any chance to fire a bullet against the invaders. For the civilians, it means high ropes. It would be LAPD vs Afro-Americans (minus squad cars, plus APCs) - the enemy would be so nervous they would mistake just about anything for a firearm. "Gun, gun, gun, gun!" *machine gun fire*
My God this comment section is a cesspool. And Americans dare silence us when we complain about their media regurgitating stupid stereotypes, when they get butthurt from a very generous portrayal of their side. Also, the "Soviet" propaganda imagery in this game is just bad and doesn't look like anything actual USSR would make.
I agree with Magni56. Politics dont work like this. Politics work only in favour of the country. Pay and you gain. It is like chess. If you are sometimes willing to sacrifice a figure you can open a lot more chances to win.
@redsoxfan1984 Yeah, kinda reminds you of all the press briefings Rummy and the Bush administration fed Americans during the Iraq and Afghan wars. "Oh death throes", "stragglers", "militants", etc. etc
I just imagine a future game portraying the Ukraine war and just imagine the cutscenes for the Russian forces being like this, going from the Putin propaganda machine to what is really going on.
Imagine a future game where president of USA and CNN declaring a "complete & decicive victory over Tali*ban this year" for 20 years and yet still losing dramatically.
@ColonelAli it could be only possible if the us go bankrupt and so the us millitary would need to be reduced and maybe in that situation you could win that or launching a emp prior to the invasion could help too
@prussianhill Japan doesn't have a military or a navy. They have a defense force with small vessels. The Soviet Submarines and Battleships could easily wipe them out. The Soviets have the largest submarine ever made also that can hide in the Arctic Ice Caps.
@AzfarAizat If the americans had pulled divisions from europe to face the treath on their own soil. The russians might have gained the upper hand in germany, which was a stalemate.
@Playboybauer At your first comment, I'm not so sure... just look at what happened at Vietnam. At three, Free press is now propaganda? Yeah, a few posters here and there during ww2, but i'm not so sure it would be far as "Propaganda".
@Spawn40k That's good only in case of defensive war, but people owning guns like in the USA is wrong thing. You're having a lot of murdering and crimes. Here in Europe we have 5 times less murders than America, wonder why? Yes.
9 Years ago, funny how things change, now that murder is skyrocketing in Europe while in America, only the states that restrict gun rights seem to have the highest gun crime.
But then what if A foreign army walked into Virgina and offered independence for Virgina and other Confederate states for support against the Union then what would you do ?
@Chesteraptor Who said all i own is a shotgun? And besides if you read what i said, i was referring to me, and the rest of the Infantry unit i serve with in the National Guard, and believe me, we have a lot more than shot guns. troll harder bro
Hey, This country has 80 million gun owners, Id hope at least a few fight back if we get invaded. I know that if a foreign army walked the soil of the great state of virginia, me and rest of my boys in the stonewall brigade (116th INF Va army guard) would make them pay dearly.
@Zukhov1945 Doesn't Britain, have a lot of Gun murders, even though guns are illegal? Our Constitution gives us the right to bear arms, European countries might not but it has been established we need a well kept Militia, in case of a Military take over or invasion.
@PoliceAir It is kinda funny, but not unreasonable. Dictatorships enjoy stretching the truth and lying bold faced like to their people, trying to save face. Remember Baghdad Bob? Man, that information minister was hilarious!
Oh, hey look. The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force is the smallest, I just looked at what ships they have, and they finally just got a few destroyers in the past years. The Soviet Military has larger ships, more submarines, a bigger nuclear threat to pose on them. I bet North Korea could destroy the Japanese.
Lol comment from 10 Years ago. One does not simply destroy a small but well trained Japanese msdf with crappy ships and lesser trained men. Such an act would result in Korea being Japanese again
@TheErusian They have video and picture proof of the gas, and people talking about how Saddam used it on his own people. It is a proven fact he had gas, undisputable.
Yeah, but then at first when him and the US was still allies, the US supplied him with the ingredients to make those gas, and they have also defended him with his usage of chemical weapons in front of the UN during the first Iran-Iraq war. So yeah, dirty deeds creates more dirty deeds
