My cousin was the best…… his hood poetry touched a lot of people. To clear it up he was not killed. He died from mental issues. Our family is deeply hurt. We ask for everyone to keep our family in they’re prayers. I thank everyone for the support.
I’ve been a fan of Ra so long. And it hurt me after he died and people said, “Who is that? Who is he? What’d he do?” He was a poet. A storyteller. A writer. A musician. An artist. I would go so far as to put his writing up against literature’s finest. His songs read like a novel, a great epic, a tragedy and we all know great characters have a tragic flaw. We know he was a victim of fate and circumstance. Just look at his place of origin. Sometimes he had control of his moves like chess, other times it was beyond his control and he had to play the hand he was dealt. The streets are not a place where you can slip and recover easily. It is a predator vs prey environment. People with strong minds fall, so imagine facing all that and having mental health issues as well. The universe is cold and uncaring sometimes and it seems to me one of the sad ironies of life is that the prerequisite for being a genius is that you also have to be a little insane. I look at Ra no different than Picasso, Hemingway, Van Gogh, and so many other gifted painters and writers and musicians and philosophers and artists who blessed us with their great talent at the expense of their sanity. I too struggle with mental health, I too have had a taste of the street life..And let me say, don’t be too quick to deal in death and judgement. Until you’ve been out there and danced with those demons yourself, you will never know what it feels like. To beg God on your knees, to keep your mind, there in the darkness. Until you’ve been in a dope hole, a jail cell or a graveyard, you cannot know what it means to walk through Babylon and pray you make it through before the devil knows you are there. I am rambling, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to write so much. I just wanted to give Ra his flowers. God knows I did before he was gone too. I am from Duval County Florida and since the beginning I have been telling people here about Ra’s music. I used to love when people would come back and tell me that Ra was telling their life story through his songs. That’s the mark of a great writer, someone who can articulate the emotions you feel but you haven’t been able to explain yourself. And it is the mark of a great man that he cared enough to tell the stories of those people he met along the way in the streets and he gave a voice to the voiceless. God bless you Ra..I pray peace finally..finally found you. And I know We will see you when we cross over Jordan brother..🙏🏻❤️
The Song (Heavy) Ra really paints a picture on some OF the tragic moments/events he went through in his lifetime!! Thank you Ra for blessing us with some of the BEST music to ever come out of ATL💯💪🏾🤎🙏🏾

My homie, who is a tough critic said.. WHO IS THIS...!? and I was just like yeahh niccah wit a slick grin cuz I knew Ra was a semi-hidden treasure. I hate to hear these stories man. smh but rest in peace, you were a special talent. The people could tell! Love from Norfolk, Virginia.

My homie Big Mike managed Rara before he changed his name to Dope Boy Ra. He came to my crib to shop for Beatz. He was super dope. He made his own beats as well. He was actually signed as a young kid to Jermaine Dupri so he had a long history of talent. Hopefully the body of work he left behind will reach more people in death than it did in life. I’m glad I had an opportunity to meet him and work with him before he passed on. My condolences go out to his family. Rest up my dude.

You must've had said something very important starting at 15:02 because that's where the audio cut out. Rewound & put on captions, nothing. Same thing when using another app. The audio didn't comeback until the outro.
Ra was colder than just about all these cats out right now. Real game spittah….and was a dawg w the producing too. Could have been a legend. Gone too soon…fuck
