Widening a Narrow Nose - Rhinoplasty Surgery
I'm Dr Joseph Svidler and I'm a double board certified facial plastic surgeon currently practicing at the Seattle facial Plastic Surgery Center in Seattle Washington widening a narrow nose is a less common situation when it comes to rhinoplasty usually I see a very narrow nose either from A congenital issue meaning a person just comes in and they have a very narrow nose and a lot of times they also have breathing issues or they've had a previous surgery rhinoplasty where the nose was narrowed too much and there's not enough space between the central portion of those which is the septum and the sidewall of the nose which is the lateral cartilage so in order to widen the narrow nodes in those situations we place what's called spreader grafts to place a spacer or spreader between the septum and the sidewall of the nose to widen the sidewall of the nose and the septum when the patient takes their cast off they see the immediate change of whitening of the nose and again because the nose is wider it doesn't necessarily mean that their nose looks super wide it's more proportional so sometimes if they're mid portion of their nose it looks narrow it may also mean that the tip is wide or the Upper Bridge of the nose is wide so sometimes we have to address the tip and the bridge of the nose so while we're widening one part of those we may have to narrow the tip in the bridge to make the nose more proportional and that's where my expertise comes in as a facial plastic surgeon where I can look at the overall proportions of the nose and say we need to also address the tip of your nose and the bridge of your nose in addition to the the mid portion of your nose which appears to be narrow we also call this an hourglass appearance where the central portion of your nose kind of caves in and leaves a distinctive Shadow again we use spreader graphs to fix that situation www.westcoastface.com/nose/rh...

Can the lateral sidewalls of the nose still be widened if they were narrowed by means of preservation with pushdown technique?

I had a medical septorhinoplasty in the uk, it was free because it was medical. However my nose looks very narrow now..

Do you have pain? I had my nasal bridge narrowed (wasn’t agreed but the surgeon did it anyway while doing other stuff) and the whole year since I’ve had extreme tightness, pain and discomfort. Just feels like everything is pushing into each other and I can’t breathe well either. Really dreading the revision I’m going to have to have and wondering how much of the mess it’s going to clear up. Wish my broad nose had never been messed with.

@@BassAcoustic-ww1eu hey sorry for late reply no I have no paid, but I’m extremely depressed about my nose. The whole purpose I mainly wanted it was I hated my old nose. Now I’d do anything to have it back. I feel so guilty on my wife and kids, even though she says it’s better I can’t see how. I have seeing old photos of my old nose it’s like living in a nightmare

Hey guys I don't know if u will ready my comment but I'll write it. I'm 27 years old from Greece. I had rhinoplasthy before 6 years in a rly famous doctor here. I had problem with breathing deviated septum and others. Anyways I didn't have big bonny parts but they did it even smaller I had big tip with fat skin the bottom part of nose. They did closed technique with a lot of sutures. In the start my nose was so sensitive and hard. I got depressed. Till now I have pain and sensitivity when touch it and the result is no perfect. I don't know if I had nerve damage during surgery but I didint even know this complication existed. Idk if I should do second surgery but not very invasive because the more things you change the more complications u might have..
