Widor: 1. Orgelsymphonie op. 13 Nr. 1 - I. Prélude 

Magnifique ; on voit que Widor sait écrire une musique fort savante, avec un riche contrepoint, de très belles modulations ; il conduit avec science le discours musical, c'est remarquable. L'harmonisation de l'orgue Klais donne à cette œuvre une autre couleur que celle d'un Cavaillé Coll ; la polyphonie y est très lisible. Bravo à l'organiste.

Great selection. An intricate, compact étude in imitative, contrapuntal composition -- à la Widor. (Just playing the pedal part by itself would be a great "exercitium" in intervals and phrasing!) And having the score to follow was highly appreciated. Thank you, Herr Schneider, for sharing this intricate and satisfying work. The Klais, as always, sounds wonderful at your talented command!

Please record all Widor Symphonies! Widor is one of my favorite composers. The execution of this piece is also really well done, great job!

I don't think it sounds so French, but. . . It is a crystal clear recording without all the blurring of the large cathedrals. You can follow every note in the score. I also like the timbre of the organ. I also like the tempi and the detailed phrasing. Very much hearing forward to the 2nd symphony of Widor....
