Story is stupid. He bought the home before signing her divorce papers, so it is a joint marital asset so she still gets half the new home and half his pay for alimony. The money used to buy the home would have been considered a marital asset, so once again she gets HALF. He didn't win sh*t in this fictional story situation. She also gets a "pay raise" aka more alimony with his new raise. If you don't have a great wife today, today's modern women are not worth marrying.
