It's sad. He can nolonger hold his drumsticks. I saw a picture of him in his last concert ever with Genesis in Paris. Most painful to see this little old man sitting there in a chair with his cane... looking so helpless. I guess I hurt so bad for him because he and I are the same age, I use a cane when I walk but sometimes I have to use my upright walker and sometimes things get so bad that I have to use my mobility scooter. I don't know to what level his disabilities are but I feel for him. I was a guitar player but can't play anymore since most of the feeling is gone from my fingers. To any musician, I once heard Ringo Starr say that musicians never retire. Music is in us, that's what we know that's what we do that's who/that's what we are and once we stop, we die. I'm 71 times around the sun and over 65 years of that has been make music on some level albeit that 6yo little kid teaching himself to play guitar (like Elvis then later The Beatles) to getting my degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in music. What I guess I'm trying to say is if you were a musician you probably still are a musician down deep inside so bring it out, do something for the Phil Collins' in the world who would if they could.

Phil was a drummer long before he was a vocalist/frontman/songwriter. He didn't become a frontman until 1975 when Peter Gabriel left the band (Genesis) where he then pulled double duty in the recording studio and when not singing on stage he was always behind the drum kit with his second live drummer Chester Thompson (also in this video). During the 80's he was a busy man recording and touring with Genesis as well as his own [solo] band, and on top of that touring and recording with people like Robert Plant [of Led Zeppelin], Eric Clapton and many others as their drummer. His drumming was iconic, distinctive and in high demand by many collaborators in the industry.

Then Peter left the band for solo career. Genesis continues on with Phil until band broke up. Phil continued on with his solo career. Then he took a break to raise his family. Happy to see that a drummer chose to react to this video. As you no doubt know, Phil Collins was a drummer way before he was ever a singer front man. In fact, he’s one of the greatest rock drummers in history. As for your reaction, I want to offer a good faith suggestion. If you look at all of the top reactors, they all make some pauses for comments throughout the video. Not every other second of course, but it’s better than sitting and watching someone looking at a video and not saying a thing. I think some people are afraid to pause because they think listeners will get annoyed. Like I say, the top reactors understand that the reality is most of your viewers have already seen the video and know the artist. What we are tuning in for is to see you react, and, the vast majority of us don’t want to have to wait until the very end. Just my two cents! I wish you well with future reactions.

And that whole album is "Heavy Metal meets Ambient and Funk" Hahahaaha...lol....hahahaha...It left me "Speechless" Great Reaction from Popenyco who was the first reactor after 7 months of me requesting the song "Endless Dream" and the album "Talk" by YES.....and I Popnyco and other reactors will react to more songs on this "Talk" album from Yes released in 1994. I want you to react to the first two songs on the album "Talk." I want you to react to "The Calling" and "I'm Waiting."

I went to that concert that year in Houston. An outdoor show and I wore the white Talk concert T-shirt. Got Chris Squire and Alan White sign it back stage.

This vid of Phil was from Paris. Genesis is currently in Paris. So sad that Phil sits in a chair for the whole show because of his poor health. No longer able to drum his son Nick has taken over on drums. These are the final GENESIS shows-FOREVER!!

I saw him perform this in concert a couple of years ago, he couldn't play drums because he was recovering from back surgery, but his son played the drums, both talented, brilliant song especially live.

Phil is just so freaking good. It is sad to see him now. His health has turned on him. He can't play the drums anymore either.

Notice the entire time he is banging to drums to perfection, his eyes are closed. He's doing this out of absolute perfection. He doesn't need to look; it just happens.

You should always watch the live versions where you can for any reactions. there nothing like seeing real musicianship in action. You don't get chills from a studio version. 🙏🙏❤❤

Phil Collins was also the drummer for the jazz fusion group 'Brand X' and the music they played was incredible.

I know I'm a little late to the party but Phil was 53 years old when he did this concert in Bercy, Paris in 2004. Truly an amazing performance by Brad Cole (keyboards, synthesizers, Vocoder), Daryl Stuermer (6 String Guitar), Leland Sklar (Bass Guitar), Chester Thompson ("Rhythm" Drums) and Phil himself (vocals, drums). It was performed in front of 20,000 + people at the "Palais Omnisport de Paris" and truly was, if not the greatest, close to the greatest live performance ever. It was from his "Finally... The First Farewell" Tour and this particular concert in Bercy started with an amazing "Drums, Drums & More Drums" track performed by Phil and his other drummer, the previously mentioned Mr. Thompson. Incidentally, this track ("In the Air Tonight") was the 17th in the tracklist sandwiched between Separate Lives and Dance Into the Light. Phil had the energy he had in this song all the way through to the end of the concert (as did his musicians). Now that he can no longer drum, his son NIcholas plays drums almost as well as the old man did--literally--Phil is 70 now. His son is on the Domino tour with Genesis currently. Oh and of course, his daughter Lily is rapidly becoming a famous actress in her own right. So, he's still doing alright I suppose (tongue in cheek).

Check out the band Brand X to hear what Phil Collins is truly capable of on the drums.

I know, and he's actually a really funny guy. And wasn't it beautiful that all the phones weren't sticking up in the air and in front of people's faces and just enjoying it full on.

This is the song he wrote ..he called it a "love letter" to his ex-wife! lol It is so hard to play drums & sing at the same time! He makes it look so easy! He can still sing now....even in his 70's..but sadly cant paly the drums anymore. I think his son now plays the drums with the band.
