Angelina's arrangement. The car trip to record this was a long drive. The story I heard was that as Angelina was practicing the song on the trip, her mother listening told her she didn't like the songs story and did not want her singing this song. So while driving Angelina rewrote the words. The next day she perform her rendition. You will notice that while performing Angelina refers to her notes to remember the words.

She met the little girl in the Middle East when she was 6 and travelling with her family. She noticed the little orphan girl weighing people for money in the street and went to talk to her. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up but that she probably wouldn't be able to because she was poor. She admired Angelina's pretty green boots and Angelina saw that the girl was barefoot and had scars on her feet, so she took off her 'favourite shoes' and gave them o the girl. The girl asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina said she wanted t for the world and spread love. The little girl said she would pray for Angelina and Angelina vowed to always sing barefoot when she performed until 'all the children had shoes.' She wrote and published a book about that encounter and became the youngest published author in Norway's history. 😎

Her mom told her the original Back to Black lyrics were a bit much so Angelina rewrote them in 24hrs before this performance. So close was she that the orchestra didn't have to change anything. She is Norwegian. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of seven, blowing everyone away in the process. I think to this day the judges still can't quite believe how good she is. She can cover all the old classics because from the time she was about two, her grandmother exposed her to a lot of classic jazz and blues songs. I'm a huge Amy Winehouse fan and when her first album hit the U.S. I was at a mall in Texas and they were playing it in one of the record stores, I turned to my hubby and said, "this girl is going to be a huge star". Her voice and style was so unique, it was refreshing to hear something new. This young lady sounds so much like her, it's uncanny! I really enjoyed this reaction, Carla did a great job!

As you have noticed this is Angelina's rewrite of the lyrics. She rewrote them in the car on the way over at her mother's request and did this version cold, with no rehearsal.

As your wife said, Amy Winehouse had a very unique voice and style. I always loved Amy's voice, and never thought I would hear anyone that could capture that sound... until this 10 year old girl from Norway came along and just nailed it. She won Norway's Got Talent at age 7! Please go watch her journey there, all the songs she did, I think there were 4 songs all together! Her audition song was "I'm a Fool to Want you" which was a Billie Holiday song, done acapella! She is so relaxed and easy going in front of a crowd, it's amazing! On that show she also sang Billie Holiday's "Summertime", she had the judges in tiers, she also sang "Bang Bang" which is sad anyway! This will give you chronological place to begin seeing her journey until now at 16 plus! I think you can understand an artist better if you know their background and where they came from! There are also some family videos that are very interesting, some show what a normal kid she is and some show that with the addition of the music in her life! I don't know if it's true, but I understand she speaks 5 different languages and can play piano, guitar and flute! You might GOOGLE her and see what comes up!

Amy's (unexpurgated) lyrics are easy to find online. As other people have pointed out, Angelina's lyrics are *completely* different. Not just different here and there - *completely* different. The most the two songs have in common, lyrics-wise, is the single phrase "I love you" at the beginning of one of the verses. And even in that case, the full line is different, because Angelina sings, "I love you so", whereas Amy sang, "I love you much". Every other line of the song is _totally_ different in the two versions (apart from basic "structural similarities" - e.g., Amy's "You go back to her / And I go back to…" became Angelina's "I fall back to / I fall back in…"). Unfortunately, the version of Angelina's lyrics that is served up by a Google search is _riddled_ with errors, from the very first line onwards. Simply put, don't trust anything you read in that version of her lyrics. To illustrate what I'm talking about, the first lines of those lyrics are: "I have dumbed by your love / Crazy you say, am I? / I laugh, I cry, I love". No, no, no, no. What Angelina sings is: "I have gone mad by your love / Crazy, sick, and mad / I laugh, I cry, I love" (an extremely strong beginning!). And the errors go on from there. Sigh… Angelina's _real_ lyrics (near as I can make out, anyway) are actually _surprisingly_ good, considering that she says she had "1 day" to come up with them. Really, the only problem is that she uses the phrase "I cry" at the end of too many lines. Apart from that, there are actually some real flashes of genius in there, IMHO. If anyone is _really_ interested, I analyzed some of my favorite "highlights" from her lyrics in the comments under NxrthReacts's reaction to the song ("Angelina Jordan - Back To Black Reaction", posted on 2022-01-14). Unfortunately, I can't point you to the full lyrics I posted under a different reaction video a couple of years ago, because they were in a thread started by a user who has since disappeared from YT (so my comment also disappeared). Angelina (born 1/10/06 in Oslo, Norway) won Norway Got Talent in 2014. Yes, please… more AJ reactions from both of you. (BTW, I thought the give-and-take of the dual commentary was handled pretty darned well here, compared to some other dual reactions I've seen. Often such reactions are dominated by one party [usually the one who has already reacted to her before] at the expense of the other.) And don't worry about the sound: it was perfectly fine. I'm not sure if you want to use some kind of "system" to determine what songs you will react to alone on the other channel and what you'll react to here on this channel. Maybe just whether your wife is familiar with the original or not? Anyway, I'd hate to miss out on your wife's reaction to any of Angelina's many different voices… Next one? Maybe her original "What Is Life"? The "Acoustic" version on her official channel is by far the most popular version. (She was 12 at the time. If you want to go older, any of her recent Adele covers ("All I Ask", "Easy on Me", and an abbreviated version of "Love Is a Game" from TikTok - all posted when she was 15) would be a great choice. And finally, if you just want to be shocked at how different she can sound, you could try "How Great Thou Art", sung when she was 12 but posted over a year later and then quickly taken down for some unknown reason - it survives in the form of a fan-made music video posted by Yozhik v Tumane.

Somewhere down below someone told you about how her mother made her change the lyrics. If you go online you can find the lyrics for both versions of the song. The interesting thing about this was that Angelina rewrote the lyrics to match the arrangement that had been planned for her cover with the original lyrics. The orchestra didn't need to make any changes to accomodate Angelina's changes. At age 10 the girl is a genius.

When Angelina (from Oslo) was 6 years old, she met a homeless girl around her age in Iran. (Her grandmother is Iranian artist Mery Zamani.) The girl did not have any shoes, and Angelina says her feet were scarred. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes. Not only does Angelina honor the young homeless girl she met by performing barefoot, but she also wrote a book about the experience. It’s called Mellom to jherter (“Between two hearts”), and was published in 2015, when Angelina was only 9 years old. According to her website, Angelina then “vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world’s children had them.” She keeps that promise to this day, as she says that little girl “is always in my heart.” She arranges all of her own music.
