You’ve just discovered the best metal band there is. 49 more tracks this good… all of them. This is their default level of performance. No deviation. Asami’s vocals vary from song to song, she can sing ballads, soulful, and powerful. Her stamina and range is phenomenal.
You need to listen to it 10 more times before you can begin to absorb what you just heard, really. LOL When you do, you'll understand what I'm saying. You've barely scratched the surface of what this band can do. You're gonna get hooked.
Even though this is song is part of the Algorithm and it has been played way too much but it is an amazing song to be introduced to newcomers. This is only the tip of the iceberg and so much to hear and see what these ladies can do, they are very diversified and versatile and play any style and genre in the rock/metal world. The two guitarists Miyako and Midori are the best of the best at what they do and can easily put any male guitarist to shame if there was ever a battle. Asami the singer is just phenomenal and very explosive and soon you will see just how amazing she is if you do continue down this journey with Lovebites. Haruna the drummer is a little pocket nuke who just blows everyone away. Asami just announced her engagement to be married not too long ago, so congrats to her. Any song you chose is always a good one they have 3 albums and 4 EPs a total of 50+ songs with 2 covers and several live show recordings. So get ready and be prepared to be blown away, I am sorry but baby metal does not even come close to Lovebites, nor does any other band for that matter. This is your first song just give it time and you will eventually regret your words. My score for Lovebites is always 10 out of 10

Looks like you may not be doing a lot more of them, but just in case....Congratulations on finding the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miho and Miyako have composed most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. and aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and at this point they’ve taken it to another level. i totally agree with you. Babymetal is just created and promoted by japan music industry and majors. they are recruited on casting from zero. the only real members are the 3 dancing/singing women. the musicians behind are just hired on demand. no comparisons with Lovebites that are Musician created band ( Miho and Haruna ). they called Asami first, then Midori. Miyako was first a support musician and become permanent member in 2017. and when Miho left. they recruited Fami with an international open casting that they organised themselves.

Babymetal are from Japan as well, but the actual band is made up of male musicians, so no point in comparing them to Lovebites, really. It's also worth pointing out that Japanese bands tend to be excellent live, if not better than in the studio in many cases.
The best band to come along in decades who wear white dresses and high heels on stage to stand out from other metal bands and be seen easier as they are all petite!!! Haruna/drums at 4' 9' is a runaway nuke on that massive kit and yet never breaks a sweat!! Asami/vocals at 4' 10" is a little Napoleon stage general who thunders out over the layers behind her. She never sang metal as she is an ex-ballerina student and was a backup RnB/Jazz/Soul/Gospel singer before joining the group. The M and M show guitars are the best duo playing LIVE today PERIOD!! Midori/Blond at 5' is the Flash/Shred Queen and the extrovert who gave up Pharmacy school and piano at 20 to learn guitar!! Miyako/Dark is the giant at 5 2"and the musical savant of the group, the introvert Melodic Queen who is a classical trained pianist since age 3 (wait till you hear her on the keys) and took up the Dean guitar at 18 and taught herself to play! Their riff battles and their harmonizing while tapping, sweeping and picking at insane speeds while in perfect sync is already legendary. This band is so tight and in sync it is scary. They are driven in the relentless pursuit of flawless perfection (one note off in a 2 hour show gets them crazy upset). I... don't really get how Lovebites are supposed to be similar to BabyMetal.... I mean... the music is very different, the vocals are different, the whole band-setup is different since BabyMetal are an idol-group backed up by a metal band playing a very modern style while Lovebites are a full on metalband that play a very classic style.

Many times, they don't even have the real musicians at the concerts, but rather some guys with masks doing the mime. Anyone who says there are similarities in Lovebites (a real band) and Babymetal (a non-band) must know very little about music or be crazy.
@@Actkqk3 uh ... BM has always had an actual band playing real instruments at the live concerts. Always. The only time they didn't actually play the music was in the official videos, which is overwhelmingly common. The band used to rotate but for the past several years it's been pretty much the same guys except for the one who died. They're called the Kami Band. Three vocalists and four instrumentalists. A band. By your logic any band with a vocalist who doesn't also play is not a real band. I think there are a metric fuckton of bands out there who might disagree with you on that. I do agree with both that being a band is where the similarities end between LoveBites and BabyMetal.

NEMOPHILA is another excellent Japanese all girl metal/rock band worth checking out. REVIVE is their latest single.Bandmaid, Lovebites, Babymetal, Mary’s Blood etc are all amazing too.Japanese lady metal is king of the world right now and live is where they excel. Lyrics wise people who aren’t Japanese love listening to the Japanese language as it’s very fitting for the metal genre.
Asami's voice does take some listening to. She does have an incredible range and is a great jazz/R&B singer. Lovebites is all about the guitar solos as they are two of the best metal guitarists in the world. Every song features them. Try listening to Glory to the World. This is one of their latest music videos. They DO an anime song called Winds of Transylvania, written for the anime Vlad Love. A suggestion for a band that you would probably both like is Amaranthe from Sweden. Listen to their song Amarantine.
Their singer, Asami, comes from an R&B vocal background. Do more Lovebites and your opinion will become even more positive. By the way, their live performances are actually better than their music videos.

Since you're in Japan, you have to check out Band-maid. They're considered a hard-rock band, but they're like all over the place. A lot of pop sensibility, but taking influences from most styles. Like Asami this singer is more western in the approach. More grit and body. The band is like off the charts. It's not about showing of, but applying what the song needs to keep your attention. First choice? Maybe "Choose me"? Here you can pick either the official live or video, who both are on their YT page. ...but they have soooo much more.
bfore you go to baby metal, try out edge of the world, its a ballad and different side of lovebites, you should also look at bandmaid, another all female rock band. i will say that for me the guitar solos are one the reasons i listen to rock music as a member of the wolfpack you definitely need to hear more
Yeah and Andreas below, is right , Band Maid is a killer hard rock band from Tokyo, and for my money best hard rock band on the planet at the moment. Live they are best, try DOMINATION live 2020, and see their power performance style.
The lyrics were written by Asami the singer and the music was written by Miyako the guitarist stage left (black hair). If you are going to react to Babymetal, react to an early performance such as Headbanger, Legend of 1997 and a later performance such as Pa Pa Ya. FYI they sold-out the LA Form in 2019. As others have commented Japanese bands are better live in most cases, excellent audio engineering, and highly professional musicians with talented singers. They don't need electronic augmentation!
Holy War is not one of Miyako's songs. This song was written by Mao, who has written several songs for the band and has been the primary arranger for songs not written by Miyako (she arranges her own songs). Even though Asami writes the lyrics to almost all Lovebites songs, the lyrics for Holy War is credited to the entire band.
LIVE is were a band and singer either have or they don't there is no hiding unless you are lip syncing or using the studio magic. Japanese bands are great LIVE like all great bands are, real musicians out front and playing their skill to the limit, and if they lack anything it will show quickly. While studio is often excellent there is no substitute for LIVE where you truly hear the musicians and singers!!

While I TOTALLY agree with you about the sheer TALENT that Lovebites has (I've been a fan IMMEDIATELY since hearing the first song from a 'recommended for you' video that happened to show up first a couple months ago), I DO have to ask 1 question which is this: what in the Nine Hells and the Abyss is 'power metal'? I ask this because as a TRUE Metal-er since I first heard Heavy Metal in the mid-80's when I was in Junior High, there were ONLY 6 TRUE subcategories of the genre of Heavy Metal from the early 80's to the late 90's, those being the following: 1 - Heavy Metal (Flotsam and Jetsam for example); 2 - Punk Metal (Suicidal Tendancies for example); 3 - Speed Metal (Nuclear Assault for example); 4 - Thrash Metal (Bolt Thrower for example); 5 - Death Metal (Monstrosity for example); 6 - Black Metal (Dark Funeral for example). So again I'd simply like to ask as to what this 'power metal' is supposed to be. Now I honestly mean no disrespect to you whatsoever by asking this, I'm asking as someone who's been a Metal-er since the mid-80's when there was no such sub-category of Heavy Metal as 'power metal'. With that being said however, I have to say it's always nice to see comments from fellow fans of Heavy Metal. And to finish up I have to say that not only is the band Lovebites VASTLY superior to most of the so-called 'Metal' bands that have come around in the past couple decades, Lovebites not only sets the bar for what Heavy Metal should sound, but Lovebites ARE the bar for what Heavy Metal should sound like. They're so good at it they can't help its If you want heavy without the solos, and a song that'll flip you off your seats, you must check out Hanabie's "We Love Sweets". Band-Maid is a hard rock band with elements of punk, metal and groove. They do short solos so Megan may prefer that. Look for "Warning". Some songs don't even have solos like "Black Hole". Nemophila is another great band but they've got dual soloists like Lovebites, they're just a different style of metal. Try them any way. I'd go with Raitei for the more metal-style metal, and "Dissension" for the "death-core" style metal. And as the other commenters will add on other great bands, your journey into all-women Japanese metal is just beginning.
It's ironic that the one thing everyone says about Lovebites when they play live is that they are one of the few bands that sounds just as good or better live than in the studio. This is the first time I ever heard someone indicate the live version left something to be desired. Oh well, not everyone sees everything the same way. Nevertheless, when even those who don't have power metal as their cup of tea give it an 8 out of 10 that's really saying something.
I have similar thoughts on Love Bites as I've always had on Bruce Dickinson -era Iron Maiden (I still listen to the first 2 albums): huge respect for the technical capability on display.... but there is nothing in it which makes me want to listen to any of their songs again after first listen. But then, I've always been into groove, syncopation etc which make you want to *move*. This kind of relentless straight 4/4 chugging (albeit with impressive soloing over parts) just doesn't do anything for me. If you're going to do a Babymetal song btw, can you do "Karate" please? You'll not be able to show the video unfortunately (notoriously über-blocked on the Toob), but the main djent riff which opens up that track is *glorious* !! p.s. "You're married.... you're not blind!" is a fun way to show a healthy mind. You're a lucky lad Logan! :)
Have you tried Bandmaid? They are more rock driven. They are very talented musicians as well and have some great grooves. I would recommend Manners for a great groove song. But they have many songs that are all over the spectrum. They too, are better live.
I disagree. Their songs are less linear than you seem to give them credit for and they are filled with small intricacies that keep them interesting. But at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference I guess.
@@Actkqk3 I thought we settled this misunderstanding many years ago. Babymetal is definitely metal. Its just metal in an unusual format. Then, of course, Babymetal is not a band. It is three girls and a concept, using a backing metal band. I mean, you cannot call Kami band anything but metal.

Babymtal is not even in the same category. Punk? Nah. It's a metal band with some immensly taleneted musicians. Their 2 guitarists are among the best duos I've heard in 5 decades of listening to metal. Doesn't like guitar solos? Stick to BlackPink.
Fan of anime? Make sure you try Band--Maid. They have 4 anime openings to their credit and had a cameo appearance in the recent Netflix movie KATE with 2 songs featured in the movie. They are mostly Hard Rock. For a first timer try DOMINATION-LIVE which you'll see the quintessential Band-Maid, having Fun and playing the best Rock anywhere. Your wife (and you) will enjoy all aspects of BAND-MAID.
