I honestly think wigs are too expensive for the average person. I have went in debt to have wigs and it's hurt me financially. It's hard not to be jealous when you see all these beautiful wigs being reviewed by everyone and tell yourself I don't have the money for it. So unless you have no debt $200 to $300 a wig is very expensive. I know it costs alot to make them but I can't help but wonder if they're making a huge profit off of this.
It's so easy for women including me to be jealous when you see a content creator make a review or an Instagram of a beautiful wig and they look hot and sexy but to say I don't have the money. I think it's very hard to do that. Some can walk away from it but if I see something I want it's hard to say I'll just wait for later. I think in a way it helps but it can also hurt people financially if you have to go into debt to have the wigs you want.
I think the real travesty is that for many of us with hair loss see wigs as a medical necessity, while health insurance most times consider them cosmetic and either deny coverage or make coverage extremely difficult. There are lots of content creators making videos on expensive cars, or mansion tours that probably similarly frustrate someone who is unable to afford a car or who is experiencing homelessness. I don’t make these videos out of vanity.... It does cost me a lot of money to bring these videos to you, and my time in buying and then reselling these wigs to help show wigs on real women not the over styled photoshopped models. I do it to HELP and certainly not to hurt, so you don’t spend money on a wig that isn’t right for you based on a misleading ad campaign. I’m here for you if you ever need to vent, or talk, or express your frustration. Anytime, just send me a DM on Instagram @thewiggywoman.
Whosale price for European lace top and wefted cap is $600-800 meaning when someone professionally colors they would need to charge $1,000 to profit. Just getting quality hair and lace is a whole mission after the pandemic & shortages. I will keep researching the market and try to offer good and excellent quality at fair prices.
Outre (the wigs for African American women)makes 4x4 synthetic lace frontals for around $40. Don’t know why these monofilaments are soooooooo expensive. The only reason I don’t just buy the outre is because they are too big for my petite head and the synthetic fibers are too thick for me, I prefer a finer fiber. If outre can do a monofilament top wig at such an awesome price why can’t other wig companies??
I have looked into that brand and they have a lot of good features! I didn't see a full Mono from Outre at $40 though. The ones I saw had a deep part on one side. I think the biggest differentiator besides the full mono you mentioned yourself. The Fibers. It is much more cost effective to use a thicker fiber than these thin wispie fibers that you see in brands like the one I showed here. Especially making them strong enough to withstand daily wear while being thin and realistic.
Outre has been absolutely amazing the past year. There is no reason FOR ME to pay $300 for fake (synthetic) hair. I don’t need a full mono cap but some people do. Even though I’m experiencing hair loss I still have hair so the combs on Outre wigs don’t bother me and the uncomfortableness of wigs is expected. On a side by side comparison of hair I can’t tell a difference. Synthetic is synthetic for the most part. I think it’s fine for ladies to spend whatever they want to on hair to make themselves feel beautiful! I’ve just found that affordable synthetics nowadays have come SUCH a long way and I don’t need to spend over $50 to get a realistic hairline, density, and fiber!
Good morning sweet sunshine! 🌞 What an interesting video/topic. You covered some really great points. Thank you for putting this together. Found very helpful and informative! Have a wonderful day! ❤
You should compare it with good quality fashion wigs, not that cheap cosplay-like that you got. You can get a nice human hair, extended lace (not only temple to temple with a ear tab that doesnt even cover your bio hair), for the same price as most synthétique for hair loss. Some hair loss wigs have very nice features for people that have no hair at all. For those who have hair, it doesn't make much différence. Fashion wigs came a long way. You really need to check it. However the market for hair loss is way smaller, therefore, also the prices are higher.
Working on it!! I just did a video on a more affordable medical grade wig (I’ll link it below) and am going to do my tips for making it look realistic and comparison to this same wig in the coming weeks!!! Great idea! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YLNRtw3kVlk.html
@@TheWiggyWoman thank you, much appreciated 🖤 ! I see many women doing all the efforts just in order to get one wig! Not everyone has the possibility to buy several wigs in order for each one to last longer. And we all see these reviews with almost always the same expensive brands. Thank you for your support !
I noticed you are only comparing the expensive units to a non-lace front. If you had a lace front to compare it to you would notice more similarities than differences. I usually wear affordable wigs from brands like Outre, Bobbi Boss and Mane Concept. I found that most of them are multicultural despite them being marketed primarily to women of color. I have tried a few more expensive wigs and they were not any more comfortable than the affordable units, and I wear them all day long. I also noticed that the fibers of the medical grade units look more fake than the ones I typically wear. You can still get a lot of wear out of the affordable lace front wigs plus the price range allows you to purchase multiple styles to give you more variety with styles. I also disagree about the hairline. There are a lot of affordable units that have a preplucked natural looking hairline. The expensive units I’ve tried do not look any more natural along the hairline than the affordable ones. This is not related to non lace fronts, but the lace fronts are really natural and very easy to get styled. All you need to do is put some loose powder along the parting space. Plus, all the affordable wigs I’ve worn (I’ve been wearing wigs daily for 2 years) are not hot on my head. They all have good ventilation which are the same as the expensive units. One last thing, all affordable wigs come with adjustable straps so you can make it more secure and comfortable.
I would have liked to see a comparison with Paula Young wigs with the pricey one. I am very frustrated with the name brands prices I honestly think they are being greedy, classic example is how much they charge for the popular wigs, just because they are popular. The frequent sales back up my theory because most women are NEVER pay full price.
I did recently place an order with The Wig Company - which is a mid-tier price range (similar to Paula Young) and will do a similar comparison! I think some sites are willing to take less profit and have frequent sales - and others aren't. But - at the end of the day I have no idea what the true cost is of manufacturing, real estate for storing inventory, marketing, distributing, and covering returns on wigs to know if there is an inappropriate markup or greed happening. It could just be that these things are more expensive to make than we realize?
Could have used a much better wig for the comparison there are very nice synthetic affordable wigs out there I know because I wear them and nobody can tell they are wigs the most I pay is 60 for them
I come from a business background, and I think a lot of people assume that - but, I know just from my own experience that there are so many invisible costs to making quality products and paying employees fairly that I genuinely don't think that greed is a factor. But, I don't personally know. I just approach life from a positive perspective :)
@@TheWiggyWoman i suppose it would be depending on the position one is in to judge if my comment is positive or negative. from the buying angle (not the selling) one can easily feel that the prices are ridiculous, depending especially on their financial situation. i did not think of a person having to pay staff. iv seen solo wig sellers raising the prices drastically while lowering the quality of the cap and people are still willing to pay. Regardless, even those with staff could very well be included? i have been buying hair (wigs, toppers) since 2015 directly from usa companies and china. i know what the prices are and what they once were. From the chinese factory the hair can be listed as european or russian or eurasian or brazilian, ect., ect. and yet they all start out black or dark brown. Do all europeans have dark colored hair? This hair has to then be bleached so the end result will not be as healthy as we would like. No russians have blonde hair? I have seen high priced brand name human hair products and compared with human hair products at a cheaper price directly from chinese factories yet they appear to have the same kind of hair. I have found a couple of very good vendors and can get a wig with beautiful hair around 16" long for under $400 and an 18" blonde topper for around the same price. I'm definitely feeling very negative about the $1000 to $2000 price tags. if i had a business, i could buy these items from the factory at a wholesale price and in bulk which means i would spend even less than the price i just quoted. granted those with a business should make a profit as they spend time and money to beautify the color 613 wigs. The dark wigs though do not require anything but repacking with their logo if the factory did not already do it. i think the sellers should be more fair with coming up with their profit. i have learned to add roots and add toner myself and am happy enough with the results basically because i am saving hundreds of dollars. As far as buying hair goes, im positive about doing it myself and buying directly.
