Hi Ben, actually these are bits replacement for wiha 26 in 1 screwdriver, the "technician" is only the title for that type of bit set. You can check it on: www.wihatools.com/ultra-driver-26inone-technicians www.amazon.com/dp/B01J92O2NA/ref=dp_prsubs_2
I watched this video many many months ago after buying a Leatherman Surge. I purchased a set like this for my Surge, I removed the retainer ring from my bit extender and installed a small neodymium magnet in the bottom, big improvement. I also purchased a sheath for my Surge and bit kit by RAE gear. I’m looking to see if you know if someone makes a 3D bit holder for these Whia bits that is like the Leatherman bit holder? I like the RAE gear Leatherman bit sheath but don’t want to carry the Leatherman bits just the Whia bits.
Been doing maintenance for 50 years. I have carried a Leatherman tool on my hip since 1983/1984. I have those flat bits and they're carried in the sheath WITH my Leatherman and bit adapter. They have worked well for me. Both racks of bits fit in the sheath as well. What he didn't address is carrying the Wiha bits. Your multitool should never be used as a primary tool for anything...only as a backup. If you need to torque down an a screw...do it with a screwdriver. A multitool is all about convenience and having everything right there where and when you need it. The last thing I need is another pouch to carry with bits.
This! I always have an assortment of "real" bits in my car, but when I'm there in the moment I at least have the comfort of having 42 completely usable ends in my pockets slimly tucked in with my leatherman with the two slides + the one on the tool. I could probably use the same space to carry 6-10 "real bits" which would give me 12-20 ends but that's a whole lot less than 42. Everyone can consider which is better, the durability benefit or the practical benefit.
For my current job, since we only deal with Phillips, standard, 3mm, and 4mm hex bolts, I’m pocket-carrying the Arc, with a Wiha 3mm/4mm hex bit in my ratchet driver extension. I keep the sheath with the full Leatherman bit kit and remaining Wiha Industrial double-sided bits where my multitool would go, in my backpack, so I can travel light with everything I need on my person. It’s a fantastic setup.
Received mine today after a looooong wait. Thanks for your videos, you quickly became one of my main source of information when it comes to tools. Greetings from France.
Dude, you're a day late for me. I spent hours last night online trying to find a solution for exactly what you described. Thank you. This will be perfect setup for my Surge and additional Bit Driver Extender. Again, big thanks.
Recently bought this bit set based on this video. Love it. It did take a while to get. I forget exactly how long....maybe a month. Worth the wait. Fits perfect. Easy to insert and extract. Meets my most common needs.
I’m a little late to the party here, but consider a wera bit check! Good bits, and comes with the rapidaptor bit holder that’s long enough not to get stuck in the Leatherman bit extender.
Thank you. I wish they did too. I know quite a few people would prefer to have a regular extension that would fit their bit holder. That way they could use bits they already own. I don’t see them doing it anytime soon though.
just ordered one. I have never had my leatherman ones fail but I know better to over torque them. they are designed to lay flatter of course for easier carry. I need some security bits.
Looks like a fantastic solution for the weak flat drivers. I got mad using the ph#2 taking off door hinges to balance the door and the bit head slip every time. Change the bit for other Ph#2 and same problem, I couldn't tighten the screw. I had to go back to my truck and get the Wiha 76889 and take those 3D bits to complete the task. Is not bad the leatherman bits but I'm always afraid of broke those bits. Thanks, Sir to share this info. I will buy them and try if fit in the SwissTool bit the one with the wrench. 9-10 slots are more than enough to consider double ends.
But is there a container to store them though? I know wiha other products that green and red bit selectors that comes with containers to store them. Why not just get those instead? Only difference is they are not double sided.
Excellent find! I always liked the idea of the leatherman bit kit, but never particularly liked the execution; the torx bits have all twisted on me, and the Phillips bits also leave more to be desired. I have other wiha products and I agree that they make quality bits. Thanks for sharing!
There are different bit sets for the Wiha's Ultra Driver. I would definitely like to pick up one of the bit sets to go along with my Wave Plus. Quick question, how are you carrying the bits? I'd hate to just carry them loose or in a pouch.
I bought the "Wiha SB 7947-005 FlipSelector Standard" set. Comes with standard bits and a belt clip. I just replaced the standard with the double bits. Works just fine.
They are compatible with the Ozark Trail Multiforce extension, but not the regular driver exchanger. The reason is that the main exchanger uses a ball detent catch and the extension uses a magnet. They will fit, but they will slip right out because there is no magnet to keep them in place.
As @Maxlvledc points out if you place a magnet in the main driver and the extention it works with all the bits you want to use. It works with regular 1/4inch, Leatherman flat, and ball detent bits. I have a set of these on the way now but I am guessing they will work fine as well. You don't even need to glue them in. Here are the magnets to get: amzn.to/2ZbVnHD Hope this helps.
I just got my bits in and can now confirm with a magnet I shared installed in the main driver and in the extension these bits work. So i t would now seem that the Multiforce is the most versatile bit driver out there right now. It works will all the different kinds of bit I have. I will make a video demonstrating this.
A friend of mine ordered me a set of Snap-On hardened bits... I’ve tried everything from Wheeler to Lyman... there’s no comparison... the Snap-On bits are apparently Impact rated and I have yet to twist one or strip one out. Costly yes.. but amazing.
Btw, not including state tax, Wiha has this kit currently for an additional $1.69. Which includes shipping cost, at least to my address. If you can't wait for Amazon, this might be an alternative buying solution.
I notice that a lot of Indonesia are jumping on the multi-tool band wagon as of late, and producing some good quality products to be used with Leatherman etc. Security torcs are of interest to me, as you can use them on the LM's themselves. PS. How goes the Super-Surge rebuild?
No, I’m sorry they don’t. I just pulled out the Center Drive Plus to check. The holder does not allow the bit to seat low enough. You would be better off going with the standardized bit.
To restate another comment I read here. Look at the other variations of the “reload kit” the one listed here in the video is great but I don’t have a use for half the bits. Another SKU of the same kind of reload kit had a better variety for my use.
@@txtoolcrib I bought the "Wiha SB 7947-005 FlipSelector Standard" set. Comes with standard bits and a belt clip. I just replaced the standard with the double bits. Works just fine.
@@txtoolcrib Love this video! Wanted to follow up on Bully Jay’s question, were you able to figure out a good sheath to carry these with a standard sized Leatherman like the Signal?
@@txtoolcrib I finally was able to remove it using vice grips to grab the bit and wresting with it. The bits seem to be very tight (in both the Wave bit extender and the Juice CS2 small bit extender). Lots of effort to get a bit in and significant problem removing. :-(
@@txtoolcrib Thank you for always responding to your questions on your channel. Us young workers in the field need some guidance on these multi tools and you are the first one I rely on to shoot it too us straight.
Doohan Tallywhack, I appreciate that very much. That was really my intention when I started this channel. I wanted to impart knowledge, not just in multi tools, to the younger generation. If there is any particular question you may have in general construction or metalworking, don’t hesitate to ask. I might not get back right away, but I do get back with everyone.
They are still hustling the bit exchanger, but seem to have lost the ability to provide the bit set over at leatherface... they are on some BS! I understand discontinuing items from time to time, but they are a bunch of crybabies!
@Jacob Dawson what has changed on letherman besides they stopped using oil and came with easy to brake parts? I have a charge tti and a swisstool plus. Swiss is everything u need. U even can use standard bits by default. Nn buy extra shit to have some proper drivers. But there is a tool for everyone. I prefer victorinox over latherman all day long! And btw... did latherman changed their shitty bottle opener? 😂
@@mbhaus6349 I have a Swiss tool and you can't use standard bits in it. I also don't like how soft the steel is for the blades (knives and chisel). It's beautifully made, but it's not perfect.
@@mbhaus6349 That bit adapter is included with the Charge, so it's really a comparison of what accessories you're paying for. The tool itself cannot use bits.
