In this video I'll tell you my findings about the WiiM Amp and also I recorded for you multiple samples on how the Amp really sound using Eversolo DMP A6 ME with Everoslo F2 Cambridge Audio EVO 150 as a reference units so that you can hear how good or bad the WiiM amp really is.

I was impressed by the clarity of the Eversolo. In comparison, the Cambridge sounded veiled, with the WiiM in the middle between the two.

My strategy is very clear, I will spend most of the money on the speakers, then I think, but not too much, about the other components that I see do not matter much for the performance that has been reached. But I see that the biggest bug is the speakers where the sound differs a lot from one speaker to another, in fact the distortions in the audio chain are, amplifiers sound 1%, dac-s the same, cables and other plugs depends on how it looks, but with loudspeakers the distortions are 5-10 times higher...Thank you for the test!

Another fine sound comparison -- many thanks. Like you, I thought the Eversolo best for my ears -- richer and more dynamic. But to be fair, the Wiim did a good job, not too far off -- perhaps slightly more strident, but for $400 one can't complain. Your strategy sounds good to me and accords with my own -- at least it does now, after having made a few mistakes in the past!🙂If I were starting over again, I'd definitely focus on the speakers first and get the best I could afford, or in my case build myself -- I currently use open baffles that would have cost me at retail at least three times the price. Even my secondary nearfield system blows away anything remotely price comparable (taking into account inflation) from 20-30 years ago based on my listening around that time at hi-fi shows. It's a great time to get into hi-fi.

400$? In Russia 300$) I compared Wiim Amp and Luxman L-505uxII. The difference between them was very small. Wiim Amp is very good amplifier.

Great music selection for such a shootout! The Wiim while still decent is a bit leaner sounding. The eversolo has little more better transient response and a little better separation between instruments. The Cambridge sounds warmer , has more meat on the bone and more refined up top. I totally agree with your evaluation. Great video!

Closer than you would imagine given that price difference, but Cambridge Audio is the one I would choose if just sound was the only factor. However if starting out, given that digital audio is improving, I would happily put more money into speakers, accept cheaper electronics and upgrade the front end in the future. Sounds like a good plan, especially if you design end game speakers😊. Missed you not being at Bristol this year.

Thank you for the comment and opinion. Indeed there is a merit in going that way and yes I do speakers so one might say there is business for me in that. Yes I'm not expecting people to buy Wiim and Qualio, since even though it sounds great the speakers can sound much better with different gear, but I know many people don't really care for that anyway and for those being able to spend 300-400$ and spend 2-4 K$ on speakers is at the moment totally legit option. Yes Bristol was a no go this year. I am too busy with YT ;) Hopefully next year I'll be able to go, but since brexit all the paperwork with bringing the speakers in was such a nightmare that ... well I love the show and hate the brexit ;)

I totally agree with you. Some fine tuning and it gets a lot better, even though I think that the highs are a bit saturated, cramped or whatever. Not clear enough

GM ☕️❄️ from Toronto . I run a headphone set up ..not speakers . Wiim has been running circles around the competition ( given the price) and a very good app ( that’s updated frequently) . Me, Wiim Pro optically feeding my new Denafrips Ares 12-1 …and onto my headphone amp ( Bryston BHA-1) 🥳 This new Wiim intergrated amp is a definite improvement over what’s available at the price . Could you tell us more about how the Wiim is connected to the rest of the system? Does the signal from it go centrally to the speakers and drive them without any amplification? I wonder if it can properly drive Bowers Wilkins CM9 S2 speakers.

This time, I am able to spot some differences. Richer options have wider sound stages and more powerful sound, especially the Eversolo comb as, compared to the Wiim. It is indeed very impressive for the cost. As a collateral note, could you do a video on the Eversolo amp F2 in conjunction with A6 or A8 as preamp. Thanks.

I agree, the Cambridge Evo 150 is more open and laid back. It has good detail but not as punchy as Eversolo. But I feel both the eversolo and Wiim doesn’t have a wide sound stage as the Cambridge. Of course the pricing is different, just laying speculations.

Excelent side by side. Any of this products have a realy good sound Thanks to show that. The best youtub tester that im aware. Place: 1- Eversolo 1+ 1- Cambridge 2 - WiiM AmP WiiM excelent for 400€ and a 4500€ speaker. WiiM very close to the first place. I agree with you for a beginer!

I am an audiophile with 2 systems one new which consists of KEF E3 Metas, Hegel H190, KEF KC62 sub, WiiM pro streamer and Gustard R26 DAC I also have a vintage system which consists of Acoustic Research AR5 speakers and pioneer SX-950 with WiiM pro streamer and a EverSolo Z8 DAC. Having these systems I still ordered a WiiM amp just out of curiosity to try in my 2 systems to see how it sounds. I have a feeling it is a pretty good all in one for the money

Thank you very much for the comparison, I have been asking you to review the Eversolo amp, and you have delivered. For my ears the Eversolo pairing sounded the best, as per your conclusion the Cambridge sound too laid back and the Wiim did not do anything. I know which way I am heading, 2 Eversolo amps in bridged mode with LHY PSU. This is second set up for me, my main system Eversolo A6 master, Denafrips Terminator 2, Audio Research Ref6, Rogue Audio Mono 180 (KT120 tubes) and pure audio project quintet 15 (speakers) and SVS sb 2000 pro one for left and one for right channel. I also have Ayon CD 5s and lot more, now it time to compare. One thing I want to be clear it not the value of HiFi component but does it move you and add further enjoyment for your music listening. Yes I agree the most fun I had with the eversolo combo here but when price is added to the let's say 4-5k$ entire system equation, well .... ;) I already checked the F2 against the Fosi ZA3 and let me tell you depending on what you like, if you liked the ever solo more than the Cambridge you might like the upgraded Fosi za3 more as well ;)

Cześć! Bardzo dziękuję za recenzję! Pozwolę sobie napisać komentarz w ojczystym języku :) Słuchałem tego nagrania dosyć głośno przy wideo ustawionym na 4K i słuchawkach Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro i przyznam, że nie słyszę kompletnie żadnej różnicy. Może słuch nie ten, albo sprzęt nie ten (albo tory i podwozie też były złe) ;) Muzyki słucham amatorsko. Myślałem żeby kupić Yamaha RX-V4A, ale chyba amplituner do kina domowego ma zdaje się inną charakterystykę odgrywania dźwięku niż taki muzyczny wzmacniacz, a mi zależy jedynie na stereo i nic więcej. Zastanawiam się nad zakupem trochę tańszego Wiim Amp, jako że jest tani i ma sporo możliwości (zależy mi na AirPlay do puszczania muzyki z telefonu z własnego serwera muzyki i HDMI do sporadycznego obejrzenia czegoś). Czy jest on w stanie zasilić głośniki do pokoju dziennego o wymiarach 7x8 m żeby zestaw stereo grał dobrze, zarówno gdy gra cicho jak i głośno? Np. takie Indiana Line Tesi 6? To chyba najdroższe głośniki na jakie mógłbym sobie pozwolić. Obecnie słucham w tym pomieszczeniu muzyki na głośnikach do komputera Microlab Solo 7c, które są głośne jak dla mnie, które to kupiłem z 8 lat temu, ale one są mniej szczegółowe moim zdaniem niż słuchawki, na których słuchałem tej recenzji. Będę wdzięczny za pomoc, pozdrawiam!

Wiim jest spoko ale na dzień dzisiejszy jak Ci to nie przeszkadza że to będą 2 urządzenia, kup sobie Fosi V3 z zasilaczem 48v 5a oraz sam streamer Wiim z dacem np wiim pro plus. Wyjdzie cie podobnie a Fosi jest dużo mocniejszym i fajniejszym wzmacniaczem jako całokształt. Co do kolumn to nie słuchałem więc nie mam zdania ale ten wzmacniać na pewno je pociągnie ;)

I hate class D amplifiers but I must be honest and say that this WIIM amp is very good, very good indeed, but, for the first song/sample, the Cambridge EVO 150 was a bit clearer and the start and stop of notes are better and this makes music more musical. I mean it has a better handling of rhythms than the WIIM.

hey great video, the moment of truth has come, we are now where we are with the discussion of mobilephone cameras versus digital cameras. I don't think the ordinary consumer buys an expensive 5 Grand hi-fi system over these- I know several people who go in the direction of ease and convenience and simplicity. and like mobile phone cameras, the all in one audio systems are getting better and better all the time. and more people buy them. for a system that costs 5 grand doesn't play 10 or 15 times better. And at last they not only Sound good the WAF factor is good to thanks for a good test.

Winner: Eversolo DMP A6 ME+LHY PSU+Eversolo Amp F2. I think that with FOSI ZA3 mono (sparkos) is better and cheaper! WiiM amp: pfff. Bad idea with good/very good loudspeakers as yours Cambridge Audio EVO 150, about 2,400 € is too much expensive for the sound it offers

That all depends on preferences, there are 2 sound characters one - more life like dynamic in your face punchy and the second group of us like the analogies and not fatiguing sound. I like fatiguing in your face grand slam analoginess so to me the CA is too Mellow and the ever solo had hick and soundstage but more body would be great. It's not easy to be an audiophile ;)

I prefer the Cambridge over Eversolo, but the Wiim fot the price is really good. I also compared this Cambridge Evo 150 vs Primare i25 vs Lyngdorf TDAI-1120. Primare had the most sophisticated sound with the best dynamics, but Cambridge was nice sounding as well.

It's quite old-fashioned thinking to buy separate amplifiers alongside streamers. When today and for a long time already you can get high-quality sound reproduction from active loudspeakers even completely digital up to the ad/da converter of the speaker.

Until those active loudspeakers die on you, and you're left with an expensive useless brick as the speaker manufacturer no longer produces that speaker plate amp.

My friend just changed a few months ago the genelec1037a that served for more than twenty years to bigger dsp/digi genelecs in the living room. I also have both a new and an old Genelec series in the living room for listening to music and watching movies, but the older collections still work great as a stereo, but are now in multi-channel side and rear and ceiling speakers, even excellent for long-term use. genelec active loudspeakers are long-range loudspeakers at the very edge of technological development, and you can get new parts for them if something breaks after many decades.

One can buy even the cheapest cables ,but leaving some budget on that as well is not bad if you find a great cable matching your system. I'd do all to avoid the aluminium copper clad crap ;)

WiiM had quite a difficult task to shine in this comparison and it didn't. CA was definitely the best system, sometimes I had the impression that there was something wrong with the sound of the Eversolo, I'm not sure if the recording levels had anything to do with it, but it wasn't as consistent as CA, it probably had the widest soundstage, but somehow flat and not cohersive.

Wow that Music it is just amazing. Love your taste and room… very stylish I just bought dali Opticon 2 mkII speakers with Dali lektor active sub and wiim amp. Sound is Ok, but i am afraid that they need more expensive(better?) amp to make them sound even better. Not sure if the difference will be noticeable if I will buy 1000 eur amp.

Congrats on your system. I tested the Wiim vs Fosi and if you wish for a silly upgrade, go for the Fosi V3 integrated with 48V 5A poser supply. its going to cost you 130$ and overall performance of the Fosi is better and treat the Wimm as streamer. Going for random 1000$ amp well it will not garantee anything since the Wimm Amp is not amazing but is really good ;)
