The first lyric had me in tears and every word after did not dissapoint. I’ve been listening/watching Wilbur since YCGMA and it’s amazing to see how much he has grown as an artist. My mental health has gone to shit recently and this album is exactly what I needed. I’m so proud of Wilbur and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to say it enough. I hope he’s been able to cope with all the pressure that’s been put on him recently. Even though it’s none of my business. I’ve come back after I’ve delved into the lyrics and music on Spotify, and I don’t think I’ve ever connected with an album as much as I have this one. I am not going to try and unravel what the message you were trying to get across Mr. Gold because I don’t want to misinterpret your feelings or pry into whatever is going on as you have asked of us in ‘The Median’; but there are definitely emotions that I feel through the music that haven’t ever been able to be put into words. This may be corny, but I’m sure many feel the same. ‘Mine / Yours’ specifically resonated with me. To me, the words reflected on a want for romantic love but the inability to have it due to the pressure of commitment suffocating the ability to fully express the emotion. No matter how hard you try to commit to the romantic part, flirting, saying ‘I love you,’ I can never seem to feel that ‘love’ feeling, just a deep dread that it’s all wrong. But then, when you push that love away, that longing for an intimate romantic relationship always comes back. And then you are just left confused. Again. This is just how I take the song and relate it to myself, and I’m in no way saying this was the intended message or believing this was the intended message; but I just wanted to share as the album has been on my mind.
