Actually, I don't think Your New Boyfriend is about his previous girlfriend. Basically, the songs he wrote about her are from his album Your City Gave Me Asthma, which was made much earlier. Your New Boyfriend is part of the trilogy of him playing this 'character' including I'm In Love With An E-Girl, The Internet Ruined Me, and of course Your New Boyfriend.
