I don't remember seeing such a genuine smile of pure joy in a long time, as the one I see on Jeff Tweety's face here. He smiles like a beautiful child, and sings with astounding reverence for the music.
I know im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the account password. I love any assistance you can give me!
@Oliver Kevin Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
My daughter introduced me to this band within the last year not sure how I missed the boat I …was listening to Pearl Jam Nirvana.Skills are Incredibly talented.God bless Jeff Tweedy and his family
Damn. I discovered this song just before a roadtrip to California from Montreal. I was listening to this song on my way there at sunset in the midwest. Hummmmmmmm.... :)
Great tune I've never gotten to see live, and it reinforces that there was a bond between the two singers, not just some common, triangulated respected for Woody Guthrie. Good to see, thanks wilcoclubvideos.
to the guy who says that Billy messed up the words, so did Jeff on the first verse. Ironically I saw Son Volt on the wide swing tremolo tour in Portland Oregon, they opened up for Billy Bragg ironically.
OMG! I was just looking at a concert from Mettalica! it's crazy what the differences are! Like the fans at Mettalica are like screaming! Jumping! And are big metal heads. But these people! They can't compare to them!
I always loved Billy Bragg back in the 80s...so it really bummed me out when I heard that Billy said "You make your album and I'll make mine, fucker!" to Jay Bennett.
This is interesting, considering that there were some "differences of opinion" between Billy Bragg and Wilco about the project. This I read in Greg Kot's book about Wilco and in Jeff Tweedy's autobiography. Per Wikipedia, 'Tempers flared between Bragg and Wilco after the album was completed. Bennett believed that Bragg was overproducing his songs, a sharp contrast to Wilco's sparser contributions. Bennett called Bragg about the possibility of remixing Bragg's songs, to which Bragg responded "you make your record, and I'll make mine, fcker." ' Still, it looks like they're having great fun doing this. Ps. Pay attention to Glenn's drumming.
@@mikeflanagan658 I knew that. But Jeff Tweedy and John Stirratt are the only two members of Wilco left who were part of the Mermaid Avenue/Woody Guthrie project. It was cute that Billy gave John a big hug.
Nah, I don’t care for the Farm Aid version and Bennett just bothers me. I know he was a great musician, but Jeff was right to give him the boot. I prefer the later lineups, and I don’t care if I’m the only one who does. I still like the older songs of course; I like most of the songs off every one of their albums. Jeff Tweedy is just a great singer, songwriter, and musician. He could do an acoustic solo set and it’d be amazing.
This was filmed on November 11, 2009 in Weissenhäuser Strand, Germany. How come during the piano solo at 2:55 they show a close up of every member of the band except Pat, the man playing the piano?
I really don’t wanna be that guy… but I’m gonna… no mosh pits, no phones, no over crowded mental sweaty crowds, just a few hundred people, a real mix of people just listening to one of the most chill songs being performed in one of the most relaxed performances, the whole thing just seems so laid back!!
tweedy is a genius song crafter but would be tough to work with in a band he def wants to be the one controlling and in charge, look what it did for Jay Bennett
I've never liked BB much the whole Mermaid Avenue thing made me respect him more. I like the songs he did on those albums, unfortunately I still don't like his own stuff.
+DAM FLA Billy was not only a part of both albums, he wrote the majority of the music on his own for both albums. So, I guess there's that bit you missed.
I freaking love Wilco and The Mermaid Ave records are two of my all time favorites, but they kind of sound like shit here. Billy clearly wasn't involved in the practice sessions.
