Indeed. Still miss him. The leads he does in this tune are sick and his signature country lead style. He had tiny hands like a young child but he sure played like a master. RIP.
The guitarist of note is the late great Jay Bennett. Bob is on dobro …meh…. But WITHOUT A DOUBT this is best lineup of Wilco and shows like this tour and the next years put this band on the map….pure American rock and roll!
Oh I disagree. YHF was the height for me, and they were still putting out great music up until the Star Wars album, maybe sometime around 2016 or so. The Whole Love had some shining moments, like One Sunday Morning and the title track, but that's where I started to feel like they may be losing the magic. I mean, it wasn't country, and Wilco hadn't been country for some time, but they weren't bad. Now, the last few albums? This new one, Cruel Country? Rough.
I believe with Jeff’s issues with his marriage not long after this tour ended and his drug issues getting worse, the music naturally became more melancholy, thus the Summerteeth/YHF/A Ghost Is Born trio. Sky Blue Sky had dark moments too but didn’t go nearly as deep as those three went. Since then, with age and soberness, I think Jeff just seems contempt with making laid back tunes without anything to prove or to say
@@SpikeShooter92 That’s a damn good explanation and knowing Jeff as I do probably SPOT on. Just very well said and thoughtful and insightful reply. Thank you very much!
