Join me in the Chugach Mountains of Alaska for a winter adventure chasing Willow Ptarmigan in the snow. These birds are incredible with their snowshoe feet, and plumage that turns white in the winter. A truly remarkable design!
If you're in Alaska or planning a trip here and are interested in joining me for a winter Ptarmigan adventure, send me a message and let me be your guide!

Being a amature photographer and hunter from east coast Labrador, Canada. I like the spring time pinkish/ white plummage, also the slow start ' berk,berk, berk, berk then rapid sucession of this distinct bird call and the willow Ptarmagin in flight.

I am slightly jealous of your scenery there in Alaska. Great job Jamin.

Alaska looks so awesome. I miss shooting wildlife I need to get some gear again. I dig the video and makes me miss filming RU-vid videos on my other channel as well.

Great video. Do you know which type of ptarmagin I would have seen on the side of the road in Denali National Park? Would they have been willow or one of the others? I'mnot sure what the elevation was, and if the driver specified, I missed it. Thanks as always. :) Cheers from Maine. Paula

The most commonly seen in Denali National Park along the road would be Willow Ptarmigan. Usually Rock Ptarmigan and White-tailed Ptarmigan like much higher elevations.

Excellent. so i have a stupid question... do You happen to know when they 'change colors' do the white feathers fall out and brown grow in? or do the white feathers, due to some chemical changes, actually turn brown?
@JaminTaylor

They change colors as the seasons change. I would assume light plays a part in the transition times, how the birds tell the season changes. They actually molt out of the white and into their summer plumage starting with the head and working down to the tail.
