WILD Arthurian Legends SPECULATION - Sorcery Contested Realm 

This is the first game that I actively have bought boxes for except for a single lorcana box. Part of the fun with sorcery was how long the box experience takes. I hope they keep it at 36 packs. But I will not be mad if it is 24 at a cheaper price point.

I think the new avatars (if we get any) won't be specific character, but more like Alchimist (power with potions), Tactician (power with unit placing/movement), could be a master of bows (power for range units), a herbalist (power to heal a unit each turn?), an architect style avatar (power with the monuments) or this kind of avatars : D

Wow what a great video ! Thinking about the avatars is very exciting and also all the cool lore they can build into the game that surprisingly was never brought into MTG - crazy how they missed this one!

I hope they launch Arthurian Legends at Gen Con on August 1st, 2024!

Team Covenant is pre-selling boxes at 135, which is cheaper than the 150 of Beta but too much for a 24 pack box... hopefully that isn't the ending price point if they do go with a 24 pack box.

I hope for different basic sites like Lake = water Castle = Earth …air and fire are difficult…

Hope this set introduces multi-elemental cards. Spells with 2 or more different element thresholds to cast. Would like to see an increase in elemental threshold cost across the board imo. 3-4 element decks are far too common in the meta.

Hoping we get no avatars. We have 15 already over 2 set releases. Most of the avatars in those sets are in dire need of getting a good card pool from the newer sets to buff them. If you are gonna be having less cards in the Arthurian Legends set that is less over all new cards for each element and avatars like flamecaller, AoA, AoW, Wave Shaper, Sparkmage and Elementalist, are in dire need of better cards that synergize with the strategies they want to do to help them see more play. So heres hoping that Legends simply keeps the same avatars from previous sets and instead focuses on getting us better cards to buff the strats and game plans of those that sorely lack it.

Good talk Jefe. 24 pack back is fine. 36, to me, make sense for a smaller TCG. It gives you draft and prizes. I know you mention people wanting store credit and other prizing, but for a new TCG I tend to find people want that. If Erik and the team wanted to be Goated, they'd do a box with 24 AL and 12 Beta to hand out as prizes. Double dip, but also give shops a way to do "Chaos Draft" built in. I've been betting August, but July would work. I do wonder if they want to have to rub up against Altered. We may even see a later release in like September or November. My one firm belief: We get three months of warning before the release. Avatars: Merlin Morgana Gawain The Lady of the Lake I would be very surprised if we see no knight avatar. Big whiff.

I could see 5 avatars, 4 tied to elements and 1 for artifacts (like the Lady of the Lake)

I think the big question for release date is whether they release at Gencon, or just before so that people have cards for the convention and can celebrate the set there. I think it is a lock though, disregarding some unforeseen disaster, that they release no later than Gencon. Also what about the Grail? Too obvious to be a curio? Too major of an item to be a regular card in the set? Too lackey following on (the heals of Magic) to make it a one-of-one card within the set?

Not to fuel the doom dire but......I will say, you make some very valid points. I have been wondering how they will handle the 2nd set since it will be smaller, I think 24 pack boxes are the way to go but I can't lie and i doubt players will like them at $140 a box, and even at $100 that seems okay, but then with tax and shipping and handling it would be closer to $120 which is not that far off from $140, so even with this idea of it only being $100 MSRP it still will cost more and in my personal opinion that doesn't seem like "value". But I will agree, I think these boxes will be 24 packs to go along with a smaller set.

I like the idea of 24 pack box.. but if Team Covenants pre-order subscription has boxes at $139 i doubt they are going to take 12 packs out and only drop the price $11/box. It would need to be down around $100. Maybe they take some of the common/uncommon cards out and have smaller booster sizes?? 12 cards?

If limited is the focus I think we get more than 4 avatars. Probably 4 ordinary avatars that are easy to pull. The character avatars would probably be rarer making it hard to count on them for limited.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Morgana la fey was a healer who apprenticed with merlin. There was a bit of bad blood between her and merlin for a time, but they cleared it up. The gorgon turned people to stone... maybe you saw Morgana and thought Gorgana? 😅 earth mage still works for a healer, though. Earth, water, and air can all be associated with healing. Even fire has the phoenix's flames if rebirth. I could go on and on about the various Arthurian heroes, but where did you see Morgan turning people to stone?

Nothing wrong with the 24 pack approach, but I just don't see them switching the way they release product.

all good specs. I would love it if somehow the entire set does not get spoiled three weeks before release and decks aren't already decided before you even get your hands on the cards... I realize that is a big ask and probably impossible in the age of this internet thing....but I miss the days of not knowing, opening packs with other people and being like "holy fuck.....what card is that?...what does that one do?" that whole thing.

Chances of a July release date for AL is between Buckley's and none. Everything they have done has been late. 4th Quarter at best.

Hmm...this time Ill probably disagree with everything you said on the video haha. First I think the set will be in the low 300s...200 to 250 seems too low for a main yearly set. I think there absolutely no way they will do 24 pack boxes. They are clearly following the old magic releases and I believe there would be huge community backlash if they did that. Regarding date, no way they will announce only when product is ready to ship, they need pre orders to help the cashflow and pay for distro. I agree though that King Arthur will not be an Avatar

Yeah TC is not charging $139 pre orders for 24 pack boxes. I would think TC knows more about AL then the average speculator.

I predict an all anglo set. Pale white skin across the board. The art is going to feel old and traditional. Perfect for a CERTAIN type of player. The kind with diverse language in their personal arsenal.

I see your logic with the 24 packs but there's no chance. Normal games have used 36 packs for 30 years without issue, even with 150 card sets. We know Erik wants to emulate Magic's early days and this goes far and away in the wrong direction. They'd have to design a new box and then you have 2 different sizes and it's just a shit show. So I would bet anything that they'll continue with 36 packs for the foreseeable future. Also, AL has been on pre-order from TC for a year now around $140, so we know the MSRP because TC only sells at MSRP. Also we already know all the future avatars will be faceless so there won't be any with proper names or any based on an existing character.
