Synthetic turf increases ambient temperature by 10-15 degrees & surface temp up to 200. Natural turf decreases ambient temp by up to 10 degrees. Synthetic turf also gives off carcinogenic vapors when in direct sunlight at 80+ degrees.
@tarasuazo3984 My point is that everybody's jumping all over this girl about the choices she made in her backyard. Instead, offer her a different solution to the plastic turf. Maybe they can tell her about low-lying grass or slow growing grasses.
@DoubleDSheree houses don't have heat? Car tires? There are so many other things that destroy the environment besides a piece of fake turf. Aka football stadiums. Way bigger than what she placed down. Everyone is jumping on her happiness with negative comments. Maybe offer her a different idea like. Slow growing grasses.
The lazy people ways of doing gardening. I'm so glad there are people who actually love gardening. Because you could have had and even more beautiful yard just by rolling up your sleeves and putting in the work Because the old garden could have been reallymagical. . This is for peope who want instant gratification. I don't like the process sometimes however when I repaired my lawn and did my own landscaping using environment friendly Products. This is fine for those who don't have the time nor enjoy the upkeep. Or those aren't physically able to put in the work.
i’d recommend clover, or doing some looking at your local native plants and picking out a few cover ones that you like!! stays low and easy to grow without…….. yeah
@@Lululemonpants_ it does not last forever and will end up in a landfill. It also has to be cleaned when, for example, birds crap on it. Things that fall on the fake turf do not decompose into the ground naturally like they would on real grass.
Everything plastic even the plants in the back. It looks like junk in a year. These stupid tik tokers think fresh oxygen comes from turf and plastic plants smh😅😢😒
I agree .. this sort of plastic turf is so damaging .. destroys habitat, increases surface water run off, ends up in land fill .. just have grass and don’t be so lazy
Nonnative lawns are way worse for the environment. That’s why California is such a fire stricken hellhole right now is all the fancy lawns and stupid almond orchards. All those nonnative plants suck up all the water and make the wilderness way more dry than it should be and then what should be a small needed natural fire turns into a massive destructive wildfire that destroys thousands of acres. These turf lawns are perfect for a fair number of states.
@@carportmodsProblem is people are doing things like this along with thousands if other idiotic things. Everyone thinks oh this one thing that only im doing is fine. Or they think they are only one person and their dont matter. Well they do when everyone thinks that.
I love your channel, but plastic grass is a no go zone for me. Not good for insects, plants, animals underground, and it also gasses off plastic in the heat.
This is actually really nice for those of us who are disabled and getting older. I can no longer maintain my back yard and it’s gotten far too expensive to continue paying for lawn services. I don’t get a lot of direct sunlight so this is doable.
Have rock put in, or native plants that don’t need cutting (they exist). Fake turf is not environmentally friendly, and hate to tell ya this, but old people are exactly who started us down this path
This was very helpful, adding a patch of artificial turf to my front patio. It looks so clean and nice. This video helped me with a quick run down of what i need to complete the job.
Some times it’s hard to maintain grass, in places like Arizona it’s not good for the environment to plant things that need excess water because of the water resources so everyone can shut up with the hate comments. Plus when you’re killing yourself at a corporate job having a lot of chores will drive you mental.
This is so fucking sad. Imagine having the privilege of being able to afford your own home with a big back yard and putting astro turf over it 😭 stop killing the environment because you dont want to mow holy shit
It’s causing health issues as well, the Italians football association has started ripping up all the Astro turf as they are seeing a raised in health issues amongst their players. It’s plastic, when the heat takes it, it will let of fumes, it’s absorbed into the skin, you will breathe in those same toxic fumes. It’s crazy how people are behaving as if they don’t care
* * * I'm Sorry the Everyone Thinks You SHOULD Do and LIke The Things THEY do and like. YOU DO YOU GIRL!! THE WORLD IS BIG ENOUGH FOR US ALL!! AND SHAME ON ANYONE WHO IS TRYING TO MAKE YOU WRONG! Thanks for the idea, It looks BEAUTIFUL!! I have a pathway that this would be PERFECT for! oxoxo. ROCK ON FRIEND!!
I build these for a living the green enfill will stain shoes and be super hot in the summer. Use self cooling white sand for the same cost! Looks great tho! :)
It was in the news that turf may contain PFAS non-stick chemicals and it's being debated as a cause of cancer in athletes (the EPA is about to regulate it in drinking water). You should check with your turf supplier before kids play on it.
Have to know your area's by-laws. In some places turf isnt allowed because of environmental implications. They can make you rip everything up and turn it back to grass.
This looks easy and beautiful to me, I will try this. But thankfully to all the not so pleasant comments 😂, I'll look/research for an environmentally friendly version. Being a single mom, and having a huge yard is taxing on my life😂
Looks incredible! Seems like a backyard you can go to for some nice R&R. If other people like that overgrown foresty look, let them have that. You enjoy the backyard you want
Here in Canada I've decided to implement this idea in my backyard, hater can hate she's a genius. Appreciate hardwork please alittle grass removed from earth wont damage the environment 😅
Synthetic turf increases ambient temperature by 10-15 degrees & surface temp up to 200. Natural turf decreases ambient temp by up to 10 degrees. Synthetic turf also gives off carcinogenic vapors when in direct sunlight at 80+ degrees. Putting disgusting plastic in your backyard instead of actual living plants is hilarious and disgusting. It's also terrible for the environment and not sanitary.
This was very helpful, adding a patch of artificial turf to my front patio. It looks so clean and nice. This video helped me with a quick run down of what i need to complete the job.
The before looked so beautiful, I would have planted David Austin roses, make it in to a cottage garden, but then again I love gardening. Anyway if you like it that’s all that matters, good job.
Nobody is talking about them weeds that’s coming up from the gravel in 90 days or less … bc we didn’t add a weed barrier to nothing. We just laid the material on raw land. 😅 But, keep on keeping on sis!
I have a rancher style home with a side platform. Porch doesn’t extend too far and recently had one of my 42’ trees fall on my porch. I’m trying to rebuild my front porch and side platform for a semi private area.
Much better to lay sand, then weed preventing mesh, then natural gravel accented with fast spreading low shrubs like juniper, jasmine, creeping fig. No mow, cooling, air refreshing. Make a small patio area for furniture.
I like it, my grass died, even though i watered alot 🤷 idk what happened now i have lots of dirt and after pulling weeds out every year thank God theres hardly any weeds. I like this solution
Why does everyone keep giving their opinion on what they'd do or what it does or what they wouldn't do or what they think. I don't even remembering seeing in her video of her asking what you'd do differently 🧐🤔 she asked what you thought about the transformation. If you don't like it just say "I don't like it" and it keep it pushing. You do not NEED to explain. I know it's itching some of you to do so, but you truly don't have to 😂 Anyway! Good job. Idk how you did that all on your own 😩😩😩😩 I would cry from being overwhelmed lmaoo
Wish I could show a pic of my ranch style home with an ascending driveway because my porch is short and I want to extend it and I also have a side platform or cement area if you want to call it that. Need to remodel. Childhood home I bought that has never been upgraded since the late 70’s. Ugh 😩
This is my favorite video of yours. I want to do this for my kids to have a clean play area. And need to find a way to keep the dogs out so they don’t poop all over it.
I’m not going to spread hate. So just going to say that nurturing nature is fun, growing your own plants and food is amazingly rewarding. Gardens shouldn’t be perfect or Insta ready, they should be rich in scents, buzzing with diversity and that indefinable pleasurable connection between you and your natural home. The feel of the earth, the warmth of dappled light zinging through tree canopies, the smell of the grass and flittering beautiful dance of butterflies between flowers cannot be replicated in a factory. This is soul food and fills our human minds with an ancient, instinctive sense of well-being and pleasure. I highly recommend trying gardening with nature, you’ll never go back. Don’t like mowing? No problem, try a mix of thyme plants. Little mowing with easy maintenance, beautiful flowers and smells so good you’ll be napping on the lawn at every opportunity. Sending my best.
That stuff gets so ooo hot tho. I could never. Besides doing yard work is like therapy. I love it even mowing. But yeah that stuff gets soo hot its misery in the summer.
I want to do this, but my house is 2 acres, and there is no way I'm doing a DIY home project. But after seeing your results now, im having 2nd thought, but i also dont wnat to ever mow the lawn
I don’t like ants and spiders on my lawn, yet they are useful to it. And I don’t like to use poison because my kids play in the yard. Why should I not consider turf?
Six professional US baseball players have died from glioblastoma after playing on ARTIFICAL TURF. There may be a connection. Artificial turf is made up of many chemicals, including Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and heavy metals-both of which pose potential health risks.
