Want to see the fish that I sent in return? You can kind of see how I set up my shipping box - here is her video of unboxing MY fish! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3E2YmyYHr6s.html These mahachaiensis are so beautiful - what do you think of them?
Love them! Also smardiga, coccina, imbellis and I've just got a trio of wild type splendens ( here in Australia, we have a feral population near the Alligator river! Occasionally they come up for sale, rather cheaply I might add. ) Even though the entire genus is an allowable import, wild betta species are hard to find here and are incredibly expensive ,😢.
GORGEOUS fish! One day I'd love to have some wild types, I'll probably start with a couple of females in the sorority I'm planning, set to star in the fish room we are in the beginning stages of set-up for. Thanks for sharing so many details about them. Do they get along together than the fighting-bred bettas? How many more months before you'll need to jar them individually?
@Anne Thornton They do get along well! Pairs or trios can be kept together because they aren't as aggressive as domestic bettas, which have been bred for fighting essentially. I'll jar them probable at 5 months or so, or when I see males bickering
@@SimplyBetta You made me laugh so loud when you said that in the video, you sounded JUST like my nine-year-old son (and fellow fish fan, with more than me!) !
Hi Taylor. You're awesome being a mom and taking the time in showing content and thoughts. No matter the quality is fine. So fun to see the marble in the belly of the frys when fed precious moments. Thank you !!!
They are so beautiful! 😍 The male looks like the Betta over on Foo the Flowerhorn’s channel called Kartofel 😬lol Hope I spelled that right. Keep up the amazing work 👍👍
Morning Taylor. I think these are the prettiest species of betta. Love their colouring. The more I see of the wild species the more I am falling in love with plakat type bettas vs the flashier versions.
Your Betta Juveniles look great. Best of luck with them. I'm raising some Betta Splendens fry I purchased at a club meeting and they're doing fine. There are six in all, and one is doubletail and at least 2 look to be halfmoon. I'm raising them on frozen dephnia and bottled instant baby brine shrimp (by Ocean Nutrition). I also used some golden pearls (500-800 microns). You are such a credit to the hobby, Taylor. Keep sharing these great videos with us.
my favourite betta species by far. I found someone selling these for $3 each! He couldn't get rid of them and offered three for that price! I said no since i didn't have enough tanks, but I do regret it just a bit, since they're about 15-20x more expensive at stores in my area. Absolutely love everything about them
Hi I'm thai and I very happy to see that you like the wild betta There are so many wild betta in thailand and all are beautiful so get a look you will love it and maybe you can make more vdos about it i really like wild betta mahachai I'm sorry if i write something wrong. English isn't my native language but i really like your vdos😍 so i try to learn more english.
I like the males in the wild species. The 1 you were showing was beautiful! They don't have the majestic fins of the crown tails or others but their fins are stiff and straight from body to fin tip and that has a unique beauty to it. I love my crown tails but I've wanted to find some wild species to raise for a long time.
I'd say it's not an overstatement to say that they are *exceptionally* pretty! Labyrinth fish in generally are very interesting fish and their courtship is beautiful. As a man, I also find it endearing that the males are so good parents. =)
Betta mahachai one of my fav wild betta in Splendens group, for now own 3pair of it, 2 of them green mahacai n 1 copper mahachai....now just waiting them to grow up little bit before breed them🥰.
I have a betta mahachaiensis male I just got a few weeks ago and he definitely seems much more active and energetic than any other betta I've ever owned. I am just getting started with fishkeeping again and thought I'd try a betta in a 5.5 gallon with some shrimp and snails and was attracted by the beautiful iridescence of the mahachai betta. He is definitely the most active betta I've ever kept and also the most predatory. I barely see my amano shrimp anymore because they know better than to come out during the day and I'm really wishing I went for the 10 gallon now. Are wild bettas in general much more active than domestics?
I got my first betta mahachai, I ordered a pair but I already took care of that problem, anyways, they're my first wild bettas. Mine have brown on em though. But I'm okay with that, I already love em.
I removed the female because that's just what I do. I removed the male too once the fry were free-swimming but some people just leave them all together
This is my video I’m speak about you channel 1 h 14’ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZQ4VM75xm_I.html You speak Spanish? My whassapp +5491155140965
I ordered 3 females for my males last October and...they all ended up being males as well. No luck on the breeding but they're great. Tried my luck with Stiktos instead and that has been quite fruitful.
Super stunning, and very lovely setup for how you grow them out. How big is the growout tank, after you remove them from the five gallon? :0 Thanks for sharing
I love this species of Betta Fish! So beautiful 😍 I have several different kinds of Plakets but my wish is to be able to have one of those guys in a heavily planted aquarium. I always load up the plants. My Bettas appreciate it. I'm just trying to find someone I trust to order from. I've never ordered and shipped a fish before. Only plants and micro worm cultures. Fingers crossed I get my wish soon!!! Thank you for sharing this video.
@@SimplyBetta Thank you, I appreciate your response! Maybe your next batch, when ready, I'll be lucky enough to get one shipped to me! I spoil my Bettas a little too much if u ask my bf. I go all out, all live plants and driftwood. I love aquascaping! I guess he doesn't understand my beautiful fishies the way I do. They appreciate the heavily planted environment. I have a new batch of betta fry. Can't wait to see what they will look like! Best hobby ever!!!!!!!
To differentiate them from the common domestic fish. These are species that can literally be plucked out of the Water in SE Asia. The betta complex is a pretty big one and there are a lot of species
recently acquired a male alien betta which the store marketed as Splendens. i regret not bringing home the female as well. do you feel that a planted 10G is suitable to keep both a male and a female long term?
(During breeding) Does the male mahachai carry all the color to the fry or can the female’s genes contribute just as much? The females are brown but their genetics should still play a part in the spawn’s color right?
I suppose they're going to change colors when becoming adults ? The adults are gorgious. Did you have to do the same preparation for them to spawn than with a raised betta ?
Yes, the fry will darken and look more like their adult counterparts as they mature. I actually find the wild species to be easier than domestics! Same basic preparation but the male isn’t as incredibly aggressive
I have 7 Bettas and they are gorgeous I have a purple one a electric blue and solid red butterscotch and a blue and red and purple one I LOVE your vids ps I have a male juvinile unicorn betta
You seem to know what your doing with shipping betas lol. So my question is would it be safe for me to get a beta in the mail now? I live in the upper part of New England and it’s getting rather cold and idk if a heat pack would be enough. Would you recommend I wait till summer? I’m working on setting up more beta tanks to add to my little clan. I love rescuing sick ones but I also really want a few from reputable breeders.
Hi! Well, I consider shipping to to be dangerous once it gets around 40° nighttime temps and below. It’s less risky if you have it delivered to the post office or FedEx or UPS office to have it picked up, rather than going on delivery trucks for home delivery freezing for eight hours. It’s also less risky if you use the fast for form of shipping when your typical priority or flat rate
Simply Betta oh shipping it to an office is definitely a good idea. Cuz at this time of year and easily can get down to freezing temperatures were I live. I’m hoping to get a fish from you the next time you have some for sale as well as one from someone called spacecityfish. You guys are my favorite fish keepers. Lol I already have tanks just about ready to go.
BelieveInShadows Well thanks so much for your interest! I appreciate it. I should have more fish available in the spring, or at least in a few months. Hopefully when the weather warms up a little bit
