I recently had the chance to talk to film editor Eddie Hamilton about his career, and we briefly spoke about the rise of AI, which encouraged me to do this video essay.
Wild Blue Yonder is a fascinating episode of Doctor Who that's stuck with me since broadcast, and I wanted to get to the bottom of why it's still impactful months after it aired. For me, it's how it talks about AI.

How you only have 8 subscribers is beyond me. Your analysis here is absolutely great and is the 1st video I've seen that fully convinced me of the episodes AI undercurrents. Wild Blue Yonder is also one of my favourites of RTD2, only beaten by 73 Yards in my opinion.

great video! i find the detail about the backgrounds being uncanny very interesting- in the behind the scenes for doctor who, there seems to be a lot of emphasis on making sets that are almost entirely real, without the use of greenscreens & cgi, but in this episode, the set was mostly greenscreened in, which probably adds to that weird & uncanny feeling.
