Over here its mainly called wild camping much to the annoyance of those who actually wild camp i.e. sleeping in a bivvy bag in some remote spot. There are attempts to rename it free camping but I don’t like that. There is nothing free about it as the vehicle costs a fortune and we need fuel like everyone else. 😁👍
Ken and Carol, thank you for opening our eyes to parts of the country that we would otherwise have missed. You have a good eye through the lens for the small details that might seem mundane to the rest of us. As well as being highly informative videos about van life, history and places, they are also a window into the world of you as a couple, which is especially charming. Thank you as ever.
Thank you Andrew. We try and give an honest account of places we visit and what it is like travelling in a small van. Your comment is much appreciated ☺️
Hi Thanks for your videos again glad you’re out and about, lots of variety in your content. All the best, David. Ps l love Lincolnshire lots of hidden gems.
Ken, I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has a magic jacket. Twice I've recently lost a bunch of keys only for them to suddenly appear in the jacket I've already checked. Take care, great video once again.
Currently sitting in my own little camper on another local cheeky one-nighter and was delighted to see you'd posted another instalment so I poured a glass of red and got my feet up! Thoroughly enjoyed again. Safe and happy travels to you both 🙂
Lovely channel, only just come across it and now binge watching your back catalogue! You should try a ‘wonderbag’ as a slow cooker. It is an eco, non electric, charity produced slow cooker. I have been using one in the van for a few years and haven’t looked back. It is secure enough to leave your food cooking whilst you drive around and means you can get all of your prep done first thing in the morning. Also a really worthwhile cause! Keep up the good work, there are not enough genuinely interesting, wholesome channels out there!
Such fond memories of the region back in the 80's when assigned to RAF Chicksands in Bedfordshire. Hopefully you will travel there in the future (Clophill. Meppershall, and Shefford) to see those delightful villages. England doesn't change...only we become older! We also are traveling now here in Indiana as you do the same in England. You both are an inspiration for what travel means to our well being in life. Thank You!
A recent subscriber to this channel and really pleased I have found it keep up the great work love from Binbrook Lincolnshire England and I am moving to Louth this week think you should come travel round here it's lovely
I don't know why are you surprised?! The King of the Dandies must have had mysterious pockets, maybe key teleportation was part of the deal too! :D Lovely video, can not express how glad I am you guys are back in the Little Red Camper! Aye! :D So seems like you are mask-free now outdoors, on the streets too! How good that must be! :D Our government wants us to stay masked the whole year...supposed to end 23rd of May, to let summer be free like last year (which I highly recommend because as I experience it everywhere, people are losing it - sanity). Sorry for the long run with this comment. Capt.
We have always been allowed to be mask free outdoors in England and only have to wear them inside public places. Hope you can be mask free for the summer so you can enjoy the freedom of the high seas in all its glory ⛵️🌞😎
@@LifeistooshortCK staple ingredient in India, every curry meal uses red onion, if you like one pot meals i would recommend you look at you tube site get curried, Anda Bhurji, leave out the green chillies to start, but very tasty and perfect for camping😊.
I always enjoy your videos. They are calming, interesting, and soothing. Thank you for creating a sweet place to escape to on a fine spring day here in the states. Mary
Lovely video. Good to have a treat now and then on the keto diet, would be rude not to try the pies in Melton Mowbray wouldn’t it. Kissing gate kiss was very sweet 🥰 Love watching your travels in your little red camper
Thank you for showing us another lovely part of England. England is especially a very special place for me. I hope Mark, my husband will get to explore the many lovely parts of England with me too. By the way, your beef stew looks delicious.
Glad you enjoy the music. The tracks for this video are: 00:32 Looking for treasures by G Yerro 01:15 Downstream by Muted 03:46 Still moving on by Luminar 06:10 Rae by Kevin Graham 20:10 After the war by James Forest
No Defib’ on board TLRC Ken Arghh !! 😜😜 LOL Those lovely Willows have there summer dresses on now, so graceful. 👍 Ive caught some very big Pike and Trout in days gone by at Rutland. Hows your health today Ken ! Anna was a lucky but brief Queen ?? In many ways. It myst be very tempting travelling past all these artisan country food shops ! Oh Pork Pie heaven x Great vlog again you two, Take Care . Thanks Stephen 👍🚐🚐😘
Thanks for all your lovely comments Stephen. The pork pie was very tasty and it is becoming more difficult staying on this diet with each day that passes. Let’s see what the doc says tomorrow 🙂
Wonderful vlog :-) thanks for the history lesson too. Thoroughly enjoyed each and every bit of the vlog. Also, at times we thought that we are back in Ireland seeing your vlog :-) Stay blessed and thanks.
Hi to you both, what a lovely vlog, it feels like we are right there with you, especially liked the key escapade!!! Andy is always doing the same thing or misplacing his phone, ooops you did that in another vlog I seem to remember 😘 have fun you too, it was lovely to see you having a kiss at the kissing gate, we do that too!! and keep on wild camping!!! Love it, we aim to do more too, take care Xx
Thanks so much, guys. Yes we are always losing things and are trying to train ourselves to always put things in the same place in the van so we know where to find them! Good luck with the wild camping, have fun and stay safe ☺️
That was very nice and very interesting love hearing any history and Carol seems to love it , it was a shame that the castle was taken down I guess they used all the stone for building in and around the area. I saw that you gave up on the coffee bags try to locate a Philippine store as I am sure you will enjoy the 3 in 1 coffee and there is quite a selection of them. Have a great weekend look forward to the next video. Take care stay safe .
Oh my what a giggle. Keys getting lost, and suddenly they are in your pocket!😄Yes I know that story. My husband gets wild with me. At least I don't lose my wallet..... that happened in SA. We drove miles back to the last stop, and it was in the gap between the seat and door.
When you said Melton Mowbray I thought Pork Pie, you didn't disappoint. I so enjoyed watching this. Great Dronie at the church and Carol sure knows her history. Let me know if you need a help tracking down the culprit who hid the keys in your pocket.
Thanks Andrew. We have no immediate plans to visit Cornwall or Devon this year as it will probably be very busy there and wild camping may be difficult. I am sure we will go back there once covid is more under control and there is a lot more freedom of movement.
No I could hear you fine, I enjoyed seeing the Northamptonshire countryside, although flat in many places it was still nice to look at, that Castle looked great worth a visit for the Photography alone, take care you two, regards, Colin.
The stew looked delicious. Part of my food prep this week for my fall travels. I dehydrated salsa to use as a seasoning. Blueberries are next for the dehydrator. I add these to morning oatmeal and powderize and add to baked goods. Not keto ones😋
Ha we laughed as like you I can’t walk past a good pork pie and justify why we need a large one and then when you lost your keys that is so me normally blame jane - great shots and enjoyed the story you put together
Funnily enough we lost one of our van keys too (we’ve only had the van for three weeks 🙈) and after a couple of days we were starting to really worry. I found it this morning in the van sink 😂 Somebody must’ve put it there during our trip out to have a play with the van - the six-year-old denies all knowledge but we’re not convinced....🤔 Also I love your new cloth-drying trick - was just wondering about that so thank you 👍🏻
We always forget about checking in the sink when we have finished a trip. There is often a stray teaspoon or dishcloth left behind until the next outing! We wish we had come up with the cloth drying trick months ago 😁
I hope your doctor's trip went well - visually it seems you are back in the pink. I have a bit of heel problem from all my covid walking trips that I hope my doctor will cure for me. I must admit that I am not much of a "visit the doctor" type person per se. If it hasn't fallen off, then let's push on! I always find it interesting to see the differences between your local towns etc and life here in my neck of the woods in the USA. Best to you and Carol - cheers!
Dr visit went well. She diagnosed Rosacea as my problem. That’s fine by me, I just wanted to rule out anything more serious. Big difference in the US of course is that medical treatment seems to cost a lot more over there. Ours costs the same of course except they take the money a different way. 👍
Beautiful scenery & interesting history. You found some great camping spots. Does your battery ever run out not being on hookup? Good tip on the cloths & I’ll strike coffee bags off the shopping list! Beef stew looked very tasty, amazing what you both cook in a limited space. It’s surely me, but I had to crank up the volume to hear you on this episode. RIP Prince Philip.
Thanks Louise. Our battery only got down to 65% on this trip. While we are moving on every day it is never a problem and with the sun shining we had a bit of a boost from the solar panel as well. Sorry about the sound being a bit low on this one 😐
We identify places we want to visit on Google Maps and check out the footpaths using an App called Pocket Earth. We download the Pocket Earth maps at home in case there isn’t a signal when we are out travelling 🙂
What a coincidence - We saw my family in Melton (cousin works in the pork pie shop) and then we spent the day and night in Rutland Water, exactly where you decided not to stay - no mossies when we were there! You'll see it (and yourselves!) in episode 3, week after next. :)
How spooky is that! That spot on Rutland Water was very scenic, great to get it to yourselves and without the mossies. Looking forward to your next episode 😀👍
You are not alone in having that worry but the truth is its a tiny part of the campervan experience. In such a small van you have to be comfortable using pee bottles and as for number twos the need for that in the van is very rare as you make sure you go any chance you get in public loos whilst you are out and about. 😁
Posted this on your Instagram but might be of use for others - Hi just looking at your Lincolnshire videos, you mentioned flies and that you like to keep windows down, we have just brought some magnetic strips and fly nets and we cut to size just bigger than windows and put a small piece of magnetic strip in the four corners, this attaches to van on the outside and allows us to keep windows down, obviously only when parked up. It did not stick great to netting so I put a bit both sides to make like a sandwich. Might help you for park ups near water and indeed anywhere where you don’t want flies in.
Hi hi Paul, thanks so much for reposting this here as we are great believers in sharing information as widely as possible. So many good people have shared tips with us and we really appreciate it. I think your suggestion for the fly screens is an excellent one. We have the material but we need to make a better job of it I think.
Hi both, I don't know that neck of the woods very well but after see this episode it's on my list for future jaunts, it looks quite tranquil and beautiful. My two brothers in law live in Lincolnshire and Suffolk so I've got really covered the bit inbetween. Did you manage to track down any fill it yourself Coffee/Tea bags. It would be interesting to see if your favourite grind tastes as good brewed that way as in your Aeropress. Keep well and keep travelling safely.
I'm with you on the large pork pie. Don't you have a table to eat off? I guarantee if I ate off a tray the meal would end up on the floor in pretty short order.
It's a DJI Mavic Mini 2. In my opinion it's the best one to get as it is just below the 250g limit so can be flown anywhere as long as you obey the rules regarding people and buildings.
I’m Leicester born and bred and whilst in MM you have to visit Ye Olde Pork Pie shop. Lovely pies. And the Stilton is quite different to some of the rubbish you buy in supermarkets. Oh, and Red Leicester is the business.
Cauliflower should be white, that looked creamy yellow to me. What is generally called broccoli these days is actually more properly Callabrese. You could however refer to all of them a broccoli or even call them Brassica. Personally the only one I dislike is the Callabrese. The others all have better cleaner flavours. Ken is from Sussex and when I was younger we grew both the creamy yellow broccoli and the white Cauli.
@@LifeistooshortCK there's even a purple one just like a Cauli but purple curds surrounded by green leaves. Tastes much like the white and the yellow and tends to lose it's colour a bit unless you steam it or put it in with Roasted veg. Look in the Farmers markets and greengrocers. 👍
Hi guy's, Windowtax!!! It's a joke? It wouldn't in the contrary surprise me what the government can come up with... Lovely and serene video by the way. Regards Rickard from Sweden 🇸🇪
No joke in 1697 we really did have a window tax. The thinking was only the wealthy had many windows but over time more and more people were caught by the tax 👍🇬🇧
@@LifeistooshortCK Well, the state and the church together always have found ways to squeeze the last drops out of the sponge.... Where have you planned to travel when you can stay overnight? Regards Rickard from Sweden 🇸🇪
@@rickardenstedt We are allowed to stay overnight since 12th April. This video is part of an 8 night trip we just completed. We had intended to go to France or Norway but its still difficult to travel.
You stated you can’t slow cook in your camper. Simply get a Thermal Cooker. It cooks for 5 hours to 7 hours without using any power. I use one in my caravan on a regular basis. There’s lots of videos on RU-vid explaining them.
There is a wizard like Ken, he is in the rift wars books and he can put things in his bag and they are completely gone, then later, there they are again.
Pressure cookers are great especially the Ninja Foodie which can pressure cook and air fry. Sadly we just don’t have the space for one in our little van. 👍
