Hello, wonderful people of RU-vid! Welcome back to my little channel and also a warm welcome to those of you who are new here. Thank you for joining me!
I know it has been a loooong time since I posted a video, as we all know, it has been a MAD few months! I appreciate you all, my returning subscribers, for bearing with me.
So...I finally got around to editing a video of one of my funsized adventures in Scotland. Here, I hike up towards The Mamores from Kinlochleven. Set camp at Coire An Lochain and cooked a super easy 3-ingredient Asian meal on my Trangia 27. What can I say, the clear loch water was very inviting so even though I knew it was gonna be cold, an evening dip before bed had to be done!
I was wanting to hike up Binnein Mor and Na Gruagaichan the next morning but the weather has turned for the worse. I didn’t fancy spending hours hiking up only to look at fog and mists at the top so I hiked back down to Kinlochleven for a splashing time at Grey Mares Waterfall! It was epical. 💚

Mari is back out camping! And we're all grateful. As ever in awe of your strength, I'd be crying like a baby before long carrying that lot that far. And as for the swimming, my head loves the idea but one toe in the water and I know I'd bottle it. 3 ingredients is haute cuisine for most of us, but for you it's a real challenge 😁. @@FunsizedEarthling 10kg, with a Soulo as well... That's incredible! I can't even spend an hour making a brew in the woods for under 12kg. You're a packing guru Mari. Have you ever done a 'what kit I pack' vid? I know they are a bit of a cliche and most are very samey, but yours could well be an eye opener as you always seem to make yourself very comfortable, and the cooking is always an inspiration. Anyway, whatever you are doing, keep on doing it. 👍

Cotton Bud It’s the little sacrifices I make...I don’t make proper filter coffee like you, although I would love to. Hmm..I haven’t really considered it, I did it once before when I first started doing multi day hikes/camp but it wasn’t very good. 😅 Have you ever made one? Hope you’re having a lovely evening! Mari

Two nighter! Gorgeous food again Mari! I see with my stomach first haha. Apologies I thought I had commented on this video when I watched it but just came on to check and found I hadn’t. Another lovely pitch up, how did you find the running water that was near you, lots of people don’t like the sound and can’t sleep but it relaxes me. That looks an amazing place to camp. Did you see any fish in the loch? I love a camp spot by a wee hill lochain that I can take my rod up too and catch my dinner not sure I would be brave enough to go swimming though :). the Grey Mares Tail looked a lot better than I thought it was. I have spent a lot of weekends in Kinlochleven and never done this trail. It looks really fun with the wee scramble. Cheers for another great video!

It looked a tough walk in but worth it for the great views you had. It always takes me ages to acclimatise to the cold water when I have done a wild swim, so I am always amazed at how quick you manage to get in to the water. What a stunning view the setting sun gave you and well done on your cooking challenge , it looked very hearty as well, just what you needed after a hard days hiking with a camping backpack on. Such a shame about the morning (unforecast) rain but it is Scotland.....That waterfall was amazing as was the daredevil walk around it, which I thought you coped with really well. Great watch! Watched full video, hit like too :) Super glad to see you back on the trails and wild camp spots, you seem to have a love for Scotland! I showed my wife the Teriyaki Salmon she was almost drooling hehe, what an awesome spot - I might only get a week this year for a long distance trip and seriously thinking of Scotland with a stop over in Wales for maybe a night or two on the return trip. Hopefully the Bothies will reopen before that time .... Anyway, I'm going to swing back to this vid in a month or so as I'm deperate to see if the usual barrage of OTT health and safety survival experts come out commenting about your rock manuvering at that little pipe and rope bridge - how you were ''a lonesome female and shouldnt have been doing that by yourself'' ... haha, you know the type I'm talking about. ;) Cheers Chris

Well you've brightened my morning up, lovely to see your smiling face Mari, have you actually weighed your pack? You seem to have loads of gear including cooking items, I don't know how you carry it all. Beautiful scenery, you do go to some fantastic spots. I thought you were pitching you're tent facing the water?. I miss Scotland, I lived in Aberdeen for 3 years, always going on outings to the highlands and fantastic rivers and rapids. Such a cool waterfall image, you're very brave going in... or bonkers. Loved it. Lee

Hey, Lee! Wow.. Must be nice living in Scotland. Why did you move?? 😄 My pack averages between 9-12 kg for an overnighter nowadays 😬 I know that’s quite a lot for mountain hiking. @@FunsizedEarthling Was up that way last year for a few days, done a lot of walking with 20kg weight on back and camped up Beinn a'Chrulaiste. It poured down for 5 days straight so ended up booking into Glen Coe Youth Hostel for a couple of nights. Hope to get back up again sometime soon. Meanwhile enjoying watching your videos :).

Feverstockphoto I remember how 20kg feel on your back after hours of hiking 🙈 Never again! It gave me nasty blisters on my hips/shoulders and one of my big toenail didn’t like it either. 😬 Do you still carry that much on your hikes? You’re a stronger man than I am. 😄 Hope you manage to go back out/up there again soon!!

@@FunsizedEarthling I'm 63kg so 20kg was way too much weight really to be enjoyable, especially going up hill so I'm with you on that one, never again! :). Would like to get pack weight down to around 15kg if possible, I was carrying some camera gear, tripod, lenses which all add up so could cut down a bit there, just take one lens... I also need get a lighter tent, currently it weighs just over 3kg and my backpack is 2kg. Yep got bruises & blister on my second big toe after a few slips coming back down the hill, not nice when you're soaked right through from head to toe but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so they say! :).
