Wild Glaciers, Jumping Salmon, & B.C. Camping | Into Alaska Ep.4 a 30-Day Overland & Canoe Adventure
Hey adventure enthusiasts, Jim Baird here, and welcome back to the wild ride that is "Into Alaska." In Episode 4, we trade the comforts of a BC recreational site for the rugged beauty of the Cassiar Highway in Northern BC.
Follow us on social media:

Off the beaten path, we take a detour onto Highway 37a, where we're treated to jaw-dropping views of some seriously impressive glaciers. Mother Nature sure knows how to put on a show, and every curve in the road reveals another piece of her stunning masterpiece.
But that's not all! Along the way, we stumbled upon something truly special - an Indigenous Wet'suwet'en salmon dip-netting operation. These folks are doing more than just fishing; they're conducting essential research. Picture this: recording salmon numbers, measuring their sizes, and releasing them above a picturesque waterfall. Oh, and yeah, they're also processing some for a good old-fashioned feast.
It's a fascinating look at how tradition, sustainability, and the great outdoors all come together. I've always believed that understanding the delicate balance between our needs and the environment is key, and these folks are nailing it.
After all the action, we make our way to Clemans Lake, where we set up camp against a backdrop that's basically nature's version of a lullaby. The tranquility of the lake, surrounded by towering trees and the sounds of wildlife, sets the stage for a night of reflection and gratitude for the incredible experiences we've had so far.
As we share these moments with you, I hope you feel the same sense of wonder and connection to the wild that keeps me coming back for more. If you're digging the "Into Alaska" series, hit that thumbs up, subscribe, and ring that notification bell for more rugged adventures. Wow, once again Jim & Tori & family; you've captured so much beautiful scenery, sights, on yr trip! BRAVO, to all yr filming & editing & absolutely breath taking scenery/animals along the way. You are a beautiful family of 5, & I'm totally in awe of yr adventures, family, & being such excellent parents!! Yr kids are just so precious & I can't get enough of the Cuddy cam!! Lol! I really can't wait for the rest of yr adventure to unfold. I too am Cdn, & grew up camping in an old pull tent trailer with my parents & 2 older sisters. Toured CAN & US for many yrs! Nothing better than being in Nature & learning from the lands!! Can't wait for canoe trip, & yes a wee bit apprehensive like Tori, but I Know, you'll be Good, as we are all following along, & sending the best possible vibes/light to yr families safe adventures always. Happy Holidays to you & yr family. ❤🙏🎆💜

In our society it seems like mothers get all the praise for loving on their kids, but I appreciate seeing you kiss Wesley and nurture him like a loving father does. I raised our kids from birth until they went to school while my wife worked, and a father’s love is no less valid. Being a real man is showing your family how much you love them. Good on you, Jimbo.

I just have to say, you guys are truly opening people's minds to what things you can accomplish with children yes, but even more so a child with a disability. It's hard to believe people with disabilities were put in homes up until just a few decades ago. It makes me incredibly happy to see your family pushing the boundaries and showing people a life they probably never imagined possible. You're opening peoples minds more than you know! Love it.

This African American city girl is living the wilderness life through your family, Tori and Jim! I cannot lie...not asking where you potty out there, but I wonder.🤣🤣 I've been hooked on Alone from the beginning...to the point of subscribing to VPN last year to see the Australia Season 1 a year before it was shown on History Channel here in the US and Season 1 of either Sweden or The Netherlands (can't quite remember...had to read English captions...but it was good). I have been equally hooked on the Bairds since Ted and Jim won their season too. Feel like the kids are my nephews, who are also biracial. Love your music selections, and the filming/editing is exquisite. Keep loving, Baird Family! May God bless you all with peace, safety, and joie de vivre❣❣

Last summer my wife and I drove up to Whitehorse from here in San Jose. On the way back we came down highway 37, spent a night at Dease lake. That truly is beautiful country, we saw a lot of wildlife, including an awesome little black fox/coyote? that had a hunk of meat he was dragging across the highway that was about half a big as he was. Anyhow, love your videos, especially with Tori and the boys. Be safe.

Love your wholesome family adventures- as a lifelong resident of the PNW-I have always wanted to checkout nanaimo hot springs, BC. Our 3 children are nearly grown but perhaps you might reserve a room for you and your amazing wife in the future. Was a dream of my husband and myself to cross the border and enjoy these hotsprings. Albeit 20 plus years ago. Now our children ages 22, 18, and 15… that was long ago. Love your Huddy cam, and your wife is definitely the highest of the most high , especially in todays world. To sum it up- I love your adventures together. It’s definitely not easy, yet well worth the memories. Hint- hint take your lady on a trip for 2-❤

These natives work for Fisheries Canada. They are harvesting eggs for the hatchery they run. The concrete structure is a fish ladder to help salmon up fast rapids. In this part of the world native culture is built onSalmon and we take it all very seriously.

Thanks Dave, thanks a lot. I didn’t know they were collecting the data for fisheries canada. Cool that that is a fish ladder. I’ve never seen one like that before. I did get the chance to chat with one of guys doing the dip netting when he got off and he filmed me in on a few other things. I thought it was all really cool as it’s not the kind of thing you see typically on my side of the country. Have a good one.
