Dude you have no idea how nice it is to have these videos available for pretty much any game worth playing. Definitely saves me a lot of cash or makes me spend it😂
Played up till the city so far (can't go beyond till release), about 10 hours, loving it. As a MH veteran this one gets all the important stuff right. My own PS5 experience has been good. Occasional slowdown only, but I'm not super fussy as long as it stays above 30fps honestly. Graphics are variable from great in some spots to just okay in others. Overall, looking forward to playing a lot more, I can see myself putting a lot of hours into this one. [Update: full disclosure, as I've played more I have encountered more occasional graphical glitches, but am still enjoying the game a lot).
@@rafalos-zx6go I can only vouch for PS5, and I'm maybe less sensitive to that sort of thing than some may be, but I've not really noticed anything 🤷♂️ That's not to say there is none, just that I've personally not noticed it.
tons of graphical issues but overall a great experience. as an old man who’s played almost every single monster hunter, this game is a great competitor
Been playing the game for two days now and I've been enjoying it. I think there are things to get used to like monsters feel like their attacks don't miss because they stay locked on through attacks and you have to into them which can take a bit to learn. It has a charm to it which makes it stand out and does pretty good to make it feel different from monster hunter.
I have a feeling you're picturing that big boar slam when you say they lock on, because yes, that has frustrated me a lot until I learned to just go between the legs. Putting my weapon away became huge for me. But yeah, many monster attacks feel cheap, but the s are awesome.
@@kaalz1178 Yeah, especially up against a hillside, some trees, or buildings. I guess as long as 3rd person action games exist, camera issues will too.
This game lacks the ability to solo well. Weapons like bow are just not worth the time. I'd say this game needs a lot of improvements. Dodging is weak. You can't lock on well.
This isn't Omega Forces first entry into this genre. Omega Force also worked on the Toukiden games which are also monster hunter style games, quite good at that. So I was pretty confident they would do a good job as Toukiden is also very good. The game unfortunately has some performance issues, but I heard they already acknowledged it and will be releasing a patch next week.
@R. Flores I never got to play much of soul sacrafice but I love toukiden. Especially the updated Kiwami version which is actually on ps4. Definitely worth trying.
This game looks cool and if I was younger and had endless free time, I'd probably give it a shot on sale. As an adult gamer tho, this game just has that vibe that all the building mechanics will make it more of a chore than I want it to be. I am at the point where I want my video games to just be games again instead of massive time commitments.
I love this comment! That was what's kept me from Monster Hunter. Love the concept and understand you're "hunting" but it sometimes felt like 1 moster/hour and I want to game free time.
@@dragjamon I agree. As much as I love a good open world game, not every game needs to be 80-100 hours minimum. This trend will die off eventually tho because its development hell and takes SO long to make one game. Eventually they are going to realize that games at 20 hours length are making the same if not more money and get back to quality over quantity and the only open worlds left will people that actually do it well.
@@Doublemint27 Yeah I'm to the point where if a dev starts bragging about "100s of hours of content" it kind of kills my interest now. For me to play an a massive open world game its needs to be perfect. Good story, good characters, pretty to look at, fun gameplay, and great music. If its missing even one of these attributes its not worth the time commitment so most Ubisoft games, not my cup of tea. CDPR is the only dev that nails open worlds. Just finished CyberPunk last week and at 80 hours I was actually sad to walk away from that world. lol
Super fun game. I've got 60 hours on Wild Hearts now and have been playing Monster Hunter for 8 years or so, and Wild Hearts is no doubt a capable competitor-at least, once they fix the performance issues.
For anyone reading this: Wild Hearts has an issues, that the devs know about and have posted on the steam page, the Code is not using your GPU to process the graphics but your CPU. So if you have a weak CPU, the game will run very poorly, but if you have a monster of a CPU, you should be able to play it a comfortable levels. They are working on this and expect the have a fix by the next week at the latest. I am able to run this game on my PC on the lowest settings and always stay above 30fps, but yeah, this game looks amazing when it works. I promise this game will be worth the 70$ once they fix the Coding error so that is uses your GPU. This could also explain why it runs smoother on the PS5 than on other devices of similar power like low-end PCs or Xbox. So definitely keep this game on your wishlist and who knows, maybe you will be able to get the game at a discount by the time it is fixed. The devs also got EA to agree to NO MTX, so 70$, maybe one DLC and that's it. Please support this game if they do fix the GPU issue, this game is really fun and I don't want this game to turn out like Blur...I miss Blur...
Haven’t heard about Wild Hearts too much so thanks for the review Falcon. You basically answered all the questions I had about it considering it was a similar type of game to Monster Hunter! Might check it out after Atomic Heart!
LMAO broooooo I was in the same boat with Atomic Heart until I read your comment... I was like wth is Atomic Heart? I immediately went to steam and no I have it pre ordered. All your fault. Hahaha
Games are vecoming more and more under optimized while they pile on more and more assets. On top of that since computers are still doubling in power every few years they have no need to optimize
Just picked this up. It was released free on EA for Xbox. I honestly love it. I haven’t experienced the visual issues but maybe once or twice in 20hrs of gameplay. Definitely going into my list of fave games of 2023.
One of my favorite parts about MH is that when you break parts, the limp and are reactive. Dauntless does the broken parts pretty well. You can see tails, horns, etc fall off and them react accordingly. Does this game do any of that?
I was waiting for this one! I've put in well over 500 hours between World and Rise, so i'm definitely looking forward to this despite the graphical issues. Always love the before you buys.
Not here to persuade you one way or the other, but on PC the game is borderline unplayable (regardless of hardware or settings). I know he played up the framerate and stuttering issues a lot, but somehow it's even worse. Coming from MHR it's certainly jarring.
@@Nightenstaff glad I pre ordered on ps5 instead of pc. Love my computer but that seems to be the case this generation. Dropping a rushed pc port and seeing if the community complains enough and if they do fix it within 48 hours. Done with it, if it’s a pre order and it’s not a shooter. It’s on ps5 for now while the hardware is still current and capable
@@codysimpson911 No one cares about these things. Go back to twitter with that bullshit. Better yet. Leave your delusions and mental health issues between yourself and your therapist.
I just started the free trial last night, made it to the first NPC playing the music. I agree the graphics are very Switch-ish but from the little combat I experienced I think I might like it. Glad I watched this, thanks bud. Now subscribed 👍🏾
it might be a small detail but when i saw you can build a "mirror" to freely edit your character i was very pleased. for some reason in monster hunter world you had to pay real cash to buy a ticket to edit your character's looks. and i also heard Wild Hearts devs will be giving free DLC updates so at the end of the day i will fully purchase this game
In a way it's good a game like this is coming out. I think Capcom started making more of these microtransactions for just basic things like character editing because there was no competition in sight. Hopefully with Wild Hearts will make them think twice before slapping microtransactions
Anytime EA manages to put out a great game the entire gaming community is delighted yet perplexed. I've been keeping my eye on this one since the reveal, glad it turned out to be a fun game. Definitely need to play it.
It’s what’s keeping me from getting the game, I really hope they drop a performance patch over the weekend or something so I can actually pick up the game and enjoy it.
As for the graphical issues, it has been confirmed by the Devs that they will be fixing up everything in a patch next week. So if you're the type of person who really needs the graphics and stuff to be up to par (or you're playing on PC) then I would recommend waiting for the patch. Me personally, I have been really excited about the game and already pre-ordered. Plus I'm not really the type to care either. But yes a patch will be coming to fix all that. And if you're worried about microtransactions it's also been confirmed that there will be none. If you're worried about endgame it's been confirmed that there will be in endgame and free title updates as well. I'm getting all of this information from a dev QnA btw.
The performance issues aside, I’m not the least bit mad about dropping the 65$ for this game. Honestly compared to some of the other games that have been released in the last couple years this is defiantly one of my favorites. Although there’s only so much gameplay you can do. It feels really great while your playing it.
Thanks for the in depth review! I've not played any Monster Hunter games, but this makes the genre look really fun. Just may wait for a few patches to come out before buying. Also...I saw that you sneak up and pet non-aggressive wildlife, so that's another bonus.
Thank you for the review. I appreciate the before you buys from this channel. One thing i missed though: how will the multiplayer Mode Look like. Is it like in MH, that you cannot explore coop but play already accomplished missions together "again" or did they finally change that? The Performance issues when playing Solo probably already answer this one... ?
This game honestly felt like such a blast! Tried it for two hours with EA play, and the only thing holding me back from picking it up is the performance. I really hope they are able to fix it soon!
Love the game! PS5. It was amazing enough for me in other departments to overlook any shortcomings. I'm really looking for art direction, style, gameplay, music, fun factor - all of that before graphics anyway - and it really delivered on all of those other things. I don't really care about graphics, but if they can improve it some, or get more investment into development and optimization for a sequel great! What is here I loved. As regards the performance, it ran ok on the PS5. Some frame drops. Nothing that really impeded my play, but if you com to games for graphics and performance first, this may not be a game for you. There is a patch coming next week to address some things for PC players and maybe over time, some optimization for console, but I am happy enough with where it is, due to other qualities it has.
I actually liked deteriorating sharpness in the old monster hunter games it added to the feeling of growth from a newbie to an advanced hunter after learning to go in fully prepared with the items you needed for every hunt kind of like remembering to keep enough paintballs on you so you can mark your monster otherwise you would fail the hunt trying to find where the monster ran off to I can see why they're making monster hunter more mainstream but I miss the difficulty/rewarding feeling of the old games on the psp and 3ds
There's SOME parts to what you're saying but there's also a wall where you have to recognize it's not difficulty and reward just tedium and monotony. It's not DIFFICULT to bring paintballs, it's not REWARDING to stop fighting and throw a paintball cause it wore off. Being fully prepared and doing the "hunter" experience is a thing vs the brute force beat down but to me that's things like the shock traps, part breaks, environmental traps etc.
@@thatrandomguyo1 not sure why you're writing in all caps I know how to read but like I said I get it some people want to just get right to it and fight the cool monster with a gps that takes you right to it and a system that auto crafts everything for you as you pick up random stuff and other people like the micro management of everything and enjoy having to find and hunt the monster down and having to remember the crafting recipe. What you see as tedious I saw as a unique game experience that although could be frustrating at times added to the difficult learning curve and ultimately the reward of successfully hunting the monster.
@@yung-tuwei2284 I've also been playing since monster hunter freedom unite and I didn't see it as tedious I just saw it as part of the learning curve because that's just what the game was. I found world pretty boring to play because it crafted for you, it gave you unlimited whetstone, the firefly gps, and all the other ways it held your hand. I kinda miss when the game wouldn't play itself for you and when the fights lasted longer then a few minutes. There are already games that focus on going straight to fighting the monster/boss and I wish that monster hunter would have kept more of the hunt in it instead of making it streamlined but I can see why they did it in order to grow the audience.
@@P1anBeaner Writing in all caps? I used caps on 3 words as emphasis, but I guess that sort of ends the convo if you wanna just ignore what I said and go to passive aggressive insults. Have a good day.
Can def tell they learned from their earlier Toukiden games. They've taken a lot of stuff i think they wanted to put in those games but couldn't due to the limitations at the time. One thing i wish they'd done was put some of those weapons in this game.
I played the 10 hour trial and I love it! The graphics are definitely a bit bad sometimes and when I first played on Monday it was laggy but they patched it and honestly I'm happy they didn't focus on the graphics aspect because I use a bow and its incredible how many combos I can do with the bow alone
@@workgmail2375 subscribe to the EA Play or whatever and then you can play it. Only one I've seen it on is Steam, otherwise, idk about the others. Didn't apply cuz money issues at the moment
It's a blast. I just hope they fix the performance stuff so more people want to hop in thus more support in the future. It's gonna need like 20 more monsters to really compete
Maybe I’m too used to mhw but the performance issues, especially the stuttering fucks with my sight so badly it’s hard to position for attacks. XD also you can rollback weapon upgrades and get your mats back in mhw
This game simply doesn't have the heart that MH has. There's only a handful of franchises in existence than can illicit the triumphant, downright orgasmic feeling of raw *HYPE* as a new Monster Hunter reveal trailer with 'Proof of a Hero' playing in the background.
Thank you for the review! I think I am going to hold off till they fix some of the graphical issues. I love these style of games, but I want to take break and play something different. Probably going to buy Hogwarts Legacy and purchase this one later. I will definitely buy it. I like to focus on one game at a time and go all in.
Thank you for the awesome review, I have been cautiously optimistic about this game and jonesing for something new since MH World! Would you say it's worth picking up the collector's edition?
Yeah, can confirm this. Just bought it yesterday and i’m having a blast. It’s sad that many people are not going to touch this because of the bad launch. I am actually enjoying this more than World or Rise. This is my GOTY.
FYI if anyone is using the Nodachi in this game: Don't think of it as a MH Greatsword! While you're holding RT in the Iai stance, you can continue attacking to build the meter a LOT quicker to get to that final move at max meter
it's honestly so upsetting that kind of every slightly bigger release is thrown onto the market in an unfinished state and publishers just get away with it like it's just the new standard while still demanding full price, which in this case is 70€ on steam. Thats really enraging me.
I'm really enjoying the game myself but I wish I could convince my friends to play it lol Also with the graphical issues! Turn off the motion blur.. it might help!
This game is so fun I can deal with the crap resolution and performance. Really hope they iron it out because this game is amazing. The karakuri system is incredible and combat is so fluid.
I was playing this game last night and I’ve been enjoying it a lot. Yea it has its problems and issues but compared to the last game they made they hit this one out of the park. I’m just really glad that there is now another fun and good hunting game. I don’t think this could take down monster Hunter at all but I do hope the monster Hunter developers get some inspiration from this game for the next monster Hunter game. I would love to see the hunting games like this to become a big and popular genre.
... Sorry, I have to point it out - did you call Palicoes "Pouchos"? It's a hard C - pa-li-ko. Further still, the subtitles refer to the monsters as "kimono", which is a Japanese dress/robe; the actual word used is "kemono", meaning a beast or animal.
Hi! Would like to ask which u recommend more? MHRise or thisnone? Mostly wanna play in coop with my friend. And. 2nd question is it open world? Or just like monster hunter, so need to sign up for hunt etc
This game seems interesting and it has a lot of elements that I really would enjoy but the performance problems are a huge no for me. Hopefully they can do a performance patch to fix things soon then maybe I’ll pick the game up but for now it looks like a hard pass.
@@hartfantom not true I’ve read a few comments about how they already plan on dropping a performance patch soon so I already ordered the physical copy from Best Buy it gets here Saturday lol
@@dbzcollector9963 hey, that’s great but I’ve seen a ton of people use performance as a cover up to be dismissive towards the game and it’s annoying. The developers really did make a phenomenal game outside of performance issues. Elden Rings performance issues legit stopped nobody from buying that game so when I hear people trying to trash wild Hearts for performance only, it irritates me because gamers nowadays tend to be pretty big a$$holes towards developers they don’t have a implicit bias towards. All people saw was “EA” and “monster hunter kinda game” and decided to try smearing wild hearts
@@hartfantom I played the first hour and it was pretty good I really enjoyed the combat they just really need to drop a performance patch if they can fix the resolution for performance mode this game would be the only thing I play this year lol I think I spent like an hour just in the character creation 😂 but once you get to the combat the performance doesn’t bother me that much. What bothers me is seeing how good Monster hunter world looks compared to this one and that game is so old for a ps4 game but it looks like 10x better than a ps5 game. Still I’m glad I got the game I have no regrets if they plan on fixing the small problems then I’ll be sticking around for a while since it’s actually a good game it’s just not a feast for the eyes yet. I’m not a EA basher lol tho they did ruin battlefield doesn’t mean they ruin every game, like the new need for speed I actually enjoy it and still play it lol I know a lot of people hate the game.
going to put this game on my Wishlist. I tried getting into MHW, but i just couldnt. I got bored pretty quickly since the only thing you do is fight monsters (like duh, thats the title right?) but I figured thered at least be some side quests, side activities, but it really was, fight a monster, unlock the next one, go back out and fight the next one, rinse repeat. Not sure there's much more than that here, but like i said, Wishlist, wait for a sale, and maybe I'll give it a try.
That's literally the basis of the whole franchise and it's the same thing with monster hunter inspired games, wild hearts has exactly the same gamplay loop.
Been playing it all night past the 11:00 release. Got to the town. I really don't care about Monster Hunter, I just feel it's too simplistic with a lot of annoyances. But I'm loving this. Takes the more annoying things and just replaces it with more fun interactions with the environment. There's a lot of very impactful things you can do during gameplay. Like when I created a giant wall to make a boar go flying, just put that goofy smile on my face. I'm also right now placing a bunch of buildings in my realm, just to make it fun to traverse.
As a huge MH fan...and a regular player of monster world...I must say this game is great...when I saw EA were involved I was worried...but I've been proven wrong... really a solid game this👌🏻💯
This is a spiritual successor to the Toukiden games of the same devs, which also went head to head with the Monster Hunter games of that time period. Toukiden 2 ended with a visual theme where the medieval Japanese theme was starting to combine with the Karakuri theme. There was literally a partner NPC in 2 that was a human soul fused onto a Karakuri body. I'm quite surprised and disappointed Falcon seems to not know of these games when they were actually good and quite unique at the time. Toukiden 2 was even impressive for being a seemingly open-world-ish Monster Hunter game before World was a thing, and it had a Vita version too for portable players. Might want to at least try 2 since it's definitely quite fun even now. Only thing I dislike with this new game is that it's EA. "You use a launcher to launch another launcher that launches a launcher that launches the game."...should be enough to tell you why I dislike EA.
The little side stories with the partners in the first game were pretty nice too. I accidentally completed Nagi's story at the perfect time and had her talk about her experience with medicine just before the ice turtle mission where you tank a boulder for her and she ends up operating on you.
I want to get into these games, but the crafting component always kinda stops me (I do really like that you can respec for free, so definitely helps). That and I also want to get caught up in my Pokemons, and overcome the Soulsborne series, etc etc. So then it just kinda comes down to the monsters, so then I'm like well I should finally get around to playing Shadow of the Colossus, and that'll knock off a backlog game and scratch that giant monster itch. Other than all that, just not sure why these don't fully click for me.
I’ve tried the monster hunter series and for some reason never quite figured out why I didn’t like it, but I’ve downloaded Wild Hearts’ trial and so far I’ve had a blast
Here we are two weeks later and the game runs perfectly fine. All day one complainer should learn some patience. It's annoying for a brand new game to have issues, but they do tend to fix those issues.
Rise on Switch feels great let's be real, and honestly a hell of a lot better than Wild Hearts in its current state. Really hoping for a fix, I want to like this game so bad.
EVERYONE TURN OFF MOTION BLUR THERE IT SEEMS BUGGED OUT AND SEEMS TO JUST BLUR EVERYTHING WHEN YOUR HARDLY EVEN MOVING as soon as I turned it off I immediately noticed the game perform alot better
Hey, don't know If you guys are going to read this, but, a guy found a fix for the performance and posted on the steam forum. The fix is change the sound from stereo to 5.1 or 7.1. I don't have the game and I know this fix looks ridiculous but a lot of people in the forum are saying that this fix works, so...
"monster hunter is a niche genre" dude is absolutely clueless. Niche in the west maybe, but it was already a hugely successful series before 5th gen lol
Once this gets patched and the peformance is improved on console at least, I'll probably be checking this out, and your glowing recommendation certainly helped! I've never played a Monster Hunter before but the fact this one sounds a bit easier to get into - and it has a very medieval Japanese aesthetic which I love - makes it much more appealing to me.
the monkey Kimono's moveset reminds me of the monkey boss in sekiro (also turn off motion blur when playing this game it makes a weird fuzzy effect like at 11:36)
I'm glad that, despite the graphical issues, it looks like a great game. The team behind it should be proud to have been able to find success where they were unfortunately unable to with Toukiden 2.
Can you fight without using this building structures during fight with monster? I know this has been mentioned but wanted to make sure. It's not necessary to use this function at all and I'll still have fun?
I get the graphic and performance critique. Luckily for me, I am not a graphic person but the performance really needs to be good for such a fast paced game.
As someone who loathes the slow pace of MH, WH feels like something more for me. Also, you're using the creator engine for Nioh 2? Actually this game feels like nioh meets MH and i love it
i love these videos you guys always make it a point to put the game first and not worry about what other people think or say. also im a big fan of the warriors games as well. so i was kinda worried when i saw they where going to make a game like this, but was happy with how it came out, yes its a bit meh here and there with lag and frames but what do you expect from people that make games that have you playing a op character that KOs hundreds of troops a mission. but they always listened to the people (outside of there over priced skinks and such) for their bugs and performance fixes
Thinking about it, This sort of game would work well for my idea...that would be Pretty different from these current games. Defeat these big monster not just for crafting materials to make better gear, but to get new skills abilities and powers...could even be stats... giving many more reasons to keep fighting even the same bosses over and over. Each type of monster/boss being able to grant certain skills and abilities.
how is the performance on the pc at this time? I thinking of getting this game but the performance issue might annoy me. has there been any updates to it?
The only two problems I see across all the reviews are: graphical/optimization issues, and the price tag. The former can be fixed in patches and hotfixes; the latter is well, a sign of the times I guess. And this is a good thing, because I've seen nothing but glowing raves about the combat, the endemic life, the maps, the monsters, the loot, the Karakuri system. Its basically a fundamentally good game, and its by Koei Tecmo which honestly inspires confidence because they rly put effort in their games. I mean, even Elden Ring sucked bad in terms of graphics and performance in the early days. The 30-45fps does sound -.- though lol. Hopefully the patch they're putting out next week makes a serious dent in the performance stuff.
the performance is super bad on PC too, I have a 3090 and it still stutters a lot and sometimes the game just pauses for a second mid-fight. And in the online mode, the monster just keeps teleporting when you try to help someone else with a hunt
I had to set prioritize performance instead of resolution in game settings and also disabled motion blur and the game played and looked 10x better. This is playing on A PS5 with "4k hdr" TV. Most likely will need a patch to fix whatever is goin on with res and frame rate. With that being said, after I adjusted the settings i've been having soooo much fun with this game
Yeah I felt exactly the same as you when I tried out this Wild hearts, I was intrigued because of the previous dynasty warriors titles and early dynasty warriors was good very good, this wild hearts has all the right mechanics and new elements added to the monster hunter genre with the crafting traps and wooden blocks for setting up different attacks, but the performance of this game and graphics are poor running on next gen consoles it looks like beyond last gen graphically, but it's an ok game . Keep up the awesome try before you buy videos
Samesy. We haven't had as many issues with frame drops playing on Xbox Series X, even when there are 3 of us building and blasting. This game is definitely fun though. So looking forward to patches.
