We will not accept any responsibility for negligence or accidental ingestion of poisonous mushrooms or plants. These videos are not intended to be a definitive field guide, but rather a starting point to become familiar with habitat, Everyone is encouraged to do their own studies, acquire literature or internet resources to safely and confidently identify wild foods before they eat them. When eating a new wild mushroom, it is advised to start with only a small amount, and make sure that it is fresh and that it is cooked thoroughly. Some mushrooms do not agree with certain individuals, and this is typically discovered on a case-by-case basis. All the ideas expressed in the comments should be taken with a large grain of salt. I don’t think there is any other field of study or science that has more misinformation being shared so freely and boldly. Mushroom Wonderland and Aaron himself have no opinion and neither encourage nor discourage the use of mushrooms containing mind-altering compounds. These mushrooms contain powerful chemicals and should be treated with a high level of responsibility. Any video topics on the habitat, natural distribution, and morphological features of psychoactive mushrooms portrayed on this channel are purely for scientific and educational purposes.

My favorite way to cook shaggy parasol: Collect the "drumsticks" or slightly opened ones that are still mostly cupped close to the stipe, with atleast part of the stipe. When i get ready to cook them, I'll remove the stipe and cut it up fine and mix it with seasoned breadcrumbs and fresh herbs and enough olive oil to make the bread crumbs stick together when squeezed, then stuff the caps with the breadcrumb stuffing, top with some grated parmesan and bake at 375F for 25 minutes, then put them under the broiler a bit to brown up the parmesan more. Absolutely lovely.

What a lucky find with the parasoll mushrooms. I only know of one place they grow around where I live, that I found last year. Usually I only eat the hats, since the stipe is fairly tough. But I should look into drying the stipes and grind them up.

Great to be able to live vicariously through your videos! The mushroom season in northern MN ended early and abruptly due to lack of rain (only .016" in all of September). There are no fungi to be found, even in my Fall hot spots. Bummer! Thanks for posting these videos often. It makes me happy to watch others find those elusive fungi that are so good to eat! Out of curiosity, when does the Fall mushroom season typically come to an end in the PNW? Or more specifically, Washington state?
