I love beauty brands that only release themed collections (another newer brand that does this is Flower Knows). Even if I have no interest in buying anything, I enjoy viewing them as fashionable curations and imagining the kinds of emotions or associations they aim to evoke when worn.
I love the concept of Isamaya in that they intend to release only a handful of capsule collection. Fast makeup is getting old at this point. I'd rather have a really thought through collection every 4-6 months, then one every 2 weeks. The beauty industry is so oversaturated that I've become desensitized to most releases. I've bought things that I've been influenced in to, where the shine has worn off real quick. But the things I thought through, saved for and waited for good deals for, still give me the feeling as if they're brand new. And I think Isamaya is angling for that feeling in us. Unfortunately I'd pay double the price for it. So I'm living voraciously through YT.
You said perfectly! Nothing feels special unfortunately. And Isamaya has actually managed to make her products look special & something worth collecting.
This eyeshadow palette straight up MATCHES your painting in the background, and you created a beautiful look. Sorry to hear about your fall! Hope your head feels right soon!
Girl, I’m so sorry you fell! You went full mama protecting your baby boy without thinking about yourself. Instincts are wild, aren’t they?? I’ve been there, slipped down some uncarpeted wooden stairs while holding baby girl, back was bruised and f**ked for months! So, I wish you luck and swift healing! Also this video is everything I wanted today! I’ve been so anticipating this vid from you.
You unlocked a deep memory with that bath and body works sparkle art stuff reference. I had one of those roller balls of glitter and can remember clearly how much I loved the scent and sparkle!
Sorry to hear about your fall! When my daughter was about your son's age, she tried to hop on my back for a piggyback ride and ended up essentially choking me out. Unfortunately, I toppled backward down the stairs, and the last thing I could do before losing consciousness was to twist, so I didn't land on her. Thankfully, she walked away unharmed, but I was covered in bruises. I hope you heal quickly!
I thank you so much for mentioning the shadows gave you that warm eyelid feeling. I have very sensitive eyes and all sorts of shadows bother me. I’ll pass on this palette now… but wow it’s pretty! I really love that lipstick…and I even love it with the whole look today! I’m getting one.
🥰 glad that was helpful! I'll be comparing some similar palettes in the final thoughts review, so maybe there will be some good alternatives in there for you!
This brand is really exciting and inspiring with its clear vision! Even though the packaging of this collection doesn't speak to me, I still find the collection much more appealing than 99% of the releases out there with their same color stories.
I’m so sorry about your concussion sweet Kackie! I support you and your insights and candor have been giving me life lately. Your boots sound amazing! I bought my dream coat and the fact that it’s arriving tomorrow is keeping me going too. I also brought crystals to work. It’s that kind of month!
Oh no! I can’t believe you are working with a concussion! I hope that you heal completely. I also love Dystopian Cowgirl Fortuneteller! That is such a great name and it totally fits.
Concussions suck...and they weirdly reveal which things require more thinking. Had one in college: quantum physics literally hurt. Reading poetry literally hurt. Super weird. Hope Kackie can get through it quickly!!
Do all the things even if you don’t think you need it. Concussions go in waves. Brain swelling and healing is so strange. Wear the sunglasses, gentle music, low lighting, all the naps possible!! Hope you feel better soon❤
I agree that the price point is off. It feels like an effort to position the brand in a certain market without the performance or reputation to back it up. Id love to try the lipstick but there is no way I would pay$50. Maybe $30- but no more. Also Bamboo Pink is my favorite and only Clinique lip- the neutral beige pink undertone reminds me of kjer Weiss inner glow blush
Damn you look incredibly beautiful, I know it’s such a full and singular thought but I think it looks gorgeous on you. I wonder if that highlighter stick would work best like the glossier one, warmed up on the fingers and then tapped onto the cheeks? But I agree about it being frustration if there is only one way to use a product, especially if that product is expensive.
Glad you guys didn't get really hurt during the fall. Hope you feel better. Love the look and I really like the lip stick color too! I really love my Industrial eye shadow palette. This one too expensive imo. And I can do similar looks with products I have already. Great review!
I don't know why it's not really visible in person but that highlighter reads in video as a soft shimmer. I'm so into this look but it's just as out of my wheelhouse as Industrial was for others. So intriguing!
Not gonna lie, my daughter and I want the mascara solely for the horse packaging. We like horses. She was born in the Year of the Horse. I can’t afford it. Please don’t tell me it is good, for gawd’s sake…lol
Hope u feel better! U’ve had a rough week 😮💨 I have Outlaw as well, sparkly sheer lipstick is my jam. I already snapped off the 🐴 horse, it’s just so garish to me.
Kackie, the lipstick shade Buck would look killer on you. I am a lipstick lover and have nothing like it in my collection. Of the three lipstick shades, it is my favorite and the most unique.
man kudos to you for doing all this (lights, makeup etc) with a concussion, when i had mine earlier this year i was laid up in bed w all the lights off for weeks
I bought the highlighter for shits & giggles b/c of the packaging, but I use it by warming it up on the back of my hand & than applying with fingers. It’s gives a slight shimmer but with a glossy shine.
I'd disagree with this being a little campy, it's incredibly Camp in my opinion. Which is why I love looking at the products and the photoshoot video on Isamaya's RU-vid channel. Not in my price point, but it's so tacky looking in the best way possible. The compact looks like a rodeo belt, and the horse on the packaging? As someone who unironically loves rodeos, this collection's siren song has me by the throat. Edit: oh no, oh dammit. I may need this. We shall see if it's still available in May for a birthday treat to myself because the entire experience of the packaging, formula, and shades is something I didn't even know I was missing until now
If I want more of a sparkle, I've been using the highlighter with a dry sponge, but if I want the sparkle to blend better, I apply with a dry sponge over a liquid highlight (Lisa Eldridge or ELF). I thought I was going to hate it but I use it all the time.
Maybe rubbing the highlighter on a finger and then tapping it on with fingers could work, as the warmth would help the product melt while the softness of the fingers won't push the products applied underneath around so much?
I had horses soooo I think I need the palette and one other item. Your look is gorgeous! Thank you for your first impression/review of this collection! ❤
Nobody can tell me that this is not a "Blucifer" collection based on Denver Airports cursed horse statue and I feel like your concussion on the day of review only further confirms this. Hope you're feeling better !
I love PML palettes and I have 3 of them, this reminds me of Heutopian and Divine Rose II but I never pick them up because I kinda don't wanna ruin them lol and I never ever travel with them. This is the reason why I just bought the Wildstar palette 🤣 a more portable palette with colors I love
How do you feel about bricky orange/red lipsticks? I’m fair neutral with a yellowish skin tone, and brick color reddish oranges look really good on me. (Can’t pull off a blue based red without feeling like The Joker, though. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I really only wanna feel like an anarchist on the inside, and don’t really wanna look like one on the outside.) The lipstick you have on from this ISAMAYA box looks kinda bricky red from this side of the screen, and it looks really good. And it’s wild because I can’t really even see the metallic aspect either.
We have a very different structure but I have a lot of space between by crease and brown bone. I notice you wear your shadow pretty high up, kinda in that area. You make it work, how? How did you get there? I think it looks ridic on me. Have you always worn yours this way? Was it a journey/process for you? I want to start using some of that real estate but not sure how to dip my toe without having a panic attack. I feel like I look like those 1-2-3 illustrations on the back of drug store eyeshadows. Blue! All blue! Blue to the brow bone lol 🤡
Hahahahaha omg I know exactly what you mean. And this is such a good question - It HAS been a process! I realized editing that when I left a wider stripe under my brow bone for a highlight, it made sense in the mirror, but straight on it really collapsed my eye and made my eyes look smaller and deeper set. I watched some old tutorials by Wayne Goss - specifically him mimicking Kim Kardashian's shadow style - and I saw him use the transition shade almost all the way to the brow bone. He pretty much just pushes the brows out of the way and squeezes the tiniest bit of highlight under the brow if at all in that tutorial. I tried it and it changed my life! I highly recommend checking out his old curriculum style tutorials!
THIS question + response is something I didn't know I needed to understand until just now....thank yooooou so much for putting this out into the world! I have been trying to understand how to best compliment my deeper set eyes / annoying brow bone that I think I'd really just like to push back into oblivion. I find the way you, Kackie, do your eye looks sooo flattering & just mmmm!! -- but I've been told more than once that I've blended my eyeshadows up/out too far....I'm gonna go back and watch more older WG eyeshadow videos - I also find his videos on placement really enlightening. I also think it's going to take some more of me just not caring!!!! what others think of what I like to wear on myself, which is a kinda constant work in progress:) xoxoxxoo
I don’t even understand how to join your channel to see the vlogs but I’ll figure it out cus I wanna see the boots 😂 I’m glad you agree that the RU-vid system for that is janky…
I was holding a friends baby & wearing socks when I slid down a half flight of stairs. I was ok, but the kiddo had a fracture in his femur, I felt soooooo bad. I love unhinged Kackie, but not when it comes from a concussion, I hope your feeling better soon.
@@kackie by the way, @Theresa Is Dead did a review today where she uses the same highlighter balm. She had the same impression, that it was pretty much a waste of time. Granted she has a VERY different preference for highlighters but I don't think the product does much of anything. It looks like a similar effect to the Tower 28 balm thing.
Since you started the Vlogs, I’ve been trying to join and haven’t been able to 😅 I can’t figure out why because I know with other channels it’s been possible. I won’t give up, but just wanted to let you know that other people might be having a problem! It’s super weird!!
@@Mariah-ek5iu I did try that, but I think I might try desktop next. I was able to get to a join button but it doesn’t function (which is crazy. I’ve never seen that happen before!)
@@Mariah-ek5iu it actually just worked! So bizarre. I tried today before writing this comment two or three times and then I tried another two or three times after watching this video. I changed absolutely nothing but the join button mysteriously functioned on my last try… I think in the past I gave up after like two tries because that’s not logical lol. Nuts oh well, at least it worked!
What i find dumb about youtubes algorithm whatever is that even tho i am a member for the vlogs they dont show on my feed when theyre up. I had to sign up for notifications (a great decision but what??)
I'd join several You Tubers subscriptions if it wasn't automatic bank deduction payments. Hate that I'd rather pay for a chunk of membership videos instead of monthly payments.
